Hello, everyone.
I aim to do tech support as I get adjusted, and then expand into "slice of life" events. I will also be helping other DMs with their events when they need it. I may do bigger events on my own later, but I am fond of "slice of life" vignettes and will probably focus on those.
While in one of my events, feel free to do anything that is within the bounds of RP. Be creative. That is what sets this server and this game apart from standard MMOs. If you RP something, I will tell you if you need to roll anything. If you have any doubts, please feel free to ask me about it.
Please do not rest in one of my events. It is not realistic to take a six-hour snooze while you are fighting off hordes of foes! And you know, your foes will likely take advantage of such a vulnerable situation. Ask for permission to rest, or otherwise properly RP it.
For now, I am not taking personal character requests.
I am looking forward to gaming with all of you!

A Magical Staff
8/4/11-8/18/11
Earth
In the basilisk-infested grounds around Durlag's Tower, an old silvery man appears to help a petrified Kaltyra. In return, the man asks the orc to help find the missing pieces of the staff that he is holding. The old man says he found the staff, which appears to be a simple wooden stick, in the trash in Baldur's Gate. The man shoves the staff into Kaltyra's hands and disappears.
Later, the gray orc asks a wizard to help her study the staff. The wizard tells her that the staff has latent magical powers, is clearly missing some pieces, and has arcane earth runes carved into its wood.
Fire
Later, a masked rogue approaches the gray orc and offers her money for the stick. She refuses to hand it over. The rogue becomes insistent, and the gray orc rewards his persistence with a sound beating. Terrified, the rogue answers the gray orc's questions.
The rogue says he stole a big box from a young man a few days ago. When he opened it, he discovered that the box held only the simple wooden staff, a metal claw, a cloth, and a glass ball. Disgusted, he threw away all of the pieces except for the claw, which seemed to be at least somewhat valuable. Then the rogue overheard the wizard telling the gray orc about the latent magical powers of the staff, and decided to try and get the stick back.
The orc demands that the rogue turn over the metal claw. The rogue gives the claw to the orc.
The orc offers the rogue a lot of money to help find the remaining two pieces. The rogue accepts her offer.
Air
A boy passes by the FAI campfire with his mother. He is playing with a glass ball, which he accidentally rolls into the campfire crowd. Mealir recognizes the latent magical energy within the ball. He suggests that the mother let them keep it, for safety's sake. The mother agrees.
The group takes the ball to Candlekeep, where they ask the Guide to study it. The Guide declares the ball to be a powerful magical staffhead. He recognizes the arcane symbols for air etched into the glass. He offers to take it from them for study. In return, the Guide gives the group 10,000 gold.
The group goes back to the FAI and gives the mother the gold. She gives some of it back to the group, and walks away in shock at her new fortune.
Water
Tarille, an elven commoner, leaves the FAI to head back to Baldur's Gate. She passes by the campfire, where a few adventurers notice that she possesses a magical cloth. One of the adventurers is Kaltyra, in possession of the stick and the claw. A couple of other adventurers are those who recovered the glass ball from the little boy. And yet two more adventurers simply understand the cloth to be a powerful item.
Tarille is paid very handsomely for the cloth, and she leaves hastily. The adventurers take the cloth to Candlekeep, where they leave it with a guard, along with a note for the Guide.
Kaltyra, Crescentia (a hin who helped find the glass ball), and a wizardess named Selah Shartess all remain at Candlekeep after everyone else leaves. The Selah reaches the Candlekeep Guide via Send spell, but the Guide replies that he is currently busy. The three women discuss the staff and compare notes.
A wandering bard happens by and tells them that he has heard of a powerful stave-maker in Baldur's Gate. She is, however, reclusive. No one has heard from her in months.
Kaltyra, Crescentia, and Selah all head to Baldur's Gate. The gray orc is careful to wear a disguise. They enter Sorcerous Sundries and use the magical lab there.
With the help of the lab and a scrying spell, the three discover that the stick and the claw were made by a powerful Calimshan wizard. If the staff is to be assembled, it should only be activated with an adequate ritual, lest the staff explode with the power contained within it. The three decide to seek out the reclusive stave-maker that the bard mentioned. The owner of Sorcerous Sundries directs them to her address.
Once there, the three adventurers find that the stave-maker's house seems quite undisturbed.
Binding Ritual
Selah Shartess is escorted by the Fist into the home of the reclusive wizard, whose name is Farrah. Farrah has not been seen in months.
Her home is booby trapped by powerful magic, and two Fist officers are killed while searching the home.
Selah finds some of Farrah's notes...
Selah is escorted by Captain Beluarion back to the Flaming Fist Headquarters, where she hands over Farrah's notes to a Flaming Fist Battlecaster. In return for a scribed copy of the notes, Selah tells the Battlecaster what she knows about the staff.
Apprentice Widjaja
Widjaja is the apprentice of the Wizard Parik, from Calimshan. It is from this young man that the thief stole the pieces of the staff. As all of the above events are happening, Widjaja is searching for both Farrah and the missing pieces of the staff.
Widjaja finally finds Farrah's house after Selah departs from it, but discovers that the Fist have cordoned off the building. Widjaja goes to the Flaming Fist headquarters, where they tell him that the Battlecaster handling the case has left for Candlekeep...
The Crafting
Crescentia and Kaltyra finally meet with Guide Wendel at Candlekeep. While they talk, a certain Flaming Fist Battlecaster arrives and asks to speak the Guide. The Battlecaster leaves Farrah's notes with the Guide for study and examination. The Guide notes that there is more to magic than quick evocations, and the Battlecaster leaves, decidedly offended.
Just a few minutes after the Battlecaster leaves, Widjaja arrives at the gates of Candlekeep. Widjaja explains that he has just run into the Battlecaster leaving Candlekeep, and that the Battlecaster told him Farrah's notes were in Guide Wendel's possession. Widjaja explains his plight, and begs for the notes.
Wendel refuses to hand over the notes, fearing the danger in those pages. Kaltyra reveals to Widjaja that they have found all of the pieces of the staff. Widjaja becomes hysterical. Wendel lets him stay at Candlekeep, promising to keep his informed about the staff.
Wendel tries to scry for Farrah, using her notes as a focus. He discovers that she has been screened from scrying.
Teo helps the Guide scribe a copy of the notes.
Wendel asks the sage Gorion to assist him in studying the notes. Gorion explains the theories written in Farrah's notes, observing that Farrah must have been a very skilled wizard. Gorion tells Wendel that with Farrah's notes, most skilled wizards could safely bind together the charged pieces of a magical staff.
Wendel, Teo, Kaltyra, and Crescentia go to Candlekeep's laboratories. There, Wendel uses Farrah's notes to bind the pieces of the staff together. He studies the newly made staff, noting that the staff is capable of doing many things, but does not seem to be too dangerous to return to its rightful owner.
The group goes to Candlekeep's inn, where they tell Widjaja that the staff has been completed. They ask him to get in touch with his master. Widjaja does so with a Send spell. Master Parik sends another one of his students, Alice, to Candlekeep. Alice teleports to Candlekeep and establishes communication between Parik and the party with a Scry spell.
The group sees that the silvery old man who unpetrified Kaltyra is with Parik. The silvery old man winks at Kaltyra.
In return for the completed staff and Farrah's notes, Parik and the silvery old man try to scry for Farrah. Parik is clearly inept at scrying, but the silvery old man is just as clearly skilled. Neither of them succeed at finding Farrah. The silvery old man is concerned. Parik instructs Alice to reward the group for their help, since he failed to locate Farrah for them. Alice does so.
Alice then teleports back to Calimshan with Widjaja, the staff, and Farrah's notes. Alice does not leave with a good impression of the Candlekeep Guide, but this only seems to amuse Wendel.
The group leaves Candlekeep. The silvery old man teleports right next to Kaltyra, startling her. The silvery man explains that Parik decided to give him the staff in exchange for scrying lessons and help in deciphering Farrah's notes. The silvery man then tosses the staff to Kaltyra and teleports away.
Kaltyra decides to try to find Farrah.
