Elf eared bait....

Unread post by Oarthias »

The two elves wandered along the trade way, blades in hands quietly whispering to each other. After playing a game of holding up the tree ... the two exchange words and split up.

The pale elf removes her hat, carefully clipping it to her pack, and shuffles her hair in such a matter that her pointed ears are clear to all that might glance her way. She then begins to slowly skip along with her bow in hand along the trade way ... south and then north again. Her goal and purpose for this action.. is only known to her, her boots, and her shadow.

One of the two elves steps to the side, sheathing one of her blades. She slowly tracks her way through the bushes, her eyes surveying the area with caution. Her eyes fixate upon the area where the other elf is wandering. She drags the sword she sheathed earlier, holding it against the tree. Slowly wandering on discretely, she rolls in to a nearby bush, proceeding to crouch. She pulls her hood over her face slightly, keeping her swords at her side. She then simply surveys the area curiously, cautiously making sure she doesn't ruffle the bush. After a short while, she crawls out of the bush to a nearby tree, pressing her back against it. Inhaling deeply, she adusts her hood with the tip of her sword, moving it to the side enough to allow vision over her shoulder. She then hunches against the tree, glancing over her shoulder, exhaling the muffled inhalation. She delves into a proned position, sliding her head slowly over the edge. She once again raises her sword's tip to adjust her hood, making sure her line of sight encompasses the whole area.

As Lanaya covertly watches, three individuals seem to wink into existence a goodly distance behind Vanira. They look around, then one gestures toward the elven woman walking on the road. Two head off the road to either side, and one continues straight following Vanira. The two who meander off the road seem to attempt to blend in with the shadows and foliage.

The elf fixates her vision simply on the figure beside Vanira. She presses her boot in to the ground, kneeling down slightly. She watches the figure's movements towards Vanira. Taking a brief lapse of vision, she attempts to find the footsteps of the others stalking the area. Slowly moving to the side, she watches for any sign of movement.

Brief flashes of movement among the brush on either side of the road suggest the two are trying to get ahead of Vanira. The one behind the wandering elven woman reaches under his heavy, draped cloak for something.

The elf presses her hand against the tree, quickly, whilst sticking to the shadows, rushing over to an tree adjacent to Vanira's position. She presses her back against it, trying to gain a clear view of the figure behind Vanira.

The intruder on Lanaya's side of the road seems to have disappeared entirely, although she can still see movement on the far side. The man behind Vanira puts a crossbow bolt between his teeth and then reaches under his heavy cloak for the crossbow itself...

She glances over her shoulder hastily, simply to make sure she isn't being flanked. She then huddles against the tree, stepping forward. She positions her swords forwards, and then stands behind a rock right beside the road. Within the distance of a lunge, her eyes narrow. She kneels down, keeping to the rock's shadow.

A bolt whizzes over Vanira's shoulder from the front. The man behind her curses beneath his breath and mutters something about 'too soon' He quickly goes about loading the crossbow and taking aim...

Lanaya takes a slow step forward, cautiously keeping out of sight. As she gets closer, her blood beings to rush. She slowly, before making contact, wraps her arm around his neck, holding the sword to the figure's throat. She motions for Vanira to watch out for any others as she cuts the figure's throat. She drags him back slightly, digging the sword into its throat.

Lanaya now has a fresh corpse, but bolts continue to fly from what was the front, now from both sides of the road. One embeds in the tree next to Lanaya's head, and Vanira gets grazed...although her leather armor deflects the bolt.

Lanaya feints to the left before rolling into a nearby bush, falling into a prone. She shuffles through the bush, using her swords to pull her forward. She watches for any nearby enemies, attempting to track where they are by using the position from where the bolts are being fired from.

From nowhere, as the firing seems to have stopped altogether.

Lanaya emerges from the bush, her attire damaged from the thorns. Still within the shadows, she peers her head out slightly, attempting to see if the corpse is still there.

The corpse remains, and all is quiet in the surrounding area.
