The elf settled back down next to the wounded ranger after placing a letter on each of the councilor's desks. Despite her best efforts to avoid reverie... her tired body and mind won the battle forcing her live through the events again.
~~~~~~~
Pocket planes ... hells it even had to be the same one she had been trapped in before. They had been fooled... she had been baited to lead Siveyn into the carefully laid trap and now they really had him. There was no way to see it coming? Was there? The memory of the events that led up to it blurred as it went to that specific moment.
.....
The battle was draining them all... the monsters from the hells were overpowering them. Her eyes widened in horror as she caught the movement of the beast that plucked Siveyn up off his feet and was bounding for the portal. Her blade finished off the one in front of her as she screamed out for him. Her focus wavered as her mind and body shifted to reaching Siveyn and the portal. Next there was pain, overpowering pain as something hit the back of her head. Her body was thrown completely off balance, she was falling to her knees. The last thing her eyes saw before she finished crumpling to the ground was Siveyn disappearing into the portal as she fell unconscious.
....
Something brought her around again and her ingrained training kicked in. A check list that fired off and answered itself within an instant.
What woke you? Sounds of battle.
What do you see? Monsters, combat.
What do you smell? Brimstone, dirt, blood.
What do you feel? Pain.
Can you move? Yes.
Where are you? The pocket plane.
Is there Danger? Yes.
Her body was already in motion before she even finished her mental and sensory check list... rolling to avoid being crushed by enemies and peers alike her hands reached for the short swords that had fallen out of her grip when she collapsed. Her legs kick out to trip a succubus that is lurching in Lance's direction as she springs back up to her feet. The pain of her wounds shoots through the nerves of her body making her stomach turn.
Queasily she dodges a claw swiping to remove her head from the rest of her. The monster's arm still outstretched her body responds almost instinctively... left boot stepping forward as the motion of her dodging carried her, waist twisting, head turning to keep her eyes and thrust her blades up to hit the mark that would paralyze it if not kill it. The blade of one of the paladin's struck it from the other side at the same time and the monster crumpled to the ground.
The elf didn't even wait for the monster to fully collapse when she spun into attacking the next enemy. She lost herself fully to the music of the battle; it was a disturbingly graceful dance that brought only death to any who dared to dance with her.
Her focus stayed strong... pushed everything else out of her mind till the battle was done. Then... and only then.. did her mind allow her to remember that they had taken him. Her feet began to yell at her, it was defeaning; the elf's eyes looked at Lance pleadingly as she asked him to slap her. She needed to refocus, to make it stop, needed the jolt to do make it happen.
Lance refused and the yelling only grew louder. She had failed, she had lead him into a trap, she had doomed him. Her body shook struggling to bring herself back under control... but then the laughter filled her mind. The taunting laughter that only confirmed what the feet were already shouting. It wouldn't stop and someone was approaching her, reaching for her. The dagger was in her hand instantly and instinctively she struck out to defend herself. Panic hit her hard when her eyes brought Lance more into focus... it was too late to stop her motion completely... an ungraceful jerk of a motion took the blade's movement away from Lance but it slashed against her own flesh.
The Dancing Knight again reached for her and she thought to resist but she felt so drained. He picked her up and she slipped back into the darkness... the mocking laughter still echoing in her head.
....
She comes back around seeing the others around her preparing to travel back through the doors... but then the vision of the memory blurs again and moves to a later one.
....
They stand in the temple... all but one that ventured out along with the two added that they rescued. She remains quiet for the most part, listening to them all pat themselves and each other on the back on a job well done. Their "Huzzah!" attitude was too much for her to take, she felt so numb, and so she silently got up and left the temple.
The night air hit her skin like a slap on the face and her eyes grew wet with tears that begged to be released again.
"We told you this would happen." Her feet reprimanded her. "Wasn't wise to attempt to let another in like that."
"Shut up."
"But NOooOOo you knew better then we did and attempted to get away with it anyways."
"I said shut up!"
"It is your fault that this whole mess even happened. Had you listened to us instead ignoring us none of this would have happened."
"I don't really want to hear this right now" she says struggling to control her voice.
"Now is when you need to hear it, maybe this time you will learn from your mistake."
"I'm -not- going to listen to this right now." She says while glaring down at her feet.
"You need to bloody listen so you don't go and blunder everything up again in the future" the left foot snarls up at her.
"Fark off!" she blurts out as she begins to make her way to leave the city ignoring the looks from the few bystanders that over hear her.
"Oh right, let us get all rude to the ones that save your elven ass all the time."
"Oh let her be for now" replies the right foot.
"She needs us to speak up now or she's going to go mad" the left foot retorts back.
"They already think she's mad because of you" the right one snaps right back at the left.
"You are only sticking up for her right now because she likes you more."
"Why the hells would you think that?!"
"I see the way she washes and care for you more then me"
The right foot mentally footpalms. "You obviously are not thinking clearly, perhaps we should have her loosen your boot straps a bit more."
"Oh put a stocking in it and stuff it"
"We are already dressed and stuffed in a boot."
The left foot shoots mental daggers in the right foot's direction.
"Just let her be for now" the right foot says with a sigh.
"She betrayed us!" The left foot blurts out.
The elf bites her lower lip and looks up at the night's sky. Trying to ignore the arguing feet.
"We are only a memory and a lingering voice, she deserved another try if she wished too" the right foot says with a regretted tone.
"We are bonded; life mates. You can't just leave that behind for another."
"Were bonded... the correct word would be -were-" the right foot again says regretfully.
"She shouldn't just leave us behind to take on this other."
"She has not left us behind. We are still here are we not?"
"That isn't the point!" The left foot shouts at the right.
"Then get to your point already."
"She is making it harder on us to keep her alive. She's going to get us all killed. Then even this will end."
"Perhaps this should end."
"No," the elf speaks quietly "I.. we are not not ready to part ways."
"Un chyfii anyon* my little elf; I will remain for as long as you need." the feet speak again as one. "
She stops in her tracks and closes her eyes.
"Chyfii?"
"Yes?"
"You have forgotten something back at the temple."
"Have we?" She blinks looking puzzled and then horror slowly takes over. "Hells, we forgot Malandriel, he'd never forgive us for making him recover with the tin cans!"
She turns on her heels quickly and bolts back to the temple to fetch him and bring him back to Doron Amar.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Her body shook as the shock of it all hit her again as she came out of her reverie. The elf's eyes looked back over to Malandriel's resting and healing body. As she watched him her thoughts went back to Siveyn. She wouldn't let the demonoligist keep him; he would not get away with this... no kin deserved such a horrible fate. She'd bring an army of elven blood to his doors for an ironic justice... have the thing he hated the most in this life stomp him into the ground. This bastard messed with the wrong elf, boy did he ever.
~~~~~~~~~~
Re: ~Vanira~ Conversations With Feet and Other Current Event
"The half orc mother looked at her ugly bastard of a son and said: you've got your boots on the wrong feet. To which her much less intelligent and drooling son replied: But mom, these are the only feet I have!"
It had been a long day and so the elf and her feet couldn't help but laugh a little at the right foot's joke. She would have preferred them to keep quiet today so she could think over her plans a bit more. So many plans to make and so little time. It made a dangerous combination where no mistakes or failures could be afforded.
"Do you mind? We've been moving all day and feeling a bit abused."
"No kidding, I'm so sore I think I'm even beginning to hear the big toe complaining."
The left foot mentally winced, "As if we need any other voices to crowd up the conversations."
"So says the one that never shuts up."
"Well, at least... oh yeah.... okay, so I'll give you that. Doesn't change the fact that we are sore though. All this running back and forth... then all the creeping through shadows." The left foot says with an exasperated sigh.
"Well at least the creeping isn't as jarring at the running. That really makes my arch hurt."
"You know as much as I hate the competition, I'm all for spending some time with Bastien."
"What you are jealous of the bench too now? We really do need have her loosen some of those boot straps."
"Stop your complaining... there is a lot to be done and not a lot of time to do it in. The longer this is strung out..." she didn't finish her statement as they all knew it how that thought continued.
The silence hung there like a dead man in a noose for quite some time before the feet spoke up deciding to whine again. "Why are we going this direction?"
The elf ignored them and continued on her chosen course so they continued their complaints. "This is a dangerous path, walking toward unneeded risks."
"Some risks are worth taking for the sake of keeping it from others," she responded back softly. "Though I will admit this is closer to the line of insane that I am comfortable with."
"So turn around and walk the other way, you know you really want to."
"There is no turning back in this... or the other."
"We are biting off more then we can chew and -we- don't approve," there was a long pause before the feet finished their statement... "nor would he."
She stopped dead in her tracks. "No need to fight dirty. We won't be crossing any of the lines I drew centuries ago."
"If you walk too close to that old path it is likely to pull you back in."
"It's the cards I've been dealt... there is no changing that. There are few that simply do what must be done. Sometimes the more honorable path isn't really an option."
"Chyfii, there can always be change... you've proved that once already before."
"That was something I almost didn't survive."
"And yet the light of a new day still kisses your face each morning. Take care the path you have us walk doesn't take that away."
They continued the rest of the day's errands in silence.
Re: ~Vanira~ Conversations With Feet and Other Current Event
The elf sat there at the tables surrounded by the sketches that she did of the areas. There were so many unpredictable unknowns in this mission that it made her stomach flop. This was not at all the kind of mission she was used to, there was no way to go and scout things out in the fashion that had been ingrained in her. No, this was a fools mission... and who the hells was she to ask these people to risk their lives to free one man... and a bunch of trapped elven souls. She was no real leader... not for groups this large, not for tasks like this.
"You've lead before Chyfii."
"We lead here because of a pretty face and a friendly smile."
"Some might think that, but do you honestly think that is the only reason he chose you?"
She remains quiet with her eyes staring at the draining shrine on the map. "He told me that he respected us, our skills, the fact we work well with others, and because we had the people skills he lacked."
"So what makes you feel you can't do this?"
"I've lead small missions. Nothing, this large or this risky but you know that. I simply gathered all the information, mapped it all out, we defined the goals, and assigned people their tasks... so we could focus where we needed to counting on the others do what they were supposed to without having to worry about it."
"Yes, that is why you put Lance in charge under you. No need to worry about anything when it comes time to focus on the traps and freeing Siveyn. Lance will hold them all in line and keep the out pouring hells off of you."
"All of this is insane madness."
"It is not without its risks. Have faith in yourself and the others."
She swallows hard trying to push aside the overwhelming feeling and begins to sketch out a few more maps of the areas she remembers and the landmarks to hand to a few of the others coming... for just in cases. Then she adds notes at difference sections. Where the portals seem to likely be opened, the building that leads to the other pocket plane, what buildings have and have not been entered. A star then marks the building that holds the lifeforce draining shrine like thing that will likely be holding Siveyn. One of the pieces of parchments is a sketch of the lifeforce draining device.. it's traps and in darker ink, the spot where the stone must be placed on the pressure plate to disarms the traps. She sits back.. staring at it all.. tapping her fingers to her lips.. wondering just how else .. what else she can do to prepare everyone for this.
Then she hands copies to Lance, Rhys, Naya, B (as a just in case we don't return) and Thedran... The man with -The Shovel-.
Re: ~Vanira~ Conversations With Feet and Other Current Event
She sits down once more groaning at all that paperwork that surrounds her. With an exasperated sigh she digs out a quill along with a box of cigars. Lighting the cigar and stressfully puffing away like a chain smoker she gets to work. She begins making the report more official so that it can be kept in the archive records and for those that missed the briefing. Focused so intently on the task ahead she barely even hears the bickering going in her boots.
The left foot starts coughing, gagging, and wheezing. "By the gods that is an awful smell."
"Your own odor bothering you again? If you'd stop letting your thoughts drift off to the hands again maybe you wouldn't get so hot and sweaty."
He snorts at the right foot, "Nothing wrong with thinking about an enjoyable massage!" He coughs and wheezes again. "But no, it's the bloody cigars."
"They are helping with some of the stress."
"How the hells do cigars help with stress?"
"Well, it's not like a good romping is available right now."
"Being that the bastard that she romps with is the one in trouble, no."
"Their are down points to having an exclusive something."
"I'd rather there be a nothing. She doesn't need anyone else they are nothing but distractions."
The left foot sighs, "You really should lay off her; this isn't easy on boots."
The left foot raises a little toe. "Boots? Going to call her that now?"
"Don't see why not, everyone else does."
Coughs and wheezes as another puff of smoke drifts down towards the feet. "By the gods I hope this habit will be short lived."
The elf sighs as she signs the document as ~Councilor Vanira Talamora~. "I promise to quit as soon as that title is gone. It doesn't suit or fit us... not yet.."
Re: ~Vanira~ Conversations With Feet and Other Current Event
It took going to hell and back; well to the pocket planes and back rather, but they had done it. Councilor Siveyn Silverarrow was back on the Prime plane. She had done a head check once her eyes focused after Wendel teleported them back safely to just outside Doron Amar. He was safe as well as all the others.
The trip had been full of surprises, but thankfully everyone stuck together. There was no rushing ahead into the hands of folly because someone felt like being the big hero. Yes, everything didn't go without a hitch, there were areas in which needed to work on and that would be dealt with soon enough. That could wait till she knew Siveyn was safe in bed.
In a daze of a sorts, the events all still registering in her mind, she lightly kissed Siveyn's lips. Her eyes stayed on his face as she thanked the others for their aid. Risking their lives and the possibility of a trapped soul was not something she took lightly and so their aid that meant more to her then they'd fully ever know.
Siveyn fluttered in and out of consciousnesses, but when his eyes opened and saw her he smiled. "Thank you"
"Let's get you home.. hmm," Vanira attempted to get Siveyn up to his feet as best as she could.
"You.... you shouldn't have come," he whispered again to her.
Thedran and Azorel stepped quickly in and took over getting Siveyn to his feet while Scarlett supported a very worn out Vanira.
"You would have done the same" she replied back and then rolled her eyes. "By the way.. I dub you Councilor again, you can keep that paper work."
"I'll get right on that. Promise," he responded as he leaned on the others as the lot of them slowly made their way to the 'Jest and found a room.
Thedran eased Siveyn down on the bed and then disappeared to bring back a pitcher of water and left the room leaving him in Vanira's care. She tossed her hat lightly onto the bed and moved over to the pitcher filling a glass and bringing it back to Siveyn.
He shook his head and looked to her, struggling to stay awake. "Awful big risk."
"Indeed, it was... but we all got out" she responded with a small shrug playing it down as she held the glass up to his lips for him as he drank.
With a half laugh, half cough, and holding his side he looks to her. "Shouldn't have" he says with a face looking older than before.
"Are you kidding..." she winked with a small smirk on her lips, "I would have been stuck with a mound of paperwork that would have killed me. So it was simple a choice of a maybe die in a pocket planes or death by paper cuts. Figured the pocket plane would be less painful"
He tried to keep from laughing and coughed violently. She winced watching the pain that rippled through him.
"You're impossible."
"We try."
The door opens as the others peek in to check on them catching Vanira as she planted a kiss on Siveyn's forehead. She quickly moved back over to the pitcher to refill the glass of water with a small twitch of her lips as she heard Scarlett's warning to the others about couples in rooms and their need for privacy.
The elf Cassia welcomed him home while Councilor Rhys added in a comment about hoping that Siveyn would be up and working again soon.
"I owe you all... so much. But if you ever risk so many for my sake again I'll have you all digging ditches till your backs break."
"Risk so many, never. They all went on there own" Rhys smirked.
Cassia smiled as she looked at Vanira and Siveyn and realized that they had been enjoying some privacy so she makes it brief with a nod. "And we owed you. Everyone did, in some small way. Rest Well."
The door closes and again the couple is left on their own for a bit. Vanira sat on the bed beside him and rubbed her temples. He glanced over concerned and then fell into another coughing fit.
"What a mess you both are. This is not going to end well," the feet mutter.
"What's wrong?" He asked before falling into another coughing fit.
"It's nothing" she lied. In truth she felt drained... felt wrong. The adrenaline should be still be surging through her body as it often did after intense situations and battles. Something was amiss but what that was she couldn't put a finger on.
There were more voices in the hallway. The grumblings of Malandriel upset that he had been left behind, followed by teasing replies of Scarlett being the loudest. Eventually the voices all faded as they went to seek out rest of their own. The sound of "spicy" music lingered for a bit, but then even that faded down the stairs to the larger room below them.
"I can't thank you enough."
"You breathing beside me is enough my handsome shadow." Her eyes looked over him questioningly a moment, "You .. want or need anything else?"
He shook his head. "You. Always you. Stay with me for now. I'm afraid if I fall asleep I'll wake up back there. I've dreampt this so many times. It's too good to be true."
"We will stay beside you.. no worries there." She leaned closer and placed her lips on his a moment. "We missed you so much."
"And I could not have missed you all more. Especially my something." He laughed again, trying to keep from coughing this time and mostly succeeding.
"Somethings don't really work when the other someone in the something is missing.. had to fix that .. don't want to loose our something." She said as she handed him another glass of water along with a healing potion.
He looked at her thoughtfully a long moment. "Hmm.."
Her silvery brow lifted up, giving him a questioning look.
"It's just..." he started to say as he sipped the potion/water and made a bit of a face, "If this is a dream, then there are no consequences. And if it's not, then you deserve to hear it..."
"Nooo!!!! Don't do it!! She's not... we are not ready for this!! Not yet!" The right foot screamed!
"I've never put someone in danger like that before. I've never had to be rescued..."
"NOOOOOOOO..... STOP.... DON'T... YOU'LL RUIN IT ALL"
She tilted her head and her eyes widen ever so slightly.
"And you say I'd do it for you, and you're right. When I think of all the things I would do for you I can't even find an end. More so evident today, but stronger tomorrow and each day after... I love you, Vanira." His eyes remained on hers as he managed a weak smile.
"It's done... it's over!! You punk! She doesn't need you she still has me!!!"
She stared at him for what seemed like hours but in actuality was only a few seconds. Eyes blinking and her feet screaming at her the elf does the only thing she can in such a situation; she planted a long lingering and hopefully distracting kiss on his lips.
"What are you going to string him along till he finishes healing? That is cruel, just cruel. Just break it to him, it's over!"
His lips return the kiss and smiled at her as the kiss ended. "Don't think that I expect you to say anything. It just came to a fairly obvious realization and thought I'd voice it." He coughed again. "That's all. Just help me slide up a bit further and I'll call for a cleric when I wake."
"Oh right, sure try and assure her that she has no reason to run" the left foot respond in a bitter tone.
"Something is off, it really is best that we don't run. The assassin's would have us for certain."
She smiled warmly at him again as her eyes looked to his and then helped him shift further up on the bed and made sure he was comfortable. "Fairly certain we'll have healers coming and going checking in on you more then you wish for them to."
"Just tell Auriel to warm her hands by the fire first..." he says weak laugh coughing fit.
A small snort escaped her in reply.
"See he is clearly not the one for you, he's wanting another woman's hands all over him already."
"That isn't what he meant and you know it."
Still trying to fight to stay awake a bit longer he smiled at her, "You did good, Vani. Methods not withstanding."
I'm sure some would argue with that.
"I don't know. Getting naked and writhing around on a column seemed to work..... mostly" he coughed.
She coughed lightly as the color raced to her cheeks.
"Paralyzed. Not blind."
"Bastard!"
"Well.. the halfling the last time.. weighed a lot less.. didn't want to trigger anything... had to loose all the weight I could... to not.. spring anything. Improvising... sometimes isn't all that graceful... or well thought out..." she sputtered out in a flustered and embarrassed manner.
"Clearly. But we made it. We're safe....I can rest." He whispered as he closed his eyes and slipped into a deep healing rest.
"Do you?"
"Do I what?"
"You know what."
"Love him?"
"Well, do you?"
The elf closed her eyes and slipped into a restless slumber of her own ignoring the feet's question for now.
The trip had been full of surprises, but thankfully everyone stuck together. There was no rushing ahead into the hands of folly because someone felt like being the big hero. Yes, everything didn't go without a hitch, there were areas in which needed to work on and that would be dealt with soon enough. That could wait till she knew Siveyn was safe in bed.
Thedran and Azorel stepped quickly in and took over getting Siveyn to his feet while Scarlett supported a very worn out Vanira.
"You would have done the same" she replied back and then rolled her eyes. "By the way.. I dub you Councilor again, you can keep that paper work."
"I'll get right on that. Promise," he responded as he leaned on the others as the lot of them slowly made their way to the 'Jest and found a room.
Thedran eased Siveyn down on the bed and then disappeared to bring back a pitcher of water and left the room leaving him in Vanira's care. She tossed her hat lightly onto the bed and moved over to the pitcher filling a glass and bringing it back to Siveyn.
He shook his head and looked to her, struggling to stay awake. "Awful big risk."
"Indeed, it was... but we all got out" she responded with a small shrug playing it down as she held the glass up to his lips for him as he drank.
With a half laugh, half cough, and holding his side he looks to her. "Shouldn't have" he says with a face looking older than before.
"Are you kidding..." she winked with a small smirk on her lips, "I would have been stuck with a mound of paperwork that would have killed me. So it was simple a choice of a maybe die in a pocket planes or death by paper cuts. Figured the pocket plane would be less painful"
He tried to keep from laughing and coughed violently. She winced watching the pain that rippled through him.
"You're impossible."
"We try."
The door opens as the others peek in to check on them catching Vanira as she planted a kiss on Siveyn's forehead. She quickly moved back over to the pitcher to refill the glass of water with a small twitch of her lips as she heard Scarlett's warning to the others about couples in rooms and their need for privacy.
The elf Cassia welcomed him home while Councilor Rhys added in a comment about hoping that Siveyn would be up and working again soon.
"I owe you all... so much. But if you ever risk so many for my sake again I'll have you all digging ditches till your backs break."
"Risk so many, never. They all went on there own" Rhys smirked.
Cassia smiled as she looked at Vanira and Siveyn and realized that they had been enjoying some privacy so she makes it brief with a nod. "And we owed you. Everyone did, in some small way. Rest Well."
The door closes and again the couple is left on their own for a bit. Vanira sat on the bed beside him and rubbed her temples. He glanced over concerned and then fell into another coughing fit.
"What a mess you both are. This is not going to end well," the feet mutter.
"What's wrong?" He asked before falling into another coughing fit.
"It's nothing" she lied. In truth she felt drained... felt wrong. The adrenaline should be still be surging through her body as it often did after intense situations and battles. Something was amiss but what that was she couldn't put a finger on.
There were more voices in the hallway. The grumblings of Malandriel upset that he had been left behind, followed by teasing replies of Scarlett being the loudest. Eventually the voices all faded as they went to seek out rest of their own. The sound of "spicy" music lingered for a bit, but then even that faded down the stairs to the larger room below them.
"I can't thank you enough."
"You breathing beside me is enough my handsome shadow." Her eyes looked over him questioningly a moment, "You .. want or need anything else?"
He shook his head. "You. Always you. Stay with me for now. I'm afraid if I fall asleep I'll wake up back there. I've dreampt this so many times. It's too good to be true."
"We will stay beside you.. no worries there." She leaned closer and placed her lips on his a moment. "We missed you so much."
"And I could not have missed you all more. Especially my something." He laughed again, trying to keep from coughing this time and mostly succeeding.
"Somethings don't really work when the other someone in the something is missing.. had to fix that .. don't want to loose our something." She said as she handed him another glass of water along with a healing potion.
He looked at her thoughtfully a long moment. "Hmm.."
Her silvery brow lifted up, giving him a questioning look.
"It's just..." he started to say as he sipped the potion/water and made a bit of a face, "If this is a dream, then there are no consequences. And if it's not, then you deserve to hear it..."
"Nooo!!!! Don't do it!! She's not... we are not ready for this!! Not yet!" The right foot screamed!
"I've never put someone in danger like that before. I've never had to be rescued..."
"NOOOOOOOO..... STOP.... DON'T... YOU'LL RUIN IT ALL"
She tilted her head and her eyes widen ever so slightly.
"And you say I'd do it for you, and you're right. When I think of all the things I would do for you I can't even find an end. More so evident today, but stronger tomorrow and each day after... I love you, Vanira." His eyes remained on hers as he managed a weak smile.
"It's done... it's over!! You punk! She doesn't need you she still has me!!!"
She stared at him for what seemed like hours but in actuality was only a few seconds. Eyes blinking and her feet screaming at her the elf does the only thing she can in such a situation; she planted a long lingering and hopefully distracting kiss on his lips.
"What are you going to string him along till he finishes healing? That is cruel, just cruel. Just break it to him, it's over!"
His lips return the kiss and smiled at her as the kiss ended. "Don't think that I expect you to say anything. It just came to a fairly obvious realization and thought I'd voice it." He coughed again. "That's all. Just help me slide up a bit further and I'll call for a cleric when I wake."
"Oh right, sure try and assure her that she has no reason to run" the left foot respond in a bitter tone.
"Something is off, it really is best that we don't run. The assassin's would have us for certain."
She smiled warmly at him again as her eyes looked to his and then helped him shift further up on the bed and made sure he was comfortable. "Fairly certain we'll have healers coming and going checking in on you more then you wish for them to."
"Just tell Auriel to warm her hands by the fire first..." he says weak laugh coughing fit.
A small snort escaped her in reply.
"See he is clearly not the one for you, he's wanting another woman's hands all over him already."
"That isn't what he meant and you know it."
Still trying to fight to stay awake a bit longer he smiled at her, "You did good, Vani. Methods not withstanding."
I'm sure some would argue with that.
"I don't know. Getting naked and writhing around on a column seemed to work..... mostly" he coughed.
She coughed lightly as the color raced to her cheeks.
"Paralyzed. Not blind."
"Bastard!"
"Well.. the halfling the last time.. weighed a lot less.. didn't want to trigger anything... had to loose all the weight I could... to not.. spring anything. Improvising... sometimes isn't all that graceful... or well thought out..." she sputtered out in a flustered and embarrassed manner.
"Clearly. But we made it. We're safe....I can rest." He whispered as he closed his eyes and slipped into a deep healing rest.
"Do you?"
"Do I what?"
"You know what."
"Love him?"
"Well, do you?"
The elf closed her eyes and slipped into a restless slumber of her own ignoring the feet's question for now.
Re: ~Vanira~ Conversations With Feet and Other Current Event
She has slipped up and it caught up with her. While the details of the events were missing she had been filled in enough to know what happened. The crumpled note in her pocket that made her stomach turn confirmed it solidly enough as well.
The "Lovers"* had left their mark and had taken the ring. The ring she had only just retrieved back from the damned dhaerow that had stolen it months ago. It's loss threatened to crush her. She doubted that they knew just how much this meant to her. They likely thought they just took a simple symbol of vows given to another; to know that it was the wedding ring her dead soul mate had given her was imposable.
She kept her chin up as she walked to an inn in Candlekeep; rented a room, checked that she was alone, and only then did she allow herself to drop to her knees and let it all sink in. Another name was marked off the list; three names remained now. They had taken their trophy; their focus would no longer be on her... to protect the others was going to be that much harder.
The feet were quiet for once... for now.. it could be that she simply didn't hear them through the crushing pain of it all... or perhaps they were allowing her to grieve the missing part of herself once more.
By the gods ... her eyes narrowed even as tears continued to escape down her soft pale cheeks... she would strike back. She could feel an older, darker, part of herself struggling to come back to the surface as her hands curled into fists at her side. They would wish they were never birthed; vengeance would come for all the life they had taken. She would see to that...
