Background:
Toinus used to work with his brothers and father at their own smithy, his mother was long deceased. They were a merry family, his father was almost no different than his brothers 4 of them just enjoying the mining and crafting business. Toinus was the stronger one, he used to the majority of the carrying and lifting, his two brothers were the crafty ones while Toinus would slam on the anvil when need be. They had enough gold and were happy the four of them. They used to travel to the Alamir Mountains and then enter the mines in order to gather metals for their business in Yeshpek.
One evening when they were mining below the Alamir Mountains, Toinus's brother Bolzan came upon a magical whip below by a svirfneblin corpse. After a somewhat decent burial, they turned back after having gathered their supplies. A dark elf scout crept upon them and attacked them. The dark elf stabbed Bolzan appearing out of nowhere and Bolzan dropped. Toinus was quick to get out his axe, he charged the dark elf, but the elf disappeared out of sight. While Toinus was looking around, a blade directed to his kidneys bounced off his adamantine armour and Toinus tripped the dark elf being prepared this time. A slash across the not-so-heavily-equipped dark elf's chest immobilized him and then he pinned him down with his axe. He made sure his father Kelzar was tending to Bolzan.
He turned back to the dark elf asking:
"Wot yer attack us fer yer ferkin darkie ? Ire goin ta gut yer now"
The drow staring at the blood gashing from his chest in disbelief replied:
" Blasted dwen'del, dos orn yaith. Orthea elgluth"
Toinus finished him off without a blink spitting on his corpse since he could not make out what he was saying. Toinus had hated magic from his childhood, but he was reasonable enough to know it was a powerful thing. He had studied and read up on arcane and divine magic quite a bit, he did not want the dark elf casting an incantation hence the reason for ending his life without being able to get more information.
They made their way back to Yeshpek and Toinus reported about this attack to the authorities and the guards but noone paid any attention. Having spent his childhood in Yeshpek he always had a problem with authority figures, but this incident pushed him a bit over the edge. Meanwhile his brother had stashed the whip in a chest unaware of it's value to the drow.
A few months later after a day of hunting, Toinus comes home after dark to find few dark elves standing over the bodies of his brothers and father. With a cry he charges them but the three of them disappear out of sight just like the one did a few months ago before he can get to them. In panic, Toinus goes out the wooden door and looks for the dark elves but he bumps into a party of drunk guardsmen who diss him for telling them dark elves slayed his family. Rude remarks are exchanged and in the moment of heat one of the guards slices Toinus's left shoulder open with his halberd.
Few hours later after praying at his brothers' and father's grave, he picks up his backpack which is lighter than usual and heads out. A shiny full plate armour rests on top of his father's grave while the corpses of the slaughtered guards lie still on the street.
Despite his dislike of "authority" and "guards", the slaying of them was too much for him to bear; was against what his father had taught him and his brothers. Losing his family meant he could not protect them, he had failed surely. Slaying the guards didn't help either, that wasn't what his father would have wanted him to do even though they had dealt the first blow. Toinus shaved his hair and facial hair down to a single mohawk greased with pig oil and didn't need plating on his torso since he wasn't interested in protecting himself anymore. He set out for the glorious death that would free him from the turmoil and despair inside him..
Personality:
Toinus can be quite misleading to those who don't really know him. Unlike most slayers, his trauma led him to be more social and humorous. He seems a funny and grumpy dwarf to those who aren't too close to him but humour and social interaction is his way of attempting to evade his family's death.
It is in the battlefield, one can get to know and understand his deeper layer/personality since he can't hide or pretend there. He is nasty and likes bloodshed, is cruel to who he means harm and does not give those at the end of his axe any chances of retaliation ever.
He seems to enjoy the company of non-dwarven females suprisingly.
In-game Description/Bio:
This dwarf's skin is tattooed with orange images depicturing dragons and demons and three dwarven names (Kelzar, Bolzan and Bolinus if your character is fluent). His skin is tough and resilient against the weather.
A bit tall for a dwarf, he's particularly fit and well-built. When he wields his axe, he uses a different technique that enables him to get his body behind the blows and slashes.
He seems to be carrying a flask on his belt covered in runes just like dwarven artifacts are. He's seen using different sorts of alchemical oil quite often on his axe and himself.
Toinus is known to be funny at times but those that have seen him in the battlefield know this isn't the case.
Toinus doesn't like talking about himself too much, when the oath he's taken is mentioned, he usually dims his eyes and attempts to evade the topic the best way he can.
He is rather decent looking as a dwarf, he does not like to talk about his dirty beard which isn't considered a beard in the dwarf society. He lacks a bit of manners and goes out of his way to be rude to anyone who has anything negative to say about axes . . .
It is also known that he doesn't have much love for the fisties . . .
