Bre.

Unread post by breteas »

Bre, a merry sorc with issues.

First Name: Bre'teas
Last Name: Go'Qu

Appearance: Comes across as curious, friendly. He smiles most of the time, but can come across as absent and depressed.
Race: Moonelf
Age: 121
Height 5ft 8in.
Weight: Varies, depending on Jack Flappem' consumption.
Eyes: Blue.
Hair: Grey/blueish.
Facial Hair Style: None.

Personality Profile: Bipolar, his mood swings can be quick and violent. But in general he is playful, cheerful. Always out to help others, he will run into battle to save those he holds dear.

General Health: Good, except for the mental issues which he has asked several priest characters to help him with.

Deity: Liira.

Initial Alignment: Chaotic good.

Profession: He's a free spirit and takes upon himself to go around helping the inexpierenced. He's an actor in the whitemask theater, and personal assistant to Rhys, councilor of Doron Amar and headmaster of the Arcane academy.

Base Class & Proposed Development: Sorcerer and Arcane Scholar. I'm not even done developing my skill in handling him to the fullest yet.

Habits/Hobbies: Laughing, pranks, messing around, seeking out folk to help.

Languages: Common, Elven and one other.

Weapon of Choice: He's a waggler, but prefers to aid in defence rather than to attack. He found out it is impossible to coordinate a group such, that they will hold a line or any kind of formation for that matter. Curiously, this leads to him often being one of the last standing.

Background: Bre was raised in Loudwater, west of the Graypeek mountains. Not raised by elves but rather by his foster parents who are human, he has had a troubling child hood. As has happened with a lot of his 'kind' , his ability to shape the weave was tough for him to handle at first. Untill he left Loudwater, being chased away by the local towns folk after setting fire to multiple buildings, including the storage building and the local school, he was unaware that he had any power at all.

In fact, it was only after he wandered the surrounding area for a while, lost and feeling angry at everything, that he found out. At first he started trying to shape the weave at will. To no effect. When he later got mad at himself for being such a failure, a nearby bush caught fire, which gave him an idea.

Forcing himself in akward situations where he lost his temper, he got more proficient with actually having some control over his, he now realized, magical powers. When he felt confident enough he could control his temper and his magic, he left for the coast and ended up in Baldurs gate.

Once there he quickly made friends, a local Merchant took it upon him to get him started. He also introduced him to his first real friend. Bre has not had any real friends in the past so he quickly grew fond of Rade Imythesent, a young wizardress enjoying life to the fullest.

For a time he was happy, honing his skills and wandering the coast in search for adventure with her. He even set up a small business dealing in potions for wandereing adventurers. Over time he met other folk and was invited to join the academy under Rhys Feivra, following his lessons and taking his classes Bre grew to be a capable mage having earned the trust of his mentor. He joined Doron Amar while he was under guidance from Rhys.

After the assault on the temple of Bane, things changed for Bre. With the council leaving for greener pastures, and Doron Amar feeling empty to him, he has found joy in other things. The main "thing" being Elisuna. He feels she is the one always there for him, and he wants to be for her. They make an odd couple at times but the fun they have together, he thinks is unmatched.

He also found another purpose where he feels valued, and makes a true effort to keep doing this regularly. Aiding the inexpierenced and 'young' adventurers gives him a feeling of fulfilment. He does so almost daily and can often be found escorting groups of people to dangerous places. His magic making sure they won't die in the process.

Goals: As a free spirit, he does not really have any goals. Other than perhaps holding on to what he already has.

Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts: Bre has massacred an entire crew of pirates during one of his "episodes". He lost his mind after Elisuna told him she didn't want to be with him anymore, her mother confirming this made it worse. It led to him becoming psychotic, unreasonable, unreachable and downright a danger to society and himself.

That was the second episode he had before he lost his mind after seeing a friend he thought was long dead and gone. With him being bipolar, his tendency to do things on impulse has led to many issues in his past, including him casting gate at the Istari tower in front of Charraj and Valerius, just to show he could do it as well.

There are many ways to for Bre to have such an expierence again, although he has recently sought help for his problem, and with Elisuna as his closest friend and listening ear, his ability to manage his emotions better, something really -drastic- would have to happen for him to go mad again.

In general, if anyone messes with his friends he will become angry to a degree at least. Depending on how close that friend is. He has a mild frustration about being used as a walking wand at times, but has found some sort of piece with that. Keeping in mind who does, and who does not appreciate his help.
