I think you shouldn't have people pick weapons. Instead, have a lottery to decide what weapon they get! Ranging from all the pirate weapons, to no weapon at all, to some spiked gloves.

*Bjorn Olsen reach down the urn*

For Grugnar, its dual Daggers!

*Bjorn Olsen reach down into a hidden compartment to influence the match, and picks up the hidden note*

And for Leo, its rotten wodden club!!!

Would be great entertainment (and you lose the timewasting "weapons or fists" option), and would influence bets :D :D :D
I love this.

Spartacus, right?

These ideas are fun but the amount of randomness it implies is huge. Speaking of my character if i end up with a leather armor and a greataxe i won't be able to touch anyone and my AC will drop dramatically.

These ideas are perfect for all the strength based-warriors though (you biased sturdy dwarf  )

And if we follow your logic with the armors let's fight without anything but an armor (or clothes) and weapons.

Too random and extreme for my taste I must say.

I think one can only do it with weapons (if you want "fair", use the D100 roll).

Armor, all have the same leather armors (I guess one can option for a robe).

As a character who relies alot on armor and a specific weapon (not pirate weapon), I wont benefit at all. On the contrary. But it would be nice to see a real brawler take at it.

Dual daggers is not that great for a frenzied berzerker with no twoweapon fighting feats. Rotten wooden club would be.

It just makes it so random. No matter the build, if you're a berzerker, monk or duelist, its totally random who wins (higher levels might get beaten by much lower levels, if weapons if perfect for the lowlevels and horrible for the higher, etc.). We're not there to win really, just to have fun. So I am totally in favor of extremely random matches.

Great thing for the bets (which sadly tends to be metagamed otherwise) :D :D :D

Yes, Spartacus :)
