Umm...Can we all come back?

Unread post by andreamaine »

I will begin playing a younger version of Nedylene Vrinn (AKA Nedylene Rahn) to help in bringing back life to the underdark and Sshamath. As I have come to understand from the Grand History of the Realms, the Forgotten Realms Wiki, and the Forgotten Realms Underdark Book this city is not a city of Lolthite Fanaticism.

I would like to see an RP though start up that has some struggel between the different factions within Drow society and with other Underdark factions. To this end everything must and should be according to server rules and all PvP situations shall be administrated and officiated by a DM or more.

You are not alone in your sentiment! I encourage all willing Drow players to return/start characters/play! I would love to see an organized Eilistraeeeian facton, and an organized Vhaeraunite faction. The Underdark though is very much 'alive' at the moment, so I would say, though.

As the current faction leader for the Temple of Lolth, this has been my intention for beginning. :3

storm munin's PC leads a rather interesting House, split between Eilistraee's and Lolth's worshipers, while a player leading a Vhaerunite House seems to be active too.

In general lots of older players seem to express interest in the UD these days, which is a good thing. Someone even posted in the old Bregan thread too.

Have more organized "events" might further improve rp and as such i am for it.
However I must say that many UD toons already engage in frictional roleplaying if more centered on the individual level.

The only complaint i have really is that for the setting perhaps too many toons are too willing to act as slave/servants to drow priestessess (regardless of faith even).

Lilith (Lolthite) is not a nice person and the apperance of subservience is adviceable.
Ardulafae (eilistraean) on the other hand is very friendly/tolerant but recieves about the same willingness to servitude.
"Drojal zhah obdoluth dorb'd streeak, Lueth dro zhah zhaunau dorb'd ogglin."
"Existence is empty without chaos, Life is boring without enemies." So sayeth Lady Lolth, Queen of Chaos.

PC: Natalya, wandering enchantress.

That is quite true.
Slavery Guidelines

It's a little sad that some people are not aware of the local "peculiarities" of Sshamath in comparison to other drow cities, especially the fact that matrons have no real power like the Conclave does. 10 minutes in this part of the forum can really help a newbie behave much more in accordance to the setting.

I say let people RP what they want. A lot of people really enjoy Lolthite RP (including myself, Lolthite Drow are my favorite in FR); I would go so far to say most Drow players enjoy the Lolthite genre. However, I understand Sshamath's lore as well, the Matrons lost a civil war and the Council of Matrons fell from power (to be replaced by the Conclave). Still, I think many faithful of the Spider-Queen are present in the city, perhaps making it still the most dominant religion amongst the Drow to the present cycle.

I choose to play a Lolthite priestess because thats the RP I enjoy, and I feel many other Lolthite Drow (in the faction or not), enjoy the RP that comes with Lolth's dogma. Even non-Lolthites I feel like to see the presence of Spider-Queen's faithful. They are the most notorious clergy I would say in the whole Underdark - adding to the flare of the RP, and (dare I say?) improving the general activity in the UD.

According to Sshamath Lore, Ilharess (Matron) Laele Zauvirr holds a Seat on the Conclave as the most powerful Lolthite matron in Sshamath. (CLICK HERE, 'Sshamath's ruling conclave') So I have to disagree that Lolthites don't hold any power at all. For two thousand years Sshamath fell in accordance with the Way of Lolth, the influence of that time is still very prevalent in the city. Indeed, Sshamath is now secular, and not a matriarchal society. However, that is not to say Lolthites still don't have some influence, power, and are respected/obeyed by those who remain faithful to Lolth.

Lolth is the Queen of the Dark Seldarine. Vhaeraune, Eilistraee, Kiaransalee, Selvetarm, Ghaunadaur are all weaker and lesser deities - struggling (and failing) to gain the power she has. Most Drow cities are within her dominion, and she holds considerable power, and influence in the Underdark (rivaled even with Shar). So I think it is unwise to cut Lolthites out of Sshamath's picture as a whole, and so far it seems to not have happened in the RP/lore.

(Dare I also mention that in the terrible 4th Edition she becomes the sole Drow deity? Hehe.)

@C_aribou I didn't mean that case. People who understand the lore are obviously fine and welcomed. I enjoy seeing people RPing like your or other Lolthites do but I don't think it makes sense when many newbies play non-Lolthites who appear extremely eager to satisfy every drow's wish (especially if it's a female). Sshamath is far more liberal than other drow cities yet you see many people RPing this kind of servitude-like behavior towards females. I just think that a place like this would probably attract more people who wouldn't be willing to tolerate the standard drow city regulations.

Anyway, maybe it's just how I see it. Often I consider PMing people and informing them of this detail regarding lore-Sshamath but it seems a bit intrusive...

However I sense we are getting quite off-topic here: The fact is that UD does have certain activity this period and many low-levels too. So if anyone wants to build and level a new PC, this is the time to do so ;) .

And if you want an RP bond to help you party with other people don't forget about the 7th Circle  *discretely points to the cyan link in his sig*

Very true, Drem half the times just follows them around sometimes before playing tricks on them but now he usually every so often watches the fresh (lower lvls 1-10) 7th members occassionally offering buffs or something to help their progress.... Tons of lvl 1-10s right now though so hop in the fun :D!!
