Re: Items to be removed! please read!!!!
The Purple Dragon Ring was the same ring without the immunity, and instead of that it had +2 Save vs. Poison and (I believe) +1 Universal Saves. So if they made the Belt, I think it would have a save or DR vs. the element instead of the immunity.

it would be possible to set up a PC in the nexus that will allow you to stash some XP and gold (by cd-key) so that you, in effect, could bank your characters, maybe up to a maximum limit of 20 levels worth of XP.
That wold allow people to remake their main character post-wipe.
Hands down, the server is in Beta so it is "legal" to do a wipe.
Addictive as this game is, I doubt that people will leave because of a wipe.
Wanna play NWN 2 online, this server basicly is the only place to be
I agree with this 100%
a wipe with every character getting their xp and gold back.
Sure we would all lose some items and some gold in this version, but its really not that big of a deal in the long term.

Alright this might be an odd solution.. but here is a thought that I think you can do...
Have the nexus lady do an inventory check.. .if there is an immunity item equipped or on the person... her dialog to trigger the choice of going in game doesnt fire.. and a purchase script fires instead giving X amount of gold for the item or put a trash barrel next to her so people can simply throw their item away. Thus in order to get in game.. you cannot have an immunity item on you. If later it is determined that there are other items leaked into game..you could use the same script again but change the properites it is looking for.
Maybe I'm over simplifying the solution.. but the nexus is a filter point.. that will eventually get everyone playing.

Not a big deal to you. This is not about gold/xp/items. Some people spend alot of time and effort playing their characters around here, building and creating stories, living their characters lives; as if your reading a FR Salvatore novel.Izz'orgoll wrote:Knightmare wrote:It would be better set everybody back to square one so that all can play on equal terms.

If you don't, that's fine, but don't act like it's not a big deal. To a lot of people it is. If done, alot of people would dissappear and see how much rp would go on then and how the server as a whole would most likely suffer.

But if you're remaking the same character with a tiny bit less of experience you're still keeping the same story, no?

Re: Items to be removed! please read!!!!
No wipes of any sort will be done guys. I'm asking everyone to take a minute and report there immunity items to be reinbursed. Immunity items are the only items being taken away so please lets all not panic. Items that have partial resistance like 20 Spell resitance or damage reduction slashing /10 as examples are fine. We would just like to collect back Full immunity items and nothing more. But yes I will extend the time period slightly to 2 weeks tops, but the sooner we can get these items off the server the better. So please speak with a DM for reinbursement before this offer expires .

Heh.. This is awesome I really have to say. Immunity items should be removed and now they will be!
I remember long time back me and some others argued that immunity items should be removed, however back then the boss and some others stated that items earned by players way back through rp and events should remain in the players inventories (and that included some very powerful immunity items; i.e crit immunity among others).
Im very glad and impressed to see this implemented.
Kudos to Kelsfar and the people that have been pushing this behind the scene (I can imagine there has been hot debates behind closed doors:D )
Cheers!

Yes, this reversal of a policy clarified more than once is excellent. Especially for those people who were able to sell their items at inflated prices with the assurances posted that these things wouldnt be removed clearly on the boards. Its too bad those that bought them arent getting to keep them, but hey.. too bad!Avantor wrote:Heh.. This is awesome I really have to say. Immunity items should be removed and now they will be!

Even better is that many of these items were given as rewards for good RP during long-standing story arcs and DM-driven plot quests.. nothing I hate more than rewarding good RP! Its Elitist!
Who cares what the players think that have played here for months, or even a whole year.. they are just mad cuz they cant have their toys, its nothing to do with the principal of the matter or anything... just pure whining. We are lucky the newcomers don't whine about not having them!
I for one am just glad we werent ALL here when 10 people online was a lot, and when chests werent in existance, and when lag stopped you dead in your tracks for minutes at a time. I am glad we didnt all have to suffer through the creation of the largest player-run guilds or help test new content for the server. If we did, we might not understand the frustrations of some people.
Yay!

if you are given back all of your xp and gold, how would this affect your characters biography, and relationships with other characters?
Your character should not change a single bit. Unless I am overlooking something?
Trust me I RP the hell out of my characters, and they all have well crafted backgrounds that control them.

Re: Items to be removed! please read!!!!
@Broham2: So being here early, doing great rp for decades equals overpowered item bonus? Your argument only holds as long as you argue that an item is slightly unbalanced and not totally off the scale.
If we follow your argument, answer me this:
Rob the glob has been playing here since this server was a fetus. He has nurished it, contributed greatly with roleplaying, played back when only 5 players were online. Therefore he gets to keep a sword + 1000?
Of course most players would agree that a sword + 1000 is way off balance. My point is; how powerful an item is and how "fair" it is for you to keep it is related. The more powerful / unbalanced an item you get to keep, the less "fair" it is that some get to keep.
It would be better and more fruitful to discuss which items can pioner players get to keep (that others might not have) that seems reasonable, and immunity crit item is not one of them imo.
Cheers

Re: Items to be removed! please read!!!!
There is no immunity to crit item, as far as I know or have seen... aside from the Pale Master gem which is a substitute for a class ability thats broken.
Freedom of Movement
Poison
Fear
Magic Missle
Mind Affects
These are the common ones.
Then there is an amulet of health that sold for more than 150k if I recall correctly back at a time when 25gp/pelt and 50gp/horn were the ONLY way of making money.

Re: Items to be removed! please read!!!!
an item with freedom of movement on it is an insane immunity.
immunity mind affects is also an insane immunity
immunity magic missile also very powerful
i agree immunity poison ain't so hot, immunity to a single spell (like immunity: powerword kill) is not so hot and immunity: fear not so hot.
immunity items are the #1 game unbalancing item that can be put on a server, regardless of who's hands they fall into (veteran or noob), regardless of whether they were "earned", regardless of whether they were acquired prior to sanity prevailing.
to put it another way, some DMs in the past have made mistakes in passing out items that are too powerful for this world.
Mistakes exist to be corrected, not enshrined in some kind of cruft of accumulated bad decisions.

Re: Items to be removed! please read!!!!
Given these immunities are easily achieved with 1st level spells (Protection from Alignment and Shield respectively) and then also easily extended with metamagic feats to fill an entire rest cycle I'm not sure I agree that these are insane or powerful. As a caster the other benefits of the spells would preclude me from choosing magical jewelery with these immunities over them even and so this nerf really only hurts the non-caster crowd.adzling wrote:immunity mind affects is also an insane immunity
