At the cyclical open forum in Gloura's Ilphryssin presents his idea to break the monopoly of deities on afterlives and paradise:

"To end the monopoly on their cosmic trust scheme and give the oppertunity to all civilized races to rid themselves of the chains of Slaverly to these entities I propose that the city explore methods of permanently binding souls into the city's mythal or the use of a demi plane therefore.

In exchange for a 'modest' fee we could offer free souls a permanent place in our paradise and also guarantee they wouldn't ever have to demean themselves to being godslaves again! If this business venture is sucessfull I foresee that it could also give us significant leverage in our dealings with the Abyss and Baator since their supply of souls will become scarcer. In exchange for benefits we could increase the price of entry into our paradise for example allowing these groups to collect more souls.

This future business scheme could yield significant profit for the city and would surely mean an influx of free minded people and arcane research as well as regular trade"

He then concludes with the remark:
"After all, history teaches us that even deities can die, why should we be godslaves instead of masters of our own destinty? Some would have you believe we are too weak to be so - But that is not true for the citizens of our City!"

Several present Faerns applaud with much entheusiasm but some of the more pious folk become somewhat disgruntled and make less loftly noises.
