Background: Gareth was born into quite a roaming magical family filled with powerful warlocks and sorcerors, They traversed all the lands they could from shadowdales to Icewind Dale, and even to Thay and other remote places of the realm, however Gareth seemed incapable of casting spells born from his blood early on unlike his brothers and sisters . He ,disturbed by this fact, found that through study he could do better and infact could master more spells than his brothers and sisters could ever imagine . He became a spell casting prodigy learning every spell he could from every wizard he could find . He left the protection of his family after they had nothing more to teach him and nothing more they could do, he even dropped the last name to signify this thus severing ties to his family in the pursuit of knowledge and power. This led him on the search for more powerful spells with that he feels would make him vastly more powerful, even willing to sacrifice his body in the process for the advancement of his own power. Upon arriving in Baldur's Gate he found himself purchasing as many spells as he could from various sources. He is trying to amass the largest of spell books and master every single arcane spell in existance only then would he be proud of what he has done and would claim himself to be an archmage. He as of late has tried to make friends with all sorts of people just so he can have access to their spell book and learn from them. He isn't too great with people but saving their sorry hides is good enough for him. As such is the result with a certain Cleric of Myrkul named Zerith, he saved him from being killed by two elves and a dwarf by making the elves statues and killing the dwarf outright. Zerith owes his life to Gareth and thus ever since it isn't quite odd to see both Gareth and Zerith together.
Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts: Deals with various evil creatures for more power, willing to enter into service of an evil cleric or mage in order to get various spells from them to learn. Possibly Interested in becoming a vampire or a lich as to make his study of spells last longer.
