According to the description of what it is and does ....... if you cast it on a hipster it should take him out of hips and prevent him or her from going back into hips.

So yes if this works as intended in the spell description and you have enough listen or spot this could be deadly to hipsters. :)

Even a light spell if cast on someone should prevent hips technically, but yeah, this is nwn2. )-:

The only viable option, in case it was cast on sneakers, should be lowering their Hide skill. We cannot really prevent them from engagin in the Stealth mode, mechanically (HiPS is but a feat that allows useage of Stealth in plain sight.)
Pulling them out of hiding even after a split second will still result in them losing the status of "Current Target" (i.e., it will clear the action queue of the opponent), plus you can easily avoid those penalties with some.. uh.. exploits.

Lowering "Hide" skill is the best compromise... In case we do want it to be implemented. I'm just speaking technicalities.

Most servers rely on the players to cooperate in this for RP purposes of course, but I was surprised to not see that in the rules here somewhere.. unless I missed it?

If it's expected, you don't need a rule to clarify it...

HiPS is not concealment

one might even argue because its not bright light to cause light blindness to kick in that it might not even be bright enough to affect hiding

however the slightest light in a pitch dark corner is gonna show, but if the spell gives off light then by mechanics they will get that penalty for having lighted items or light cast on them

so again if you have 0 spot you will not be able to tell the difference vs hide in plain sight
everyone is evil till proven otherwise

Anyway, we can let the DM's sort that one out, but as per the original post the spell is simply not working. :)

Silence needs a check to see if the target is immune before the silence is applied.

Tested silence with an item that had "Spell Immunity: Silence". Unlike in nwn1 silence is only castable on the ground, not on a target. Entering the area with "Spell Immunity: Silence" still applied silence. Being in the AoE at casting also still gave the silence effect. As of right now, there are no situations I was able to test where the Spell Immunity applied.

Silence can be targeted, but that gives the target a saving throw. Casting it on the ground allows for no saving throw, but you can move out of the affected area to avoid being silenced. Silence immunity will block silence when it is targeted on you, but not the AOE unfortunately.

hello,

i think Evards Black Tentacles do not work as intended in the spellchanges thread:
http://bgtscc.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=16494
Evards Black Tentacles now uses an attack roll of d20 + caster level + 4 instead of d20 + 5. This allows the spell to scale and hit opponents closer to the pnp rules (should be a melee touch attack). If the target is hit a grapple check is made (d20 + caster level + 8 vs the targets BAB + strength modifier + d20). A successful grapple deals the damage as normal.
thing is, i can cast it on the ground and run right through it without problems (except some damage) i tested it on another player (with consent) and he told me all he had to do was a fortitude save, whats kind of weird as the modified EBT shouldn't make Fort. saves anymore at all.

here a screen from the player i casted it at:
Image

he stood in them for maybe a minute without anything more happening

Testmon, I think it's ok. The fort is for entering the tentacles (see below).
It looks like he just had DR vs the damage then after that based on your screen shot.

the target must make a Fortitude Save versus paralysis or be paralyzed for 1 round.

hello,
what i meant more is, that from my observation the grapplecheck seems to be off. (the other line with the paralysis made a succesful hide check from my observation)

i can run through the tentacles during their whole duration and nothing happens (did that 3-4 times) then i got the idea that i got pale master levels and that those maybe make me immune to the grapple, so i asked another PC, but as written above, he had not problems with the spell either. then just 2minutes ago i summoned an earth elemental, after that a water elemental and ran with it behind me through the tentacles, the water elemental has a BAB of 15 and a str. mod of +8, right now my caster level is 21, so
If the target is hit a grapple check is made (d20 + caster level + 8 vs the targets BAB + strength modifier + d20)
me: d20+21+8 = ~ 39
it: 15+8+d20 = ~ 33
so when i ran trough it with 2elementals for the whole duration of the spell one of them, or me, or the other guy i tested it on should have been grappled.

now i know that elementals are immune to paralysis, but they are not immune to grapple, as i can stun even my own elementals with a grapple-bigby

What is your caster level?

It has to hit first (before grapple).

The hit is going to be determined a bit by your caster level.

still 21, and i have seen lots of hits with it. the elementals all had damage reduction of 10 so they got hit but never damaged, i got damaged though.
