Re: Underdark General Discussion Thread
This hasn't been added to in a while and the server is down so I'll put down some thoughts for discussion. There are a couple things that bug me about the whole drow thing in Sshamath.
Language: All of us Drow are capable of speaking drow with the DMFI. My Drow character obviously speaks his language fluently. I, being the human pushing the buttons controlling the pixels on the screen, do not speak Drow. While using some Drow language mixed with common in game is good for RP in my opinion, an overabundance of it is frustrating. I love the Vendui and Aluve and don't mind the occasional xas, bwael, and nau, but when you get deeper than that and it's used more than that it just plain frustrates me. If you're going to speak common then speak common. If you are going to speak drow then speak drow. When every other word is usstan, dos, nau, xas, bwael, vendui, aluve, ilharess, qu'ellar, quelfaruk, quelsaruk, quelmaiquk....please! I would think the drow would want to use their language most of the time anyway as they would only resort to speaking common to the "lesser" races.
My only other gripe are the priestesses of Lolth out there. If you are a priestess then please have something written in your description such as "wears the holy symbol of Lolth around her neck". I do not enjoy having to ask every female I see if they are a priestess or not. Nor do I enjoy getting whipped when I don't kneel fast enough because I am trying to discern if she is a priestess.

Re: Underdark General Discussion Thread
My question is, so I want to create a drow mage and lets say said drow mage wants to join CM, so if he is a Shadow Weave user and follower of Shar will this be accepted?Kelsfar wrote:
Also Shar seems to be a rising Goddess within Sshamath and it is known that a Sharite by the name of Nurissa Vyllshan is pushing the conclave to allow Shadow magic (Magic from the shadow weave) to be an official school and for her to take a seat of power within the conclave. The city has ties with the Zhentarim and Darkhold.
And how are the current mages getting their power? I assume through the Weave and Mystra?

I wish you could update your player description on the fly. I find most people either don't fill out a description or don't understand how to implement a logical one. I always took it like:
When you right click and choose examine, this should tell you more about what you can see physically about the person and possibly discern if you look closely. It could be sight, smell, a feeling you get when close to the person, "sends shivers up your spine", this person talks funny, accent, and so on.
I often see people put their players complete history in the player description which I always thought was not very logical. I have seen others put there Character Sheet stats in there. Guess its up to you what you put into it, but doesn't make much sense some of the things you read on the right click examine.
I remember in an event the DM complaining about people not filling out there descriptions any more and just leaving that generic one in there. I think anyone who had a good description or at least modified it got a better reward at the end of the event, that's what is seemed to me at the time.
Getting back to the Drow thing, I think yes it would be a good idea for a proud priestess of Lloth to put in their description like:
You can see by her markings and carriage she is a devotee to Lloth
She looks at you with the usual disdain....
But being able to update on the fly would be really the answer. There might be times when someone might want to act non-descript and wear a disguise or something, other times they definitely want you to know who they are and expect to be treated preferentially, immediately!

Re: Underdark General Discussion Thread
I don't know how drow view this in general, but if you start shadow weaving around a drow weave user, they might percieve you a threat and kill you, since they have trouble sensing what you do (though the same would go for you watching them weaving.)talon wrote:My question is, so I want to create a drow mage and lets say said drow mage wants to join CM, so if he is a Shadow Weave user and follower of Shar will this be accepted?Kelsfar wrote:

If your a follower of Shar you better keep that a secret
Since Drow use the weave as their source of magic they would kill any follower of Shar especialy at Sshamath .

Re: Underdark General Discussion Thread
actually there is an ongoing effort to get a new chair added to the Conclave that revolves around the Shadow Weave (secretly supported by followers of Shar of course).
this is part of Sshamathian lore iirc

Re: Underdark General Discussion Thread
and out of the shadows popped the Sharran DM.
Hey everyone. I'm DMside in charge of our local Sharran cult and all the rogue Shadow Weave mages out there (someone has to slowly drive them insane after all
).
In order not to have half a server of shadow weave users, I like to keep track of who does. So please get in touch with me if you're not registered yet. Should you decide you want to sign up, I shall welcome you into a wider, darker world!
Thanks a lot.

Does anyone know where the rogue merchant went to? I cannot seem to find him and I am crashing every transition in the UD, so if you can point me in the right direction that would be great! thanks!

Unless something has changed recently he should still be in the locked room in the exotic merchants shop.
I'm the guy that kills you by using your own greed and stupidity against you while making you laugh about it.
Enjoy!
