Baldur's Gate Gazette Volume IV Issue 5

Unread post by Eifer »

Deep in the Claw of Winter, the city of Baldur's Gate is still on edge from the recent War. Many do not sleep comfortably in their beds this night. What will the morrow bring? As the sky brightens and Lathander's eye crests, the bustling metropolis is relieved to see what the day indeed did bring; a legion of paper-boys, all bearing a new issue of the Baldur's Gate Gazette!

Meanwhile, in Beregost, many do not have even a bed to sleep in. Even so, the boys dutifully distribute all the way into the war-weary town, proffering Gazettes with an eager smile. Up and down the Trade Way, headlines can be heard shouted, papers waved at passing merchant caravans.

Elycia Innovius, Editor of the Baldur's Gate Gazette, can be found near the Friendly Arm Inn. She discusses with various paper boys now and then, presumably giving instructions and hearing their feedback on the distribution progress. Noon-time has the bardess hurrying back towards Baldur's Gate, to fetch another cart-full of Gazettes for more interested readers.

Delphinn sits down at his usual spot in the Elfsong Tavern and opens up the Gazette. His eyes scan the pages as he lifts his goblet to his mouth and drink his wine. Wine is soon sent spewing across his table followed by a hacking cough. He flashes an embarassed grin to barmaid, confusion plain on his face.

"Rhys and Rai... in love?"

As if those words alone explain his behavior.

The red-clad poet reads over most of the paper with a frown... by the end of it though she is laughing hysterically... to the point of tears... As she heads south she can be heard muttering about the gala selective press and convenience... Though what she means by that is anyone's guess.
"Play nice." Mum
"Mercy, even to the least deserved."
"Revenge is beneath me, but Accidents happen..."
"Even Echoes fade to silence."

Picking up the copy of the Gazette of the Blade and Stars Inn Maelir quickly reads the various articles before staring at the last page.
Nearby customers could hear him wondering in an incredulous tone about Elycia's fate after such an article.

Hoihe on his way to Candlkekeep from the Gate, he sees paperboys selling the news... He takes some and continues back to the keep. Finaly reading them, he chuckles... No laughs at the last page.
