Basilisk Quest

Is this supposed to reset or is it a one time only quest?

I have handed in a egg once before (maybe a month ago), but the wizard wont acknowledge the egg i now currently hold even though the quest has been re-initiated through conversation with the wizard and is in my journal. In the conversation have you got the basilisk egg yet? the only option i get is no even though its in my inventory

any help?

Try destroying the egg in your inventory and then picking up a new one?

It won't register if you just get it traded from someone else in my experience. Not sure if that was how you acquired it of course.

If I remember correctly I think I actually picked it up just before a full reset but never got chance to hand in, then on re-entry had to re-initiate the quest and presumably the 'taking of the egg' rather than 'possession of the egg' fulfills the quest reqs in this case. I'll rerun it, thanks for your responses.
