Re: Underdark General Discussion Thread
SO I made an underark ranger without really thinking about it. Only hellhound seems to fit from the game selection, but surely, underdark rangers would train underdark creatures. I wish my panther was a displacer beast.

OR! The usual strategy HiPS+Full-linerun-berserk-assault-in-HiPS does not work. I moved freely without HiPS with use of my rouge and was not detected by monsters of my challenge rating. And I use shop gear. I think it depends on usage by player, not ability vs area.
To be honest, area of UD is awesome for rogues. There are many obstacles preventing line of sight unlike with surface, so HiPS is optional.

HIPSIng will work if you have 2 levels of Cavestalker. That PRC is in the process of being added.

Re: Underdark General Discussion Thread
No it is a PRC I coded myself but it is from D&D Canon lore. You can find it in the Drow of the Underdark sourcebook. Basically it is a class that lets Rangers and Druids use their abilities in the Underdark. It's also fairly interesting for Rogues down there. The downside is you lose those abilities if you go to the surface. (But regain them in the Underdark)

The translation into NWN2 is almost completely by the book. Some small changes because not all PnP skills are present in the game.

Yeah man...he is such a hero, I even find hard to put it into the appropriate words...All those classes make me wanna do new toons, and in particular the Cavestalker will be the worst fear of surfacers approaching the UD...believe me

What are you talking about? xD There's more Hipsters in the UD than anything else... (Seems to be a popular trend. Not sure why)
^^^ I've seen Aelcar hips the friggin' fiend. xD (The only person other than Pyro, I've ever seen hips this creature.

No worries man, he isnt that much of a spotter
. And thankfully, since he is fast and deadly...and huge...and mean...and extremely resistant to magic... (you know something? I like his style...)

Re: Underdark General Discussion Thread
Rasael that looks great
(also saw the icons for feats request)
Roughly how close are you to implementing the new classes .. Cavestalker and Blood Mage as well?
Also do you have any plan to work up the Drow Bloodsister class? *crosses fingers*
And in regard to BG in general, I have to admit I am awed by the various talent working on this site, and by the help and advice so freely given by many of the players here.

Re: Underdark General Discussion Thread
I added 5 classes so far for my coming update, all are done except for Man-at-Arms because I haven't started on it yet.
-Cavestalker
-Archmage
-Blood Magus
-Order of the Bow Initiate
-Man-at-Arms (pnp = Knight)
I'm also considering adding Marshal and Scout but I haven't read up on any other PRCs yet.
None of these are from Kaedrin's pack, don't assume they will work the same. They will go into QC testing after the update before being enabled. That way we test the bugs and filter out the worst ones before a public release

Re: Underdark General Discussion Thread
Wouldn't it make more sense to allow UD rangers to get their stuff to work in the UD by default rather than have to take a specific PRC to get the effect you should get anyway? Seems like a needless restriction on builds.
Just seems....odd to me. Unless it's some kind of engine limitation that it needs to come from a PRC.
I've been wanting to make a very specific build ranger for the UD, but the fact that none of my ranger abilities would work...except on the surface, has really turned me off to it. Seeing the ability for my base class abilities to work in my native region being placed in a PRC.....meh. I appreciate the effort, but it seems like it's going in the wrong place.

Re: Underdark General Discussion Thread
Rangers were never meant to be for caves, mainly because normal natural habitat is outdoors. I believe it is hard to make inverted version of this feat and make a choice presented for player on 'class lv-up' because of how mechanics perceives outdoors vs indoors question. For Oghma's sake, drow blindness should work only in daylight, but it works ALWAYS if outdoors!
