Crafting skills to identify stuff

I was thinking about the issue, why you can only identify unknown stuff by lore checks.
In my opinion, for example, someone with a good craft weapon skill should be able to tell about weapons. He should be able to see of what material the weapon is crafted, also if it is of good quality.

The same for armor (craft armor), traps (craft traps) and potions (craft alchemy)

Or perhaps those skills can give you a little bonus on the lore checks?

Sadly the identify mechanic when you aquire a new item is hardcoded. We can't make it automatically use these skills if they are higher and applicable because of that.
