suggestion: make duelists "improved reaction" instant

Unread post by Theodore01 »

is it possible to make a duelists "improved reaction" instant and selftargeting?

as done with Oaken Resilience, Rage, and Blinding Speed are now instant feats.

i dont see anything wrong with it in its current state

it cant be dispelled anymore and its haste

the pnp version is just initiative check bonus

only if you have a low number of duelist levels i suppose would it matter much, 10 duelist gets a minute of haste which is pretty nice

and goin into it more on rules

Extraordinary Abilities (Ex)

Extraordinary abilities are nonmagical, though they may break the laws of physics. They are not something that just anyone can do or even learn to do without extensive training.

These abilities cannot be disrupted in combat, as spells can, and they generally do not provoke attacks of opportunity. Effects or areas that negate or disrupt magic have no effect on extraordinary abilities. They are not subject to dispelling, and they function normally in an antimagic field.

Using an extraordinary ability is usually not an action because most extraordinary abilities automatically happen in a reactive fashion. Those extraordinary abilities that are actions are standard actions unless otherwise noted.

the pnp version of it would be instant yes, however its because initiative is not an action

haste however is an action and as the last line says if its an action its a standard action unless otherwise noted, which means it should be a normal cast as it is already

I just want to say Blinding Speed needed to be instant, because there was no justification in wasting an epic feat on it in its original state. I'm pretty sure no one takes it even with its buff.

How many Duelists are there on the server? Unless it's under-represented then I'd suggest that it doesn't need any bolstering. IMO this should be the approach to any request for boosting a classes power.

I don't think there are many around, I play one, it would be a nice change but I don't really think it's needed.

I have three, all completely different, although two are fledgling. Duelist offers some interesting features, with the AC boost, Parry, additional damage, useful skills. I guess I like characters with high Intelligence, so that's why I have so many.

You can just target yourself, wouldn't make much sense otherwise ^^

i mean quite now, when you active it, you manually have to target yourself with it.

would be much easier to use, if you could just activate it without the need to target yourself.
