En Dharasha Everae RP thread

Unread post by Maverick 40 »

In the Begining

They gathered in the camp before the bridge. Laisren Ua Tiernan had called for those capable within the new community of Dharasha Everae to begin their scouting of the northern passes. As they gathered, several other elves came to see why their brethren came. Several had questions for the recent events of their kin and Laisren began to tell the tale of how their small community had come to be.

They all discussed matters respectfully and with discord befitting proper elves. Narindir would even come to sit but after hearing Laisren's story began to offer the contradicting arguments proposed by the Council of Doron. Laisren, now standing with his beloved Saline Ledwent, offered Narindir no chance for recourse. Their community was to be forged by those events like iron within the fire and they would not be bent.

When the meeting adjourned, they began their trek north gathering more elves as they moved north. The forward scouts, warpriests handling most of all hostile creatures within their path and when those unfortunate enough to flank the expedition met with tremendous volleys of arrows. They moved quickly and without trouble, until finding the bard Tildon fallen upon the Boreskyr bridge north.

Showing they would be willing to work with others whom prove themselves friends to the people, they offered him join and he did, even offering them the proposed entertainment of riding the Drakes found in the high moor. Although this did not end well, all were amused and enjoyed the bards company. They cut through hobgoblins like a knife through butter until they reached a dark road into the north.

Saline, having grown up within these lands and acting as guide, led them down this path. They would all be shocked by what they were to see, including Saline. They had found their kin but not as they should be, nor even truly amongst the living. The party was forced to slay their now turned brethren and searched for the source of this corruption. What they found was more terrible than they had imagined.

A giant temple stood as a testament to some evil force. The party gathered their formidable strength and fought their way to it's peak, slaying countless undead. They had come to far now, had wasted much in supply and ammunition. They stood before the dark door leading into this den of evil and knew then, that it must be purged if they were ever to bring their people north. As they stood before the door, throngs of their evil kin began to swarm and they made the decision to move to safety and gather a greater force to return.

Laisren gathered the party and they teleported back to the safety of Baldur's lands and so it seems the Dharasha Everae's adventures had begun........

Mission:
The mission of En Dharasha Everae is to provide a safe place where all elven kind and likeminded can live free from physical and spiritual persecution. To allow the freedom to contribute only what one wishes to and yet partake in the bounty of all.

The founding members of En Dharasha Everae _ seek to provide this not out of resentment or ill will of past ventures, but out of love for their brethren whom they hold in the highest regard. This community is born from the strengths of all elven kind; mind, spirit and arm.

//OOC: thanks to all whom attended, little hectic but I hope you had fun :D
(I will continue to work on involving more RP into such a large party too ;) )

It was by a pure chance Valge had found herself in the midst of these elves and their search for a new safe settlement. She made her usual round of haggling with the merchant at the Friendly Arms Inn when she saw Laisren and they started to talk. She knew little of him but when she first had arrived to the region as a foreigner, he and Mendel had welcomed her as their kin and showed her Donor Amar. So when Laisren said he no longer lived there she knew something was amiss. His story was a long and sad one, and as he spoke other elves came and sat down to listen. Valge knew that despite that she had only met Laisren once before, that this was an elf that others looked up to and followed and most important of all, was someone who acted in the world for the right reasons. If she would speak of this aloud, it would make little sense but as Valge thought of it, together with the feelings in her gut, it seemed clear so she chose to trust and believe him. Laisren had also spoken of things she had tried to gain information on but doors been slammed in her face with a 'you're not important enough' sign. When Laisren was finished with his story, he stood up united with his beloved Saline and asked for others to join them in seeking a new safe settlement. Some had hesitated and some had no doubt at all. While Valge had no intention to live amongst the elves like an elf, she was curious of it all and wanted to see it with her own eyes. What she had then seen had even further made her sure of that some darkness troubled the lands. If she could help rid of it, she would.

The warm evening carried a gentle bouquet of wildflowers. Faint scents lingered and surrounded her occasionally broken by a brighter more pungent flower asking for attention.

Elethineth walked through the meadow’s high grasses to a small knoll. There she waited for moonrise and considered the journey to Dharash Everae.

She looked up seeing the stars brighten and emerging brighter and brighter as the sky’s blue darkened into dusk’s dark purple. She gazed to the north where Ieryn blazed it’s nightly beacon. Some call it the North Star or the Sailor’s Star. On cloudless nights sailors and others would use it to navigate and find their destinations safely.

Adjacent to it, Mystra’s Star twinkled its bright blue light. A huge awesome constellation circle of bright stars could be drawn from the two, completing Mystra’s Star Circle. At the circle’s center was utter darkness. These stars were always the first she would find in the sky.

She turned her gaze from one landmark to another. “Y’tellarin, the Far Star.” Tonight it would be the center of her thoughts and prayers. Y’tellarin was there among the other stars yet somehow it seemed more distant. It’s sparkle hinted of majestic beauty and transformation. A journey is like that, she thought. Destinations always seem distant at first, but then come more fully into one’s vision as it is realized. Dharash Everae would be like that.

“Turkeys” she thought and started to laugh a bit. The times hunting turkeys in the SharpTeeth woods has drawn to an end. Today Saline was walking the market in search for turkey and goose for they have the best feathers. She has long provided fowl to the local merchants in trade for the prized feathers for she was an archer and a rather fine one at that.

She knew it would be some time before she would have such a selection where she was headed. It was time to head north again, though this time it would be with the man she grew to trust, to love and soon to marry, Liasren. She smiled as she went about her business, moving to a merchant who specialized in rare woods. “Red, Shererran, Duskwood… Ah Ironwood that will do nicely” she thought. With an odd look the man took her coins and handed her the wood knowing well that Ironwood was only good for fortification and nothing more. She simply smiled back to the man, thanking him.

The evening was approaching and the shops were starting to close as she made her way out of the city. She would have to fletch later for her betrothed waited by the fire. It was not that "she knew better” than to keep him waiting, it was that she was did not wish to wait any longer herself.

Her pace quickened as the sun drew its last breath. Soon she was there, by his side. Laisren was openly discussing things that had come to pass and some that had not yet. Just hearing his voice, the warmth of his body near hers, was as if she was wrapped in a soft blanket lost in a dream. What was said, she did not know nor did she really care, she was at “home”, a feeling that she had not truly known until now.

There Saline stood at the beginnings of the moor; her emotions ran deep. It had been many seasons sense she call this home, a name she knew she would never call it again. Still with each bend, each outcropping she remembered.

While her people use these lands to mask their paths, she stood tall as always, eyeing the beasts that would call her prey. Was it this that made the bow and extension of her will. It is all hard to tell, though she knew it was here that learned her trait, not out of prestige of competition, but out of survival.

Saline was never one hide, perhaps it was her lineage or perhaps she thought it weak, it is not clear. It was clear and on the front of her mind, was that her people would not call this home either. Was it by her doing, avoiding the path that was set forth by her parents or was it enviable. She knew that her leaving was a sign of weakness, but she knew that she could not bear the weight of it.

It was this weakness, this shame that drew her back again but a few moons past. Her intentions where honorable, yet the path slip away with every step. Signs of betrayal and revenge where around every bend. Even now these signs remained. Did the others not see them? What about Laisren? Where the signs for her eyes only? Her heart drew heavy with each breath yet with each breath she let go of the past and took in the future.

Slowly a smile crept across her face, she was by his side seeking out a better future, not just for her, but for all that wish to follow. He had always been true to his word as she had hers, they were to build a better home for their people!

Now beaming, she avoided the paths that would lead her close to the place of her past and pressed on. Her glow soon diminished as they made their way through the older, less traveled parts of the moor… undead kin walking the moors… did the House of Oreth have no soul?

Dharash Everae would be a long journey . . Scouts would be necessary for pathfinding. Defenders would be necessary for perimeter defense. Leaders would be required to organize and unify them. Priests would be needed to bless the effort and grace the community with the Seldarine’s precepts. Musicians would be called on to entertain and lighten dark moods. Naturalists would need to shepherd them in the wilds. Diplomats would be necessary to liason with those they might meet. It would require every skill in the community and then some.

Indeed, it would be a pilgrimage. The community would find its’ strengths and weaknesses. The people of Dharash Everae would be transformed as each fulfilled their own personal pilgrimage.

Love Will Conquer All
Part 2

Laisren stokes the fire, a misty rain floats around him, as much as falls in the high moor. He remained vigilant with all the hobgoblin near but he had prepared series of defensive traps around his camp and hunkered down for some quick reverie. He sat still with his feet beneath him, he relaxed his shoulders and let his hands rest on the twin blades laying gently in his lap. As his eyes closed he began to dream.....

He thought back to the night he and the rest of those whom now call themselves En Dharasha Everae left Doron. They had not left under the hospitable manner befitting those whom had fought and worked to build that community but as he walked beside the woman he loved and the friends he truly trusted, he knew he walked the right path. He knew their goals but despite the unknown that lay before them, he knew all that stood before them would be conquered by the love which they bore each other.

Perhaps that was what was missing within Doron, that while he fought and strove for a purpose, what resided behind that veil offered little in the way of fulfillment. Doron had become a place of politic, one which he knew all too well from the reports he had heard from his mentor but then he had no where else to turn in these lands and had hoped through his efforts and dedication that he might prove himself to the their leadership.

It would seem his reward only mistrust and resentment for his actions. When his love had returned, all of his emotions which he kept locked away behind a dutiful facade were splain out painfully for all those to see. When they all had turned on him, distrusting him and offering scorn before his returned love and her would be assassin, he thought he might loose all control. But, in the end, when he was stripped of all his dignity for all to see, he found what truly mattered, LOVE.......

He awoke with the sun upon his face and grin upon his lips, he had finally found a family it seemed. En Dharasha Everae. Now, he must help find their home.......

Mendel can be regularly seen in the North. Whoever asks him what he is doing there, he replies that he is scouting the area. The truth is that he spends most of his time there to keep his mind off recent events that had turned his life upside down. It has been but a couple of months, since he arrived at the Sword Coast as a caravan escort. He wasn’t planning on staying for long, since that was the life he has chosen – traveling around the Faerun to see new places.

One morning he decided to visit the only Elven village in the Sword Coast, Doron Amar. There he was greeted by Luthien and Elethineth, who were also the first ones to sign up for his citizenship later on. Although he understood and believed in the purpose of Doron Amar he still wasn’t ready to give up his old way of life- traveling alone, with no-one to care for and no responsibilities. Until one afternoon while walking at Nashkel, he met Laisren, the man that would change his life. He was the one that taught him the importance of fighting for a cause and living amongst friends and family. He was also the one that trained him into the warrior he now is.

So when the time came to make a choice, between following his friends or staying and keep serving Doron, he chose his friends. It was a difficult choice as he was already attached to Doron’s way of life. Him leaving would also mean that he would leave behind some people that he respected and cared for, such as his captains Mealir and Laya and the new recruit, Elladyr, who despite the small amount of time he got to know him, he thought very highly of.

Now looking at the faces of Laisren, Saline, Luthien, Elethineth and the rest who decided to join them, he knows that he had made the right choice. Not only because he shares their vision but because he knows that they are the ones that will have his back when needed, no matter what. So even though he knows that the path in front of them is a difficult one, he is certain that together they will achieve their goals.

Recent happenings outside the Friendly Arms Inn had made Valge retreat to the woods. She had not made the decision with a light heart as she did enjoy observing people. When people had observed her too much in return and she had seen and felt their desire for blood, her conclusion had been that the walls and laws in the towns would not protect her as these beings saw themselves higher than the law, or chose to disregard it whenever it pleased them. In the woods, the branches and bushes would form protective shields around her whenever she was in any danger and they would whisper words of comfort and the sound of running rivers would soothe her. Valge was sitting next to a river with Lumi at her knees who was sleeping after a heavy meal of fresh bear meat. Perhaps others would see her retreat as a weakness but Valge knew what battles to choose and for this one, she wasn't strong enough. Not yet. She would not forget however. Her long life was well suited for patience, in time misfortune would come to those who meant ill, and then she would rejoice.

Hours seemed to pass while Valge and Lumi sat by that river, one sleeping loudly and the other in silent reflection. Those she had so far asked had answers which surprised her. Perhaps she could gain more understanding, see things from more than one pair of eyes. valge remembered Laisren's words and what he had told her of what he hoped En Dharasha Everae would come. She decided that she would hear his answers and then reflect again. Lumi half-opened her eyes and lazily peeked at Valge as she stood up and began chanting. The fur on Lumi started to stand up and a strange trickling feeling, like a wind penetrating the protection of her fur,. Lumi opened her eyes wider, alert now, ears twitching and moving in every direction, eyes peering into the forest for anything that might be attracted to the magic. Nothing. Except for a mild gust of wind that rustled the leaves. The wind swirled around Valge, playing with her cloak and hair gently. She spoked incoherently and with emotions she fed to the wind. If that wind would find Laisren and he would listen, he would sense that the bearer of lightning and of silver hair sought him and when breathing in the wind, worries and unclear answers would fill his nostrils.

Laisren steps from behind a tree and slowly approaches the mysterious woman, Valge.

"Lady, I did hear whispers upon the wind", he states while looking across the river. The turning to face the woman he asks, "You have need of me?".

Kyree walked away from the meeting with the Mayor of Gullykin with mixed feelings. She had traveled there with the remarkable elf, the former Captain of Doron Amar, Laisren Ua Tiernan, to bear witness to vows made and courtesies extended. With him were members of the new-formed elven community, En Dharasha Everae, and the odd Druid female, Valge Kylm.

The meeting had seemed to go well, and the Mayor had agreed to tolerating the presence of an elven camp on the barren hilltop beyond his walls. Laisren had offered coin and the protection of the elves if danger came, in return for supplies needed for scouting to the North for a new home, and to outfit the eventual exodus of any elves that wished to leave their beleaguered community in the Sharp Teeth Woods.

Kyree had instinctively offered her aid to Laisren's endeavor when they first met and spoke of it. His reasoning seemed sound, and his commitment total. She trusted her instincts, and this time they told her that Laisren had a noble heart, and a concern for others that overrode his personal desires - save perhaps for that of his abiding love for Saline. Kyree knew full well that a soulmate was a blessing from the gods, and a gift that fueled every drawn breath.

Nevertheless, she had prior instructions. Her voyage to the mainland had been for the specific purpose of extending the hand of friendship to any Druid Circles or Groves she could locate, and to offer aid to any elven communities she found. In return she was to gather information regarding potential threats to her home. She would be in dereliction of her duties if she immediately became involved in political infighting between those of her kind, though it seemed to her that politics often had a way of forcing people's hands, and making them take a stance.

Her offer of aid to Laisren had been freely given, and not lightly made; and she would not withdraw that offer. A person is measured by their actions and the vows they honor. But still she must meet with the Council of Doron Amar and comply with her instructions to extend greetings and offer her aid. How the leaves would fall after that, she would have to wait and see.

Kyree stretched and dismissed it all from her mind.

There's no point in worrying about things out of my control. What will be, will be.

Pleased with the outcome of the Mayor ‘s meeting, Saline began to set her tent. Rolling out the bedding she is reminded of past training exercise she use to lead the Mathora in. She smiled to herself remembering the dysfunctional group coming together to under her leadership. “Yes if they should fare well” she thought.

Not thinking about the task at hand she did not realize she had set up bedding for two. Pausing, she looked at her work and began to laugh, “No not until we are wed.” she though. Slowly she began to change the layout so as not to give anyone any false impressions.

“Hmm, I wonder when it will take place. We were planning on having in it… No that time has passed, now we must secure our future…” With that thought, and a cup of tea, Saline took out a small black book and began to jot things down.

All those whom travel to the halfling village of Gullykin will now see the guidelines posted for the coming archery competition:
Summer Solstice

1.) The event will be open to all those who are friends of the people. All those whom see themselves as adversaries to the children of Corellon need not apply!

2.) The event will showcase the innate abilities of each competitor. This means the full use of arcane, martial and specialized equipment will be allowed and exhibited. This does not pertain to the use of wands, potions and scrolls which will be prohibited!

3.) Applicants will be divided into their respected levels of expertise. There will be two separate levels of competition: Expert and Champion.

4.) There will be three different competitions at each level.

A.) Accuracy
B.) Sight
C.) Obstacle Course

5.) Should any one competitor win 2-3 competitions, they will be named Grand Champion of their Class. Each Grand Champion will be awarded 25 thousand gold pieces and will have their choice from the listed Dharasha armory.

6.) Good luck to you all, and may you shine in the light of the Seladrine!
