Now....I dont mean to rant. Well yes i do.
I went to the Sea cave. Found a small arrow bag named "footsteps lead inside" figured someone was rping inside.(like Kel)
However i did not find anyone on the first floor and the 2nd was full of trolls. Some troll however Killed me by using Book of waves hitting me for 40s and summoning water elementals. Now if this is how its sposed to be then ill be more wary where i go even if its something i used to be able to kill without much thought.
However i took my 1k xp penalty and went back. thinking id get another crack at it. No more than 4mins later (used haste to run faster). I am back there the whole 2nd lvl empty no mobs no anything. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/26 ... 42845.jpg/

Now if the whole point was to kill me. *shrug*

Re: Complaint about event in sea cave.
If you are complaining that a DM killed you, well that doesn't seem to be the case. Players have the tools to rename items such as the arrow bag, and some do use this for RP as you described. Whether it was intended for you to find or not, I cannot say. But it's not something a DM is likely to do as we have better means to represent such things.
As for the troll using Book of Waves; many spawns can actually use the consumable items that spawn in their inventory as random loot. That's right, it was using your own potential loot against you!
Seems you just had a bit of bad luck, but it happens to all of us every once in a while.

This is not the first time I see that Troll having a Book of the Waves. It's not related to the DM. Might be a funky spawn. Though I heard of Goblin Soothsayer spawning with said book as well.

This seems to be a key sticking point, and yes.. I think if you are keeping IC you should always proceed with caution and 'be more wary' whenever you are entering a potentially dangerous location. Now if this is how its sposed to be then ill be more wary where i go even if its something i used to be able to kill without much thought.
Doing otherwise is darn near metagaming, isnt it?

It might have used a loot drop?
Or ye, maybe someone was setting up an event and crashed or something happened?
