Hello there, I would have a good question for you. In the rules, it's says that rolls aren't inforced here exept if DM request it. But today I was "bluffed" to follow a pc to suposedly raised his friend, but there was no one to help, he just used that to get me away from FAI. There was no bluff roll, so I believed him. Should i always initiate the sense motive roll then ? Or should he make some bluff rolls ?
Thank you

Re: Bluff and rolls
Hi Care.
As you said, "rolls" outside of DM events are not enforced. Which means that, when someone tells you something, it might either be a lie or a truth, and you don't have to believe it if you don't want to.
Rolls can be used to show the other PC your character's skills, but someone with +80 bluff by example can't make your character believe things she wouldn't believe. With rolls such as bluff and sense motive, there are modifiers involved depending on the lie, and this is one of the many reason why rolls are not enforced.

On the same hand, if after someone say something you initiate a Sense Motive roll, you cannot ask the other player to tell you either it is true or not depending on your roll.
So there's usually three ways it can be done.
1: You and the other player agree on the rolls to do in tells, then proceed to roll, and roleplay the results.
or
2: Rolls are used only to show the skill degree of the character (voice tone, persuasion), so the other player can decide if it has an impact on their own character.
or
3: No rolls, and your character act as you would want them to act. Same for the other player.
Hope it helps, feel free to ask if something isn't clear.
