En Dharasha Everae, Elven Archery Competition

A notice, written in elven, is posted on the boards of Baldur's Gate, FAI, and Beregost.

"To the people,

On the eve of the next full moon we the community of Dharasha Everae invite you to join us for an archery competition. We wish to sponsor this event as the solitice arrives, indicating the Triumph of Corellon over Grumish and the birth of our people.

All those whom wish to participate will be provided arms. Whomever should win this great contest will be adorned with gold and trophies. We would encourage all to participate, even if you join us simply for song and merriment. All those whom wish to participate might find us within Gullykin, south of the Sword Teeth.

Valge read the notice and thought little of the event until her eyes caught the words "adorned with gold and trophies". Her eyes shone brighter and there was no way she would pass on a chance such as this.

Hmmm she thought as she passed the sign. Perhaps... no, the last time I did, it did not fair well on those I love.

A well dressed blond elf approaches, leans on his unstrung bow to read the notice. With a shrug he scratches his name on the paper.

A tall, dark-haired, elf pauses by the message board. He casually scans the posts until Laisren's notice catches his eye. A wry smile crosses his face as he attaches a pendent pine resin seal to the notice before walking off into the night. The sigil pressed into the resin is that of House Rudel of Evereska.

Kyree sees the notice from Laisren Ua Tiernan and reads it quickly.

He is a busy soul this Laisren

She scans the list of names and comes last to the resin seal.

She frowns and compares it to those she studied before coming to the mainland.

Is this one of the older sigils? Is it one of the Lesser Houses, or one of the Great Houses?

It seems familiar but she cannot quite place it.

She places her hand on Daigers massive head and speaks to him.

"It is good to see that at least some here still honor their family names. But no personal name .. such a mystery."

She signs the poster with a quick, practiced hand.

The Celebration of Corellon

Elves can be seen training and organizing on the hill south of Gullykin. The twang of bowstrings and the humming of arrows through the air end in the rhythmic thumping of their finding targets. Tents are being set up and a throng of goods purchased within Gullykin. Word is traveling, the Archery event and the Celebration of the Summer Solitice is upon us.

//This Saturday, come hell, or high water. 9pm EST. Word on instructions and awards to be forthcoming. Hope to see all the friends of the people there

*Averëon approaches the board in Balder's Gate and takes notice of the tight elven script. She takes a long moment to read it over and a smile spreads across her delicate lips. She reaches into a satchel strapped across her waist then draws a quil and small vial of ink. She carefully writes her name in stylish form near the bottom. Replacing the quil and ink she then reachs to the bow tied to her back and grips the finely crafted weapon in her long, slinder fingers. She turns to the east gates with determination in her eyes that before the next full moon she will learn to weave her magic into her arrows*

All those whom travel to the halfling village of Gullykin will now see the guidelines posted for the coming archery competition:

Summer Solstice
Archery Competition

1.) The event will be open to all those who are friends of the people. All those whom see themselves as adversaries to the children of Corellon need not apply!

2.) The event will showcase the innate abilities of each competitor. This means the full use of arcane, martial and specialized equipment will be allowed and exhibited. This does not pertain to the use of wands, potions and scrolls which will be prohibited!

3.) Applicants will be divided into their respected levels of expertise. There will be two separate levels of competition: Expert and Champion.

4.) There will be three different competitions at each level.

A.) Accuracy
B.) Sight
C.) Obstacle Course

5.) Should any one competitor win 2-3 competitions, they will be named Grand Champion of their Class. Each Grand Champion will be awarded 25 thousand gold pieces and will have their choice from the listed Dharasha armory.

The Accuracy Competition

//OOC:

1.) Contestants will line up and fire three shots at a target from the same distance.

2.) There will be three distances: short, intermediate, and vast.

3.) Each distance will be given a corresponding THACO, or chance to hit (say 30 for short, 50 for long, and 65 for vast) these are yet to be determined.

4.) Only the highest value, or first attack from each shot will be recorded (so, if your first shot misses but your next two hit, you still get zero)

5.) A strike will give each player a numerical point value by distance (say 1 for short, 2 for long, and 3 for vast) which will be tallied. The player with the most points at the end will win the competition.

Note:
Each player will be expected to briefly emote before each shot ("he lines his sights, takes a deep breath and let's go the string"). This will be done for dramatic effect, more so for the tougher shots. Please, no one take ten minutes emoting on the short shots

We might do this using the game mechanics, or we might do it with single dice rolls, this is to be determined.

The Sight Competition

OOC:

This will be easy.

1.) A character will be blindfolded (sight obstructed, or moved from the map)

2.) Their targets will be spread through out the map surrounding them.

3.) When the blindfold is removed (enters the map), they will have 30 secs to locate and hit all of their targets.

4.) Whomever hits the most targets will win, and there will be a couple kinks thrown in to make sure this will not be easy.

Shur slinks through Beregost on a dreary stormy night. The Drow Druid from S'shamath holds his cloak tight, blending into the shadows as he walks close to the buildings. It is by chance he sees the note tagged no the board, having as it only caught his eye because the note's colorful and striking emblem depicting an archer's bow.

He rips the note from the board and can't help but grin underneath his red mask.

"I have bested many of the surfacer's best archers already in actual combat..." he mutters as he mulls over the note, "This may be an excellent chance to win some gold. I will stay clear of danger, return home, and stop with the murders until the competition begins."

He laughs as he crumbles the note in his gloved fist before tossing it to the ground. "I will win this competition, and the prize!"
