Today I patrolled through the Cloakwood to the House where the undead are restless. I made haste through the forest as to not engage any of it's denizens unless cornered. The exception of course is the evil shadow Druids. Once at the House I entered and swept through cleansing within.

After exiting the Cloakwood I headed north to Baldurs Gate to drop off my tithes to the Temple of Torm. I then headed north through the Fields of the Dead, through the Troll Claws and back down through Thundars Ride. I encountered nothing unusual, only the usual resistance by the evil monsters which inhabit the area.

The Order of the Silver Rose had its first formal meeting since the building of the Keep was completed. Several important issues were discussed, along with seeking as to what can be done to help out sir Seth possibly get his wife and child back from the abyss. Knight Warrant Gina Waynn noticed that Seth seemed to be doing well, considering his situation and was afraid that that Seth may be over-doing it with his fasting. Others in the order were concerned about this as well.

There was also the matter of deciding what to do about the offer of a Red Wizard from the Thayan Enclave who offered some of the overabundance of food, he said, from Thay itself to the poor and needy of the Baldur's Gate region. It was not a simple matter and most at the meeting were wary of the Red Wizards motives and such for this offer, which is not surprising, considering the reputation the Red Wizards have made for themselves. There was actually quite a lot of discussion about this matter and Gina did state her opinion but got a little lost as to exactly what decision was reached as to what the Silver Rose would do concerning this...

The meeting went on longer than Gina expected that it would. There was also a bit of arguing about this and that but it seemed that things were ironed out. But as the meeting wore on, Gina was getting a bit bored and tired and a little hungry and thirsty. She helped herself to one of the crispy apples in the bowl on the table, making a bit of noise biting into it, all the while trying to listen to what was said and looked around at the others being a bit embarrassed for any disturbance she may have made. She also had a couple of embarrassing moments eating an orange also. Uncharacteristic of her usual discretion from being tired, she bit into a couple of orange slices and they squirted out and onto sir Revenark the dwarf's cheek. She quickly pulled out a cloth handkerchief, apologizing and offered to help wipe the mess the mishap made on him. Sir Revenark graciously smiled a bit, seeming to overlook the accident and wiped himself off. Gina's face flushed red with embarrasment, but little accident didnt seem to disturb the meeting, although a couple of others did smile about it. And to add embarrasment upon embarrasment, Gina's orange also squirted out onto sir El'Aust's lap as well a few minutes later. Sir El'Aust graciously overlooked the mishap also as Gina apologized and help wipe off the mess she had made. Finally, the meeting was over!

After the meeting and some discussion with the others, she heard (and felt) a loud rumbling throughout the Keep! Gina and some others ran into the training room to discover, to thier relief, that it was just sir El'Aust training and using his powerful arcane spells against the dummies. Sir Revenark was up here also and said to everybody that there was going to be a brawl later on in the northern farmlands just outside Baldur's Gate at the arena there. Gina, being the big woman that she is and fiesty at times, thought, "Hey, I think I'll do pretty good at that!"

Gina went back to her room to rest for a while and get ready for the brawl. She hoped that she could enter it. It seemed like a nice way to vent one's self and have a bit of friendly competition with others. She made her way up to the farmlands where the arena was and saw the tents and the ale. LOTS of ale! And a lot of dwarves here too, which explained all the ale. The first event at the brawl was a drinking contest. Gina infrequently drank any liquor at all, and only some wine on occasion. She knew that kind of contest was not for her, though, knowing the Silver Roses's code of conduct. She also knew that in spite of her being big and tall that she really couldnt hold liquor very well anyway. Sir Seth was there at the brawl also, up on the top balcony.

Gina looked and saw the many dwarves in the contest, one of them being Matilda Stronehold. Being acquianted with her and with Matilda being the only female dwarf in the contest, she cheered for her. "Go, Matilda, go!" She was also a bit surprised but happy when she seen that Matilda out-drank her male kin and won the contest.

The brawling contest was next. Gina figured she'd do well at it. She seen that she could enter it and in accordance with the rules she unequipped herself of all her gear, down to just her armor underpadding. No weapons, no armor, no magic, no gear at all was allowed. Confident in herself and anxious for some friendly competition, she forgot just how tough the dwarves really were. At first, it seemed that the round for the lesser experienced contestants wasn't going to happen as there was only one man in the ring. Finally, someone else volunteered and stepped in the ring and the brawl was on. The first round consisted of mostly humans it seemed and Gina watched and waited for the intermediate round which she qualified for.

Finally the call was made for the intermediate contestants! Gina stepped into the ring with the other contestants, most of whom were dwarves, along with a couple of humans and, to her surprise, an elf. The referee said "FIGHT!" and the brawl was on! Gina had 2 others ganging up on her right off the start. Both of them dwarves. Gina swung at them, tried ducking and dodging, but it didnt help. She couldn't dodge all thier punches and soon went down. It seemed to happen so quick.....a few moments later, she came to and slowly got back up and walked out of the ring, surprised and astonished at how she could have lost so fast. She tended to a few bruises and a bloody nose with a few little healing spells.

Gina stood embarrassed and surprised. A couple of minutes later, she heard the announcer call for a re-match for the intermediate level contestants. She gritted her teeth in determination and walked back into the ring with the others. The referee said "FIGHT!" and brawl was on! Gina noticed the elf contestant next to her and started in on her. Someone else was punching the elf also and it wasnt long before the elf went down. Gina then quickly looked to see who else there was in the ring with her and saw Matilda Stonehold! She smiled quickly at Matilda and went at her. Another dwarf started punching Gina, along with Matilda who was being sneaky about it, getting in a couple of surprise hits in on her. Gina punched and dodged all she could, but went down quick with the 2 dwarves on her....

Gina came to again in a few minutes, regained her senses, slowly got back up and walked out of the ring. She looked back into the ring to see Matilda Stonehold holding her own against one other brawler. After a couple of minute, Matilda's opponent finally managed to put her down, but barely. Again Gina tended to her bruises and another bloody nose with her healing spells. But her healing spells couldn't heal her pride. She felt humiliated...and wondered if this is what she deserved from Selune, her goddess, for thinking she was so tough. She looked up and saw Seth up in the balcony. She unpacked her gear from her bag, put it all back on, and made her way up to the balcony and took a seat on a bench. She just sat and stared for a few minutes, saying nothing and felt a little embarrassed at first in front of her fellow Silver Rose member Seth. He took a seat next to her and gave her a playful little nudge and winked and smiled at her. She meekly smiled back at him and told him how she felt. He gave Gina a bit of encouragement which helped perk her back up. Sir Uriel of the Silver Rose soon walked up to them and he gave Gina his usual friendly greeting and bow. Together, Gina, sir Seth and sir Uriel watched the last few minutes of the match and Gina then bade them farewell and made her way back to the keep, feeling like that the brawl was all in good fun even though she didn't do as well as she thought she would. On her way back to the Keep she remembered a word of wisdom from her instructor in a temple of Selune years ago....pride comes before a fall.

Gina went upstairs into the keep to her room and took off all her gear again and consoled herself with a good long time in the hot tub. After getting out and drying herself off and putting her robe on for the night, she sat in her bed and looked out at the moon and reflected on the day and her time at the brawl. She prayed to Selune for a few minutes, then smiled a bit and she lay down to go to sleep, feeling a bit wiser....if not tougher, she thought to herself, and content, realizing that her real strength is from Selune and not in herself.

Cyrus sits in his room, meditating on his optoins. He has a choice to make that isn't really a choice at all. He gets up and walks over to his desk and pens a note to Lady Elvina.

"M'Lady,

I have been offered to join the Libary of CandleKeep by Sir Seth's friend Hoihe. At the time of his offer circumstances going on made me tell him I would think about it. Those circumstances have been resolved to my satisfaction, so I will be turning down the offer. However, that being said, I think this is a realationship that should be cultivated and pursued. The Library is a fount of learning and knowledge that could prove useful to the Order. Perhaps we could arrange a meeting with you, me, Hoihe and anyone else you think should be there, to talk about a possible liason or ambassidorship of some kind that would allow for mutual benefits. I await your thoughts on this matter.

This evening Lady Svala, Sir Cyrus and I patrolled the Forest of Sharp Teeth to Doron Amar and back. We didn't go past the bridge wtih the Evereskan Rangers as we didn't want to alarm any of the citizens that may still be there and not evacuacted yet. I am pleased to say we found nothing out of the ordinary on the patrol.

I will be posting other news on the board (osr forum) please be sure to review it daily.

"I did check the board, this morning after I got up. Perhaps I will suggest that we set a time by which notices need for knights to be held (hoo) able for the informaiton contained in them. If something is posted after I have left the keep in the morning how would I know about it" Cyrus muses to himself.


"More over, the builliten board is in the keep, squires don't even have access unless they are with a knight, so feasibly, it is their knights responisibility to tell them about it as they may not be back in the keep to read the note until late in the day....."

Talking to no one in peticular Cyrus continues to ponder this as we walks off...muttering to himself.....leading some to make odd comments about his mental state.

Brothers and Sisters of the Silver Rose, and to all my good friends that have offered their help to me with my situation.

My situation is graver than I had thought. I have learned that not only have my wife and child been abducted into the Abyss, but also the surviving villagers of my home island. I have decided that in two days time I will begin my decent into the bowels of this evil place called the Abyss. To free all those that had been kidnapped so many years ago, and still survive. Any who wish to join me please be advised, some, if not all of us, may not survive this ordeal. But as for myself, I would gladly trade my life for even one of these tortured souls who have suffered all these years without hope.

With this being said, for those who still wish to join me, I may be found outside our keep prayin to my God until this ordeal begins in two days time.
