Ulgoth's Beard

Unread post by IAmDeathComeForThee »

Well I took your advice Josh and had a look at that shading tutorial. Awsome tutorial! What a difference that bit of gray scale shading makes. Havent made much progress since the post in the other forums but ill try to do more work here...

here are some screens of the added shading and texturing. I still need to add more grass, rocks etc.

EDIT: I smoothed out that path so its not so jaggedy anymore. Would have been a little difficult to walk on realistically lol

hmm, i dont know if i like that to tell u the truth. I suppose i should try it and see, but i like the higher contrast in the original shown in this screen... http://nwvault.ign.com/fms/Image.php?id=137522
Ill have to see the diff IG tho and give it a try.

ah, i always thought the default lighting looked pale and sickly, like smoke... was glad to see something realistic pop up :?

Boy ive been busting my arse with this and putting a lot of hours in. Adding placeables and lighting and effects takes time. Im really liking how this is turning out, hope u guys will all like it... Im trying to get this wrapped up for BETA 9 before it gets released! :? Really workn hard here. Here's a few quick screens i took tonight, ill reveal more this weekend, however i dont want to reveal too much and leave most for surprise. There are a few really neat rp areas ive added and want to leave for surprise. How soon till beta release? I got a feeling it's getting awefully close...

here are some screens showing some ofthe lighting. All the lights are set to turn on at dusk and off in the mourning with the merchant lights coming on first. (seems more natural if they dont all go on at once.) Ive added lights to the windows close to the ground of buildings, a really neat effect i think it gives.

Note the two candle lanterns under the merchant canopy, looks really good IG. :) The ground texturing isn't done in that screenie tho and also the area behind has not yet been worked on. Also his/her caravan wagon is parked behind the tent while he/she is in town for the time being ;)

I agree, mate. Every feature seems lovingly placed. For what it's worth coming from my admittedly limited perspective, your Ulgoth's Beard is awesome!

Good luck! Let me know if you need any last minute help with writing or editing!

Thanks you guys, it really means a lot to hear some positive feedback after all that work and time. Ill be sending the area to jlf2n and he's going to look it over to see whether he deems it worthy of his great PW. I hope so, I love this PW and what he's done with it and would be honored to have contributed a small part to it.

Here is a screen of the merchant area done with trees and texturing. The poor merchant was killed by her own guard however lol :P She's going to have two highly armed and skilled guards who travel with her and are paid extremely well due to the value of her merchandise. Right now i just have to get them to stop attacking her lol

The Ulgoth Beard Inn

I used "Generic Inn" by Marcelo_Lopes as a template to create this inn so most of the lighting I give credit to him and placeables. His lighting is phenomenal!! I rearranged the shape of the interior to mach the exterior adding doors, windows lights etc where needed. Also added a fireplace to the main area. I did not like his fog effects tho, i thought they completely ruined the scene to be honest when actuall IG and his lights were wayyy too bright, but neway, here's how ive changed it.

Here is the link to the original... http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=NW ... tail&id=11

The last pic is the original, i really did not like that fog..

My version..
