What is that Shiny Thing Over There?

A group of adventurers were culling Giants south of Nashkel when they spotted something shiny on the ground. As they approached the ground gave way and they tumbled into a well concealed trap. They rose amid the debris to see they were in a large complex of caverns. A low deep voice greeted them from above with laughter. It said in broken common that the party would hunt their kin no more. The party looked up just as the sunlight was snuffed out with the giants' placing a huge boulder over the trap, sealing them in.

The party pressed on into the darkness. Hopefully these tunnels would lead them to the surface.

Dharasha: Finding a Home, Pt 2

Similar whispers and accusations are heard among the circles merchants frequent and within the seedy taverns filled with ruffians and brigands alike. They speak of shadows stalking them along the Northeastern Trade Road. Most of these stories are dismissed as paranoia, what with all the troubles that have plagued the trade route of late. Certainly the road is still riddled with banditry, but the increased Flaming Fist patrols bolstered by several knights of the realm have given sufficient confidence for caravans to brave the way. And the bandits reassure one another that so long as they stay clear of the Fist patrols, they have little else to fear upon the open road. "If heavy footsteps and the clinging of chain links catch'ya, ye' deserved t' be cott!!!"


Voices are lowered over card games and ale steins as those along the trade road find respite in the swill of the understocked taverns of the northern tradeway. "Elves, I tell ye! Always in the corner of ye' eyes. Can never git a clear look at one. Can never get a good read on'em."


Laughter and spilled ale dismisses these tales. "deal anotha' card ye' skallywag!. An quit ate'n dem wild mushrooms on da road.... HAR HA HA HA HA HA HA."


However, a pause befalls those who set out into the wilderness or the roads along the northern trade way. "Oi' tell ya. Thar be elves in dem woods. Who knows what dem sneaky feyfolk buggers want."

Isen the Vampire Hunter, Part 6

Several Elves met with Isen to discuss how to deal with the vampire lord who has now entrenched himself among the Human population of Baldur's Gate.

A grieving woman approaches the campfire late at night being consoled by her husband, who urges her to stay at the inn for the night and continue to Baldurs Gate in the morning. The couple is approached by a group of adventurers, who learn that she is going to meet her brother. The handful of altruistic adventurers offer to escort the couple down the tradeway through the night.

They arrive at BG and head to the temple of Ilmater. Where they learn that her brother was recently deceased. A Flaming fist officer is at the temple taking notes on a scroll and interviewing the clergy as to the condition of the deceased. The party learns that the deceased had recently started running with a bad crowd at the docks. His pale cold body was found in an ally in the district, and the priests detected undead corruption upon the corpse. The elderly priest of Ilmater reveals to the party that nearly a dozen such cases have been discovered by the Triad over the last two months. The body is ceremoniously cremated as night descends.

The party is seen following the officer, as the stealthier elements of the group eavesdrop in stealth and the rest follow at a distance. He reports to the Flaming Fist keep in the harbor district. His report is shot down by his superiors, who chastise him for following such leads offduty - adding that his investigation is not 'a priority.' Furthermore, the chastising officer hints that higher ups in the mercenary company are dissatisfied with any prying into the matter.

They party confronts the FF Officer as he leaves the keep. They are later seen entering a tavern. They order drinks and request a private booth. The curtains to the booth close as they discuss matters in private well into the night.

The Elves of Dharasha welcomed dwarves to their camp for a recent meeting. It may be that they are seeking to build ties with their new neighbors. Dwarf and elf have been seen together traversing the region, alongside a very large human with draconic features.

Special Delivery

The Knights of the Order of the Silver Rose (OSR) answered a call issued by Duke Eltan of the Flaming Fist to aid in Patrolling the North Eastern trade road. They were asked to assist in a special delivery.

As they passed through Thundar's ride, despite the heavily defensive presence of the Caravan, they were ambushed. The Bandits used unexpectedly effective tactics and had superior weapons. Once the knights rallied the caravan wagon had already been taken. They searched the area, it appeared that many of the bandits had fallen in the battle. They followed the wagon tracks reluctantly to find the caravan.

They found the wagon off-road stuck in a rut. Blood was in the passengers seat. Several of the crates were broken. The remaining bandits were apparently injured. They made off with the booze and what small weapons they could carry from the shipment, leaving the heavier wares. The sun was setting, and the party was not far from Triel. Fearing that they bandits would return in force if they made camp, they grabbed what they could haul on foot, and despite the strain and their injuries, carried what they could to Triel.

A clever hin hid many of the remaining supplies in a hollowed out tree trunk - these were recovered by Fist mercenaries the following morning.

The party continued to Triel, where they delivered the wares to a young bright but exhausted female Fist Officer who was managing the responsibilities of the vacant office of the Grainlord in the interim. The officer was clearly frustrated at the tasks, and freely admitted she was not qualified for the post. She also assuaged the knights concerns regarding the attack, noting that nearly a third of caravans are being attacked, and that the trade road was closed completely for most of the summer.

The Knights found respite in the inn of Triel that night. They nursed their wounds, and prepared to return to their duties the following morning.

Precious Cargo

A merchant approached the FAI campfire escorted by a Flaming Fist officer who was urging him to find what he needed among the adventurers gathered there. The merchant hired several adventurers to accompany a valuable goods shipment by sea from Baldur's Gate to Waterdeep. When asked the contents the merchant replied fine silks, linens, and spirits.

Once payment was agreed upon, the party set off for Baldur's Gate. The ship left port under cover of nightfall - the only one to do so. The captain greeted the party and told them to make themselves comfortable, stay out of the sailors' way, and - if necessary - hurl overboard. A bardess among the party entertained the salty seamen with song. It was initially a rather pleasant journey as the calm waves crashed softly in the night.

Suddenly, shouting from the crows nest. Ships spotted to port. The captain took out his spyglass and gaze into the night. A small ship on rapid approach - a boarding party - followed by 3 larger ships.

It wasn't long until the boarding party was upon them. The party fought them off, but not without injury. The other ships were on fast approach, and started launching flaming projectiles from catapults on board. The captain quickly ordered a change of course, directing the ship to port at Ulgoths beard.

The pursuing ships closed distance but not quickly enough to catch the fleeing vessel. They began bombarding the vessel and set it ablaze before it could reach port. The captain went below decks and came up with a single item, clutched within cloth. 'The artifact' Must be saved. The captain and the party boarded the dingy and made for shore.

The remaining ships bombarded the cove of Ulgoths beard with catapult fire. One of the ships docked and pirates began to flood out. The captain - with the artifact in tow - ran into the village as the party fought off the pirates. Finally the pirates pulled back their pursuit, cutting their losses and returning to sea. The party aided the villagers in putting out the fire. One of the party members washed up on shore - she had apparently been knocked overboard in the fray. The captain was nowhere to be found.

Horse Thief

A rancher and his dog were escorting a herd of horses south to Beregost. A party of adventurers accompanies him south to protect from goblins. While crossing the forest south of the lions way, the party is fallen upon by a giant Manticore. The creatures swoops out of the sky and attacks the party. The party fend the creature off, but it grabs one of the horses and flies off to the South East with its prize.

Pilgrimage

Several Knights of the Radiant Heart were seen heading south along the Trade road towards Amn.

In Beregost, they were seen speaking with a vagabond claiming to be Kalma Hellstorm of the Hellstorm crew. The vagabond seemed to elude their justice.

South of Beregost, they approached a rancher grazing his horses. Another party of adventurers approached. The group was attacked by a large manticore, who came hoping to find a meal among the horses. They fought the creature off, and it took to flight and fled to the East.

They were later seen in Nashkel in the temple of helm. Where they spoke to a knight of their order - the Athkalta chapter - who found a young faithful visiting tow who was brave enough to stand up to several bullies in defense of a smaller boy. The knight took the faithful to Athkalta, promising him he may serve as a squire for the order, or train as a paladin if his father permitted. The young Anomen was glad to leave with the Knight.

On the Charges of ....

A trial was held in the Temple of Tyr at Baldur's Gate recently. Two accused were brought in from cloakwood, charged with pactmaking and cavorting with Devilish Apparitions. Testimony was given by Juez Calvo, Merek Asher, and Boleslaus Branimir.

In the end, the accused were found not guilty of pactmaking due to the lack of preponderance of evidence, and guilty of Cavorting with Devilish Apparitions. They were sentenced to stay in the city dungeons, where they would undergo rituals of purification and repentance, and receive the Mark of Justice.

It is yet to be seen if this causes panic leading to witch-hunts in the future.

Traveling Carnival

Children came running as the wagons arrived in the Farmlands east of Baldur's Gate. The stalls were set-up by noon. Many came to enjoy the festivities and entertainment of the traveling festival.

Ask dusk descended may were already slowed and idled by food and drink. They watched an exotic fire-eater dance- touching flaming batons to her body, swallowing and spitting flame. They watched a lovely red-haired elven dancer, and a minstrel who swooned over her as she danced. The star of the show was a foreigner, a Calamsite snake-Charmer, who made a large poisonous viper dance and hiss at the crowd for dramatic effect. There were even some accusations that a pickpocket was making their way through the crowd.

As dusk descended, the Calamsite Snake charmer was seen hastily looking through some boxes and baskets in his stall. A scream let out from the crowd, the dancer felt something near her leg. A chicken cried out and fell dead in the middle of the festival - two fang marks later observed upon its thigh.

The adventurers in the fair took charge and confronted the snake charmer. The confused man only spoke Alzhedo... and communication was near futile. Finally, a ranger tracked the snake, to a nearby field, near where children were playing. The party tried several attempts to calm and catch the snake or communicate with the snake charmer. Everytime they neared, the serpent retreated nearer the children at play. The chicken was tossed to it, slowing it down as it fed. Finally, they were able to get the confused snake charmer, who was pleading in his foreign tongue for them not to harm the creature, to come and claim the snake. With his flute, he charmed the creature, and was able to stow it away before anyone was seriously harmed.

Ceremony of the Seldarine

Several days ago, chanting could be heard in the southern wood of sharp teeth as elves danced around an altar under the moonlight.

GURGLE GURGLE GURGLE GURGLE GURGLE!!!

An adventurer collecting bilberries on bilberry island observed a large group of Sahuagin marching through the island carrying a bound and apparently frightened nobly garbed adventurer. Upon returning to Ulgoths Beard, Deacon ran into a noble, pleading with the locals to help find his son, who had gone to the island chasing after adventure.

Deacon set off to form a rescue party. The party returned to the island and tracked the group to a temple. The boy was smart enough to leave personal affects behind as he was carried through the island. The Party entered the Sahuagin temple and interrupted a sacrifice to Sekolah - the evil god of Sharks.

The adventurers fought their way through the temple ruins and confronted the high priestess of the Sahuagin. They battled with an apparition of Sekolah, defeated the priestess, and saved the boy... who had already been rubbed with herbs and spices and basted in oil.

The party - bruised and battered and heavily tested by the ordeal - earned the thanks of the Boy's father.
