Hoihe chuckles as well.

"Lucid dreaming is actually common in humans, just not in a consistent form. Even if learning it, you can always just give in to your subconscious when you want. However, it will help you find out the meaning of visions."

He then leaves. Soon afterwards after working on some of his books.

"However... for giving in to your subconscious I wish to ensure you really did not encounter the dreaded black gem. You may be internally possessed, a rare phenomenon that I found out myself. It involves using Enchantment magic as a catalyst to plant a seed in the target's subconscious that will slowly take it over. Sleeping means you give in to your subconscious and let it reign over you, in this way you will be easily possessed. Lucid dreaming will make this form of possession harder to execute. But it'll still be possible.. like when you're knocked unconscious or get intoxicated. I'd advise heavily against intake of any alcoholic drinks."

Herran spends hours with Valqis after the candlekeeps meeting of the avowed talking. He tells her all he can remember of his visions and the event that seemed to lead up to them.

He adds one thing that up to now he had forgotten to tell others who have asked him. He tells her of a yellow diamond that had been left behind when he had originally disappeared in that ball of flames.

After their long talk, they decide to run a test tonight. They set up the infirmary with pillows on the floor, and turn off all the lights, leaving only a few candles burning. Then after burning some very sweet smelling incense, Herran lies amongst the pillows and tries to go to sleep.

Valqis waits and watches ... planning to try and wake him in the middle of his vision ...

Herran fears to tell Mila any of this for fear of her thinking he is losing his mind, so he asks Val and Abi to say nothing to her, knowing deep down that should she truly wish to sneak in, there would be no stopping her.

Herran sets upright with a start as Valqis nudges him awake "Mila!!"

He turns wide eyed to Valqis as he jumps to his feet .... "oh by the loving goddesses .... Mila is there ... in my visions ... i know she is ... i ... i almost saw her .... i saw her outline in the shadows of the candle light"

Then he turns to the door and out he goes not bothering to look back to see if Valqis follows him or not " I have got to find Mila ... i have to talk to her ... i have to tell her about all this ..."

Out the door and out of the keep he goes, no longer caring about Teo's worries or suggestions. He has one thing and one thing only on his mind, and a wide smile on his face.

Hoihe would try to get Reader Robert the resident pervert of Candlekeep to constantly monitor Herran Hymm. He tries to convince him using the fact that Herran has a pretty wife. He would ask Reader Robert to note down any odd behaviour. Also would ask him to occasionally cast Detect Thoughts across the Weave.

Mila would make her way to Candlekeep in an attempt to find him, worried about what has been occuring lately and not having seen him. A nervous smile to any she would meet on the way would betray the feeling of uncertainty she has.

Demetrius is going about his daily routine, when he notices a voice not his own is filling his mind. It is a report from Acolyte Calo'mel. He begins to write down the message to pass along.

Guide Ashby, or whomever this may concern.
Sir I believe we have ourselves a bit of a situation here in the Gate. I was on my way here to collect some Wyvern egg shells bits from Ragefast, as per the scribes request of an acoloyte, when we came upon a grieving family along the trade road. They were on their way to the Gate to mourn a recently deceased loved one. The circumstances of the death are what may be of interest to you, I'll list the clues below:

No visible sign of cause of death

The body is left unusually cold and pale

Clergy has made a note of a cloud of corruption tainting the body

The body is cremated before nightfall

Upon receiving information from an anonymous source, Lillith and I have learned that this is the most recent victim of a series of attacks, including up two dozen other victims all showing the same clues mentioned above. All of whom were young men, in the docks district, and all petty criminals. Furthermore the upper brass of the Flaming Fists seems to be brushing off these attacks as if they are not even occurring. I've talked to Hoihe about this and he told me of a group hunting a vampire in the Gate.

I've taken it upon myself to board a room in the Blades and Stars Inn and set up an agreement with Lady Alyth at the Elfsong tavern take pass along messages concerning this matter. I can be reached at either establishments.

Awaiting your response,

Calo'mel Glitterhands

Herran and Mila seem to be missing each other at every turn.

Herran declares to all he tells about his visions now though that Mila is in them. He does not see her directly, but feels it is her in his heart. He sees her silhouette in his vision as she removes the sheets from his bare legs and begins massaging his feet, then calves, then .... he wakes.

He seeks out Teo and tells him of the yellow diamond that was found back when he was first taken by the burst of flame outside the FAI. Letting him know that Kalytra is the one who found the gem and still carries it.

He then facepalms remembering Hoihe had asked about gems as well and leaves word for him as well.

////edited to include Hoihe ... uhm sorry for the omission

Hoihe Dacino unfortunately was missing from Candlekeep that day and missed the whole tale about the yellow diamond. However, since he is using Kaltyra as sage advice about gems he might as well find out when he tries to research the black gem phenomenon again.

A mage approaches the gate warden of Candlekeep, presents himself as Magnus, and hands him a folded parchment bearing the royal emblem of Cormyr. He asks that the parchment is delivered to the functioning Guide of the Keep at first oppertunity.

The parchment requests an audience with the Guide.

Several elves are seen dragging a large case up to the gates. Many of them look relieved to have reached their destination and jump up and sit the large wooden crate while one of them approaches the gate.

Vanya walks down to the vault with herran to lock away the Phylactery she took of the vampire she slew, for further study by the guides of candlekeep. It is unknown why the vampire was carrying a phylactery but vanya think it is not good. Much discussion was had about the vile item and many wanted to destroy it. Vanya would not allow this, but did agree to house it in the vault at candlekeep for further study to see if any information or use of the vile thing may be had.

Vanya then meets Uriel of silver rose and informs him of her find.

She then goes looking for the radiant heart to inform them hoping to get the living saint to take a gander at the vile thing and perhaps her wisdom may shed some light upon this vile thing.

Herran informs vanya that guide wendel may indeed desire highly to research this thing.

Vanya looks sad for a moment parting with it as she had not known her pretty gem was an object of evil and vileness. She gives one last look at her precious as it is locked away in the vault.

Herran has assured her however that it is still "hers".

With the stone no longer in her possession the heavy lifeless look in her eyes fades and she no longer has the urge to do strange things like eat weird things and fight everyone. Free of the evil stone she smiles more and laughs more.

Herran awakes from the latest of his visions with a light and happy heart and yet he still sighs and rises to his feet trying his best to avoid shedding the tears he feels in the corner of his eyes.

"By the loving goddesses my love ... i can feel you ... sense you .. smell you .. almost touch your face ... why do you still hide from me? why do you not simply join me in the cushions and kiss my lips. Oh how i long for your lips once again. What is going on that makes you so hard for me to find?"

With that said he looks for the nearest available water with which to pour over his head ... just to be sure he is now awake and not lost in the vision with which he is finding himself craving so badly.

Hoihe returns to Candlekeep with a wide grin on his mug. He carries his recently commissioned magical item, a magical bag with a pool of holy water within and various safety measures to stop psionics within leaking out. He takes the bag to Wendel's desk and takes out a golden diamond, the same one as Herran described. He then awaits him there, spending some time reading a few books in the lobby. He glances at the gem ever so often as if thinking it would suddenly materialise living shadows and attempt to kill it's current bearer. Hoihe avoids doing anything drastic with the gem until the Guide has seen it himself.

When Herran sees Mila walk into the infirmary his eyes light up .... but only for a moment, for he almost immediately turns away dropping his head to his hands as he sets on the bed. "Mila, my love ... the test is a lie ... my vision ... it is us ... there is no way ... oh goddess -please- be a lie" with that he goes silent, not looking up, hiding his face as if in shame.

Lillith has a delicious sandwich for lunch, having nothing to do with anything that is going on regarding haunted gems or naughty visions
