Rugnar Rocksmasher
I made me way to the coast of the sea of swords a 10 day ago and me dream of gettin me ol' dwarven bones in to see that grand library of Candlekeep is underway. Tis a beautiful fortress don't ye doubt and the Gatewarden is something to behold as well, a fine lady she is...for a human.

I also met a lad by the name of Valarius, a plane touched man of some magical ability be me guess. He seems the intelligent sort thats fer sure. He's pointed me in the right direction on me task at hand of gettin involved with the guard of the gate. It won't be a easy task but one i'm more then wellin to undertake.

Me old late friend Sionas wasn't fibbin when he spoke of this grand place and im not fer regrettin givin em me promise to seak it out. My dreams of returning to the lands of me Dwarven ancestors will have to be put on hold fer a few more winters i figure, there be work here, work a dwarf can be proud of.

Rugnar's Log
Second entry

I've been spending the last fortnight wandering the surroundin areas of Baldur's Gate. For such a civilized city the surroundin areas is a wild place indeed. The roads and outlying woods are overrun with all kinds of humanoids and beasts. There are few less now no doubt, since the arrival of Rugnar Rocksmasher.

I spent last eve up at Candle Keep and even had the pleasure of meeting the First reader Tethoril and even Ulraunt himself. I think the old man took a liking to me. I will prove my worth to them and make you proud Sionas my old friend.

Rugnar's Log
Third Entry

Twas a quiet day that ended in a grand tale to be sure. There we were, me and some like minded adventurers returning from a trip to the ruins near Bergost when we were attacked by some nasty ghasts. They were easily dispatched but thats when the tale gets interesting. We warned the guards at CandleKeep and then on our way up north, by Moradin's beard, we came across the most fabulous of beasts, a great bronze wyrm. The dragon aided us in tracking down the source of the undead infestation.

There in the ruins that are normally over run with Minotaurs we came across a portal to the abyss. After fighting off a horde of undead and demons the like i have only seen in me nightmares we encountered the true source of the evil. Travenex the Demi lich he called himself came forward and gave us a warning of impending doom to the sword coast. Though he did not engage us in battle at that time i came away with the feeling that it would not be the last time the good people of the area hear from the most wicked Demi lich. With Moradin ever present and me axe by my side I say let him come, we will be ready for him and his and we will prevail, good always prevails.

Rugnar's log

*sitting at the Elfsong tavern, drink in one hand and a tear gently rolling down his right cheek*

Twas a sad day, a sad day fer sure. While out gathering some Minotaur horns i came across an adventuring band that passed on to me the sad news of the passin of that beautiful bronze dragon that so helped us in our quest a tenday ago. They be a honest lot by my reconnin and i ain't fer disbelievin what they had to say. As the tale goes, they said he was layed low while fighting some stinkin bastid white dragons.

Not a sadder day have i known since ye passin Sionas my dear friend, I came here in search of Candlekeep and i've done ye proud in that regard. There be many things going on in these parts, things that can use me helping hand and sturdy axe. I'll be getting me revenge on them stinking flying frost lizards and setting things right. You are never far from my thoughts old friend, if not for your kindness all them years ago i wouldn't be in the position to be doing the good i be doing now.

*sitting in the well let corner near to where the beholder rests above the mantle in Elfsong, Rugnar gets to work unfolding parchments and writing in his log*

I find myself back, back to the land of sea air and rolling hills. It is both good and sad to return here to the sword coast for i have had an epic pilgrimage to the land of my forefathers. Included here is a map of the areas i have traveled on my quest to seek out the lands in which i was born some 260 years ago.

Image

I got a ride with a merchant trading ship up the coast to the little human town of Luskan whereby i payed a kings ransom to a group of shady twitchy types to take me by small raft up the river to the lands of my youth. I came to the mountain spires in search of dwarven strongholds and me kin but what i found was devastation and dispair. The area and keep known to me as Citadal Fellbar has long been lost to my kind. The entire area is over run with orc tribes that now call the old dwarven lands their own.

Some so called Many Arrow tribe or something be responsible for this madness. And even now as i find myself back here it doesn't set well with me. But alas, whats one dwarf to do against an army. Not much i recon, but a dwarf with an army of his own kind, now that can change the world.
