Background: His deep roots in Uthgar tradition date back several generations, many in his tribe counted back at least 7 generations of his lineage. Legend has it his ancestors witnessed Uthgar himself in battle though records have been lost only kept by traditional songs passed along by word of mouth from one generation to the next. Torin's people come from the Ghost Tree tribe, a little known Uthgardt tribe that worships great trees as totem spirits. They also hold Lady Alustriel Silverhand in high regards. His particular tribe was in search of a spirit tree to worship, as their own forests were already being searched for such a tree, it fell upon the chosen of Torin's family clan to search lands foreign to the Uthgardt, thus began Torin's quest to find a ghost tree in Baldurian lands. Torin in particular was chosen because as a boy he showed interest in shamanic rituals, his tribe in order to "protect" him from the tempting lure of learning magic chose him to search for the tree in a sense making him an outcast of his own people for admiring magic. Ironically, in his travels he learns more and more about worldly ways slowly leaving Uthgardt traditions, becoming more of an outcast. Before he left his tribal elder proclaimed he should not return until he knew of a great tree. Torin sailed from Luskan to these new lands in search of glory for his tribe, knowing his quest may ultimately lead him to inevitable failure, he carries on wandering the lands of Baldur's Gate.
Goals: To find a Grandfather tree for his Uthgardt tribe, also to grow ever stronger and learn new ways while representing the Uthgardt Tree Ghost tribe and retaining old ways.
Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts: His father was not a warrior by trade, but rather he comes from a family of frog herders, who essentially farm frogs for his tribe. Often smells of strange herbs, roots, and spices. It would be wise to assume that Torin was sent on a futile quest because the tribal chief's son had taken a liking to Torin's sister, Torin would not allow his sister to be traded for only 12 frogs and two bull toads. He insisted his father should go for 13 frogs and three bull toads supposing his sister was at worth at least something more, eventually the tribal chief's adviser thought sending Torin off would be much easier.
