Re: Rumours of Sshamath
After four cycles of the relentless drone of drums from the temple this very eve the drumming reach a crescendo before suddenly falling silent. A hateful otherworldly scream echoed through the cavern as the drumming ceased.

Re: Rumours of Sshamath
Sounds of fighting can be heard coming from the Darkwoods district, though they do not last long. The denizens of S'shamath witness a jaluk wearing a red bandana and cloak exit the district, he is recognized as the leader of the infamous and mysterious mercenary band named the Baleful Maw; he strides calmly and unharmed, though his eyes betray a bellowing rage. The jaluk stops once on his way toward central S'shamath to flick off the blood dripping from his gloves onto the ground. Several candle sticks later, a jaluk wearing an eye patch staggers from the Darkwoods district, barely able to walk as he holds his bruised and battered face in his hands. The Drow limps and stumbles, moving slowly toward Gloura's Tavern.
Not long after, the jaluk wearing a red cloak and bandana can be seen speaking to a masked jalil and a looming , powerfully built, hooded figure. After a short exchange of words, the behemoth bows respectfully to the Jaluk before the three of them go their separate ways.

Re: Rumours of Sshamath
Rumors spread of a large dire wolf wading through the river just West of Varalla's passage. Eventually, the wolf emerges from the water, slowly climbing up the slippery rocks, towing the body of a Darthiir in his maw. Before arriving ay Varalla's Passage, the wolf drags the bloated body across the cavern floors eventually shifting into the shape of a Drow. The Jaluk decapitates the body, leaving it to rot in the caves, before wrapping the head in a cloth.
Moments later, the same Drow, having scratch marks on his face, is seen carrying a pike as well as the decapitated head. The Jaluk walks with slow even steps from Gloura's tavern, toward the base of the Z'orr'bauth Stairway Spire. The Jaluk arrives and stops, deftly jamming the pike into the ground as it protrudes from the spire's entrance, displaying the impaled Darthiir's head to all whom enter or leave. A note, written as a warning, is attached to its head:
"A Darthiir's fate, for trespassing into S'shamath, is one worse than death!"

A cloaked figure is seen reading the message attached to the spiked head. Nodding slowly without a word, the shape disappears into a cloud of gray smoke, as a bat flies away from where the humanoid shape was standing, no doubt flying back to its master with the news.

Istran quirks as he approaches the surface elven head on a pike. After reading the message, he sighs and lightly shakes his head as he mutters to himself "Damned fools. . ." He then walks off, his black cloak flowing behind.

A figure of a large armoured Imaskari walks up to Sshamath billboard, sallet hiding his face, a large glaive supported on his shoulder. He stops and supports himself on a glaive, watches the board for a second, then attaches a small white tag with light-blue snowflake on it. Then he turns and confidently walks away.

Re: Rumours of Sshamath
An otherwise calm cycle was interrupted by a large crash and a screaming jalil voice from inside the Gloura's Wings. A minute later a bruised duergar with a soiled cloak falls out into the street. Nathaynedril, a female drow and new arrival in Sshamath stod in the doorway shrieking at the top of her lungs:
"Know your place before you drink here again!"

A warrant is posted for a miscreant beings head for assaulting goodnatured drow near the stone goblin warrens.
*A description of Gudhruun Hailagsig follows*
2500 plak'la is offered by the honorable citizen Yasae, payment upon delivery.
_______
A missive is also delivered to the magistrates complaining about the current general state of indecent behaviour among the lesser breeds. Decrying the danger it poses to the true citizenry. Penned by the same hand of course.

Re: Rumours of Sshamath
For the past several cycles rumors spread of a fierce battle, a cacophony of violence and destruction coming from the Illithid Mines, where a large scale battle of life and death ensues. According to anyone brave enough to get close, a moderately sized contingent of the Baleful Maw are accosted by a small army of Duergar thralls, accompanied by their Illithid Mindflayer overlords. Rumors spread about the ferocity of the battle, some saying it covered the entirety of the Illithid mines and how the cavernous tunnels were sticky with blood, guts, and gore.
The most terrifying accounts were of the army's general, a being with extraordinary psionic power, intelligence, and strength . . . How the Mercenaries were able to vanquish such a foe, is a mystery, but the rumors insist that they did so by a stroke of luck. They are seen bloodied and cleaved as they left the mines, licking their wounds with anger, confusion, and exhaustion in their eyes . . .

Re: Rumours of Sshamath
A short, male Drow can be found dead in the basilisk cavern. Small cuts cover his arms, chest and neck. His torso seems to have been partially eaten as well. His face is disfigured from scars, but on his right cheek a symbol of Lolth seems to have been carved, the carving itself irritated but free of infection. Nothing of value can be found on the corpse itself.

Re: Rumours of Sshamath
There is a buzz in the air in the Bazaar... rumor has it that a grand auction of both common and rare artifacts and weapons is underway.. certain individuals are approached.. namely Seventh Circle members and their allies, GreyFang, Zhentarium and Illithids...
More details than this are hard to come by... perhaps approaching one of the above factions could get you on the bidders list? That's the latest gossip...

Garbed in gray with a face concealed by cloth, a man enters the Glouras Wing tavern, asking around for any sell swords that would be interested in a remote, high risk, high reward job.

The man frowns as he is given a calling card, but no information on how to contact the owner on the card. To the patrons of the Glouras Wings, however, nothing is noticed with the frown concealed behind a gray cloth.

Re: Rumours of Sshamath
The 7th Circle spreads word that despite calls for his immediate execution the individual known as Shur is to be banished from S'shamath for life. Shur stood accused of slaying a Conclave emmisary. His mercenary organisation known as the Balefull Maw has been ordered to pay a very large sum in damages and is to appoint new leadership or be forcefully disbanded.
The grounds for this punishment are unknown, though rumor is that it was a majority decision opposed by the Temple's representatives on the Conclave. (note: the Temple of Lolth has 2 out of the 13 total seats on the city council)
Observing the Law of the City, part of the expropriated funds are to go to the house of the victim as compensation for the crime and as reward for duties loyally and dilligently performed. The remainder is to be deposited in the City's treasury.
