Black Orc Siege On Gullykin

Unread post by LISA100595 »

Masses of allies gather to defend the city of Gullykin from what scouts say the Black Orc are attacking Gullykin from the South with Siege Weapons... those that were there: Elvina, Seth, Uriel, Svala, Juez, Hoihe, Tan, Galadani, Luthien, Alyxis, Jaufre, Isabeal, Mando, Amarven, Laisren, Shyntvyas, Lomir, Aomir, Tommy, Durek, Laura, Thriomir, Cordel, Elmund, Brent and Eden and more poured in to offer their aid.

The Plan of Defence was to have a formation of Heavy Sword arms in the front, Elven Archers to Flank from the Side and Spell Casters behind the Heavy Swords. The Spellcasters would be the first to attack the ORC Front Lines.. that would be the signal for the Elves to Flank the ORC frontline from the Side... Then the Sword Arms in front to attack their Front Line of whatever was left. Everyone was to spread out in case of Projectiles from the Seige weapons they may have and No One was to engage the ORC in the Rear. The hopes of this Plan was to Attack the Front Line of their war party so Hard that the remaining ORC would retreat.

The Allies nervously await their attack....

Paws, half-naked and in an ale-induced coma, never even had a chance to defend his fellow "Little Giants" of Gullykin. He still lies face-down in a pile of damp leaves behind the Friendly Arms Inn using his shield as a blanket and a rock for a pillow. It was if the gods did not intend for the half-insane hin to attend this fine battle. ((curse you, Gods of the Server Plane)).

When he finally does hear of the great battle he missed, Paws will surely mope for several days, dragging his beloved halberd behind him like a child drags their favorite blanket.

After nothing happening for a long while, Hoihe has the idea of Meteor Swarming a cliffside to take out some orcs. The plan worked perfectly, severly wounding the entire army almost. They charged, trying to find the source of the spell and ran straight into a massive pool of grease where they slipped and became pincushion.

The battles lasted for a while until the last of the orcs fell. Since the ranger that arrived before the Assault on the orcs told them of the supply route being blockaded, the party tended to the wounded, which were very few, and set out.

Long battles ensued in the hillside as multiple scores of orcs assailed the party. Some fell but were revived thanks to Juez Calvo's scrolls. They advanced slowly but surely until they reached the barricade. A giant troll larger than the Friendly Arm's inn met them, slaying many of them almost. Mando and Hoihe used their draconic heritage to severely wound it as the others casted spells and clashed blades. It fell at last and the orcs ran away. There were many causalities but Juez's scroll once more saved their lives.

The group informed the caravan then returned to Gullykin for a long needed rest.

The food supplies of Gullykin were soon put to a test as Hoihe hogged down all the food in the tavern he could get his hands on. He cursed his luck that his spells make him hungry...

While the Gullykin Defenders were clearing the Black Orcs from the supply lines to Doron Amar the Local Hin tavern was raided by ... what appear to have been pirates. Descriptions of the many frightened and violated hin describe one of the pirates to have been non other than the infamous Captain Kalma Hellstorm.

Hoihe then would down his supplies from his expedition to the Shadow Plane, grumbling about the lack of food.

THANK YOU VOID, XZAR, DMOGORGON!!!!

Because of you guys, we had a great time and something to talk about for some time to come. Furthermore, the event was so mechanically smooth that it was hard to believe so many were partaking.

BRAVO!!!!

Hoihe delivers a message to Laisren: "The black orcs sent a kobold to Doron Amar about giving up the village. They have 3 days to reply. They have a plan of an ambush."

Laisren having received Hoihe's word thanks him and moves to coordinate with Commander Elvina of OSR. As word reaches them of yet another attack on Doron, new patrols are levied and guard duty has again become mandatory.

Finally, Laisren sends a scout to Doron with a letter for General Sywyn and another with his armor to be mended in Beregost in the hopes of having it ready in three days time.......

Despite the unavoidable irritation of some native Hins, each passing night Laisren can be seen walking the perimeter walls casting light spells to illuminate the night. In so doing he is hoping to thwart the advantage of Orcs prowess in the night.

A by now familiar Golden Eagle flies towards the triage area in Gullykin, looking from atop the skies for Laisren. As soon as the majestic bird finds him, it drops a small message in front of his tent.

"Laisren, the orcs have started to build a larger bridge of stone leading their side of the river to ours, very likely as to facilitate the passage of troops and heavy equipment. They have also set a big encampment with at least two siege engines aimed against Doron. At the moment we lack the forces required for a counterattack. Some help wouldn't be bad, provided Gullykin is safe. Awaiting the reply of your group on the matter.

A.A."

After Durin stumbles away, Laisren sees a bird of prey circling. He watches it carefully as it lands upon the wind mill's deck with a note. Laisren takes the not and reads it. When he looks back up, the bird is still sitting there patiently watching him. Laisren quills a reply in the affirmative, he swears he sees the bird look at the feather on the quill and give him a dirty look but after taking up the note it's talons, the magnificent creatures flies off.

Laisren first moves to locate his missing commander. He takes Ambassador Durin, Sister Amarven and the strange hin-dwarf Deacon to search for Mendel. Luckily, with Orlainn's wolf's scent, they were able to track Mendel down to the Northern Lights Inn. There they found Mendel stone drunk speaking with the Mistress Shyn.

Shyn explained she found the Villi this way and despite her pleading, he stayed to remain drunk, Laisren confronted the ashamed Commander. Mendel swore he did not know how he had arrived at this establishment but after missing posts for three days, Laisren reminded him of his duty and with the help of Durin dragged him out of the infamous establishment.

After promising Durin a free tab in Gullykin for helping get Mendel back, Laisren is now 10,000 gold poorer but once the Villi has sobered, Dharasha will be prepared.......

After returning to Gullykin, Lais was detained by political matters. Mendel, Shyn, Durin and Deacon decided to act on reports that the Black Orcs had been undertaking forays across the bridge and close to the outskirts of gullykin. Deacon cast powerful magics on the group and they moved out into the forest. It was not long before they encountered a small number of black orcs bearing clubs and axes. Arrows, magic, and Durin's axe made short work of the sentries and the four pushed ahead into the main camp where they met with heavier resistance. Two towering black orcs clad in dark well-crafted armor charged Mendel and Durin while Shyn and Deacon rained arrows and magic on them. Focusing on the nearest one, Durin used his axe to sweep the Orc's feet in the wet grass while Mendel worked his twin blades furiously, finding the seams in the beast's armor. A mighty overhead chop finished the beast just in time for Durin to turn and meet the other.

A bolt whistled overhead and lodged itsself in a nearby tree. Seeing a Black Orc sniper in a nearby stone outcropping, Mendel all but vanished in the underbrush and moved to attack. Durin turned looking for advesaries and found two of the largest orcs he had ever seen charging toward him. They were as large as small ogres and thier eyes were wide with mad rage. Deacon, in the midst of spellcasting did not notice the brutes. Durin howled and charged, but too late. The beasts lunged and bore the sprightly wizard to the ground with three quick chops. Enraged, Durin charged and hacked and slashed. The three traded mighty blows and soon blood was flowing freely. Shyn peppered the enraged orcs with arrows but the beasts continued their methodical attack on the dwarf, working around in circles. They were eventually able to break through Durin's defense and one scored a hit on the back of the dwarf's head, dropping him to the ground.

Seeing their companions down, Mendel and Shyn redoubled their efforts, wounding the pair of mad orcs enough to cause them to retreat. Mendel took the opportunity to scoop up Deacon under one arm and drag the unconscious dwarf with the other. Shyn continued the hailstorm of arrows to cover the retreat and the group soon found themselves at the edge of the black orc's territory.

Mendel opened his pack, drawing forth a number of powerful magical items. He spoke command words, barely more than a whisper, and they flared to life, engulfing his fallen companions in a shifting nimbus of blue, green, and violet light. Durin stirred first, his many wounds mending far faster than any natural wound could. Deacon was next. His small head jerked up and his beady eyes darted to and fro.

"What happened, was Deacon hurt?" His small sprightly voice brought a smile to the lips of Mendel and Shyn.

After several hours of rest, Mendel stood. "Let us try again, shall we? This time, we draw them out. They wil come to us and death will meet them."

Durin smashed his metal gauntlets together. "Aye! Bashin!"

The four made their way along the familiar path and the rope bridge to the orc encampment was soon visible, as were several guards. Mendel and Shyn soon brought them down with a quck volley. Their death squeals sent up an alarm that brought a massive, well armored orc bearing an immense axe across the bridge. Arrows flew home in the seams of his armor, yet onward he came. As he drew near, Durin rushed to meet him looking as though he would charge directly into the brute. At the last minute, Durin spun to the side and swung his heavy shield in a sweeping motion to gain momentum. He then brought his axe in a sweep behind the orcs knees, using his own speed to drive him heavily to the ground. Mendel and the dwarf were atop the brute before he could recover and the orc never arose again.

Mendel smiled faintly. "Well, that went better, didn't it."

Shyn grinned to herself and Durin chuckled and the group moved on through the forest, taking small groups of Black Orcs as they went.
