I apologize if this might be a bit too long.
First Name: Ceneraii
Last Name: Bloodrayne
Appearance:
Ceneraii is fairly light-skinned for a drow half-elf, well built with long unkept blueish-white hair and a piercing look. With a good physique albeit averadge looking. Having a strong preference for dark clothing and light blades, his fashion-sense favors the practical more than the aesthetic. He has a bit of a wild look to him, a result from his secluded upbringing.
Race: Half-Drow
Age: 22
Height 172 cm
Weight: 68 kg
Eyes: Red/Crimson
Hair: Blueish white, very long and unkept.
Facial Hair Style: None
Personality Profile:
Ceneraii is quite collected, although his instincts are strong he has learned to take his time before making rash decisions, so long as his emotions do not flare. He is prone to losing himself in battle because of this. He assumes most are distrustful of him because of his heritage and as thus prefers to keep his distance from others. Often very stubborn and a touch arrogant, he believes himself more capable than most, resulting in self-doubt when he is outdone. His secluded life has left him with somewhat poor social skills.
General Health: Frequent training and the harsh conditions of island life have left him with good health, although his parents sudden death may speak to the contrary. Mentally he is somewhat strong even though the things he derives his confidence from are relevant to his performance and as such subject to disillusionment. His somewhat lonely life also has left him somewhat emotionally disconnected. He is however plagued by recurring dreams of a spellblazed warrior in black-red armor standing lone in the bloody aftermath of a battlefield.
Deity: Valkyr, again in reference to his island upbringing.
Initial Alignment: Chaotic good, taught right from wrong by his parents albeit unfamilliar with laws and social structure.
Profession: An adventurer setting out to find meaning in his recurring dreams.
Base Class & Proposed Development: A wizard, aiming to become both a strong fighter and spellcaster, with an interest in learning the ways of an eldritch knight, as it seems like the natural next step for him after honing his skills.
Habits/Hobbies: He often practices his swordplay and spellcasting abilities, with an interest in the less-than-possible sides of both. He has a habit of reading into things too much and trying to find hidden meaning, sometimes when there is none. He is also enthusiastic about symbolism, always carrying a vial of sea-water with him to keep him close to his god.
Languages: Common, drow, arcane.
Weapon of Choice: The rapier, a light weapon well-suited to his build and fighting style, as well as favored by his god, he saw it as the natural choice.
Background:
His parents met in the Underdark, his mother a drow spellcastress and his father a human soldier. She freed him from a spell-maze (where he got trapped during an old incursion following a particularly bloody battle, although his memory is fogged of the exact sequence of events) accidentally while exploring a newly discovered cavern ahead of her group, and decided to question him in hopes of gaining more information. However, the rest of her party saw them and considered it a good excuse to slay her, bearing a grudge against her somewhat prodigial ability and higher standing. The two barely made their escape to the surface and seeing as he owed her for his freedom, he took it upon himself to find her a place.
This turned out nearly impossible after several years and the two, weary of wandering and constant troubles following them, decided to retire to a secluded island off the sword coast. Here Ceneraii was born. Taught in both martial skills and spellcasting as he would have to rely mostly on himself, allies being scarce for one such as him, he proved a quick master of both. His parents also explained his difficult place in the world, being not only a halfbreed but a drow one as well. They survived on that same island for 21 years, living off the sea, a harsh but rewarding life.
Recently his parents both became sick with only a day inbetween the signs of sickness and their death. Distraught by this he continued living there for a year in a somewhat depressed state.
Eventually his interest in the mysterious and arcane combined with his recurring dreams of a spellblazed warrior in red-black armor standing alone amidst the remnants of a particularly bloody battlefield got the better of him and he decided to set out for the mainland, beginning his journey in the Underdark to find the cavern where his parents met, knowing of few other places and feeling that going back to the place where it all began might offer some new insights, as well as perhaps claiming his place among the Drow clans, seeing as his mother was prominent among them.
As he made his way, he ended up quickly hastening his pace towards the Underdark because of the way surfacers shunned him, somewhat darkening his opinion towards them and making it harder to stand by his morals. Lately it even crosses his mind to take revenge for the treachery performed against his mother. A point of view that seems to sit well with the Drow, from what he has observed. Perhaps he is more at home there than he thinks...
Goals: To find out the meaning of his recurring dreams and a place for himself in the world, and perhaps a clue as to what killed his parents, fearing his fate might be the same considering the sudden nature of their deaths.
Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
Well I tried to leave in some material to work with in regards to the events that transpired in his life, without creating an actual plot story myself. I think the following things are sources you great folks might draw some inspiration from;
His fathers memory is blurry and he was magically trapped in a strangely unknown cavern not to deep in the Underdark during a bloody battle and almost immediatly after it is rediscovered battle and treachery ensue.
His parents never managed to settle down in the 'civilised' world, despite quite a few others doing so succesfully.
His parents both suddenly died when he came of age.
For someone living a fairly secluded life an interest in symbolism is rather strange, considering he is not exposed to many symbols and such.
His recurring dreams (I'm guessing this would involve some major plot point) reflect his fathers circumstance of imprisonment somewhat. But are also in contrast to his own insecurities (after all the lone survivor of a battle would have to be pretty invincible, and his anxieties mostly relate to being outdone by others)
He frequently loses himself in battle, becoming somewhat frenzied, although one might say this relates to his somewhat 'wild' upbringing, it is still strange for someone who is usually quite calm and methodical.
He is conflicted in many ways (Has a strong sense of good and evil, yet is distrustful of most other people, well taught and talented yet insecure about his abilities, calm and collected yet instinctual, lived what one would call a simple life yet very interested in the highly complex, etc)
Edit: As I didn't realize before that I would start in the Underdark I added a bit to explain his presence there, as well as some possible moral ambiguity regarding his short experience on the non-island surface, which combined with his already poor social skills, his contact with the rather cruel Drow and blunted emotions might also be an angle to work from.
I hope you can work with this, I tried to create an interesting character with both strengths and flaws and good roleplay-ability without being too generic and to leave plenty of wiggle room.
Thanks for reading!
