Rumor has it that a General of the Flaming Fist has escaped the clutches of the Orc invadors deep within the Sharpteeth Woods. His regiment of soldiers lost. it is said a band of elves and mercenaries rescued the general from certain doom and headed south towards the fabled reufge of the elves.
Next! A Brilliant beacon of light flashes in the night sky over the woods, brightening the entire landscape from the darkness for only mere seconds!.
Soon after, fires erupt in the woodlands south near the refuge home of the elves. Red Eyes glow menacingly in the darkness as siege weapons rip through the ouskirts of the elven encampments.
The war has begun....

Re: DM Rumours of the Sword Coast
There was a disturbance at the Friendly Arm Inn (FAI). The inn Guards were up in arms believing the grounds were being attacked by Manshoon - founder and Leader of the Zhentarim Black network.
Several merchants have begun packing their stalls. Rumors venturing so far as to accuse that the FAI is a Zhentarim Stronghold.
The inn owner, Bently Mirrorshade, has been going to great lengths to dismiss these rumors as ridiculous and unfounded, and the debacle of the Keep getting up-in-arms was merely a misunderstanding over some malicious prank.
Several discounts are given to travelers and caravans over the following days.

The Flaming Fist mourn the loss of one of there own, as a Champion was killed in duty protecting the Friendly Arm in a battle against Abberations, the Friendly Bruiser avenged his death and was last seen walking away in tears.

Re: DM Rumours of the Sword Coast
Rumors say that despite the heavy resistance and mysterious sabotage attempts, the fortress of Darkhold fell back into Zhentarim hands after a short siege concluded by an elite strike force. Circumstances as mysterious as the allies the Black Network could count on, but whatever happened, the new-found grip on the sinister stronghold provides them with a vantage spot from which they can dominate the access to the North passes...Only time can tell how they will use this edge, or what it means for the good people of the Coast.
Somebody told me I should do what they told me...
But there's a hole in that plan, and I'm tearing it down...

Rumors spread of a wealthy woman who recently lost a very valuable family heirloom. A large canary diamond that is was last seen near the Friendly Arms Inn. This noble is offering 10,000 coin for its return. The gem will radiate a feint aura of magic and will be easily identifiable by the owner. No reward for similiar gems. No questions asked. The contact will be another woman named Isellishtra who frequents FAI.

Re: DM Rumours of the Sword Coast
Rumor has it that the captain of the Fist Guard and leader of Norton's Basterds, Captain James Norton has resigned his post and has choose a self demotion from Captain of the Fist legion positioned in the shires of Gullykin to contain the Black Orc menace.
The rumor around the gate fortells that the Captain made his decision in light of death of a very important ally he was responsible in safe-guarding. The surprise presence of General Scar has bolstered the troops that have made the Friendly Arm Inn and Gullykin their temporary base of operations. This also confirms the rumors of the Northern Outpost being taken in an act of war by the orcs, as General Scar's regiment have been unaccounted for for many weeks during the seige of Sharpteeth woods by the inhuman mongrels.
Corporal James Norton will now fight along side the men and women of the sixth regiment who is said to be the first wave should a sweep of the woods be commenced. Casualties from this regiment are estimated to be high as they will face the brunt of Orcish Shock troopers.

Excited rumors fly swiftly around BG that a vampire hunter named Hoihe had spotted an undead blood fiend in the White Mask Theatre! Several citizens report seeing the vampire flee in bat form as people, and a Fist patrolmen, forced their way in to investigate the chaos ensuing. It appears Herran may have been bitten as he was Bleeding from his head.
Citizens are worried for their safety, especially now that Captain Norton has stepped down from his station.

Re: DM Rumours of the Sword Coast
A large grey bi-pedal beast was spotted on the southern edge of the bridge on the trade way south. It is said to have attacked some adventurers and Flaming Fist mercenaries, throwing one of the latter off the bridge into the river below. Fortunately, none of the adventurers or authorities involved appear to have been seriously hurt.
A short distance down the road a few bandit corpses lay just off the road. They appear to have been severely bludgeoned to death.

The flaming fist are up in arms. A merchant was killed in open view during an impromptu open night at the White Mask Theater. Spectators describe him being hit in the eye by a trick knife thrower. As the knife thrower disappeared after the event, the authorities suspect murder most foul. The nobles of the district are shocked at such a brazen display. The Flaming Fist are furious at being made to look as fools.
The fist give out a non-descript description of a human male, clean shaven, wearing a white cloak and hood with brown leather armor. They also describe him a very dextrous - "a skilled juggler." An offer of 10,000 gold is posted for any information resulting in an arrest.

Re: DM Rumours of the Sword Coast
An old man was murdered on the second story of the Bearded Mermaid this evening, in Ulgoth's Beard. According to the talk of the town, his throat was cleanly cut.
Reports are confused, but the old man was apparently attempting to break into somebody's room when he was killed. The murderer is believed to be at large.

Re: DM Rumours of the Sword Coast
It is autumn in the Baldur's Gate region of the Sword Coast. Winter is on the horizon.
It is recognized that a combined force of Elves, Dwarves, Hins and Humans—many of the adventurer class—in league with the Flaming Fist, quashed the Black Orc Horde menace that raged from out the Wood of the Sharpteeth. Yet, the more strategically minded ponder the larger picture behind the Horde, how it came empowered so as to threaten the complete destruction of Doron Amar, as well as lands under protection from the Dukes themselves. There is more to be learned, say the wise men and women, about what was truly won...or lost...on both sides of this barely past season of war. Many fear a great evil has arisen again in the neighboring lands, close enough to continue to the threaten the safety of all the live in or near Baldur's Gate.
Still...the Elves of Doron Amar begin to rebuild. The hamlet of Gullykin returns to it's quaint peacefulness. Adventurers of all types fill the inns and taverns with merriment, drinking and eating to their hearts delight, telling and retelling their great achievements upon the battlefield...and, in quieter moments, morning and offering praise to the Gods, for the ones that have fallen in this time. Some say it is now a time for hibernation...while the more skeptical say the real war has only just begun...
But all is not merriment and joy. A great economic loss has hit the region, brought on by the earlier months which saw drought, a near stop of trade...and now, the damage brought on by the Black Orcs and those that ultimately were behind them. With winter on the doorstep, the region limps along, struggling to maintain stability, as do many economies and people after great battles have been waged.
The Dukes employ the Flaming Fist, the construction Guilds, and the common folk to repairing and rebuilding after the Black Orc aggression upon the Tradeway—many settlements of peasants having been pillaged, and even establishments such as the Friendly Arm Inn battle damaged. The Sword Coast's adventurer population is once again to by thanked for keeping the damage and harm suffered to what it was. But the Flaming Fist—having suffered casualties of it's mercenary brothers—and the common folk bore a large brunt of the Black Orc fury, and that experience left deep wounds, psychic wounds. Many Fist that are present in the lands rebuilding begin to lash out with their anger and loss, taunting and verbally abusing any that show signs of the heritage of Orc, and especially those that are full blooded. Travel in and out of Balder's Gate becomes oppressive for the Half-Orcs and Gray Orcs that call the region home, and reports have reached the Lieutenants of the Dukes that merchants within the Gates have begun tossing rotten fruits and vegetables in anger at any that bear the mark of Orc; some merchants even refusing outright to trade with them, closing shutters and doors as they approach. Even though the Baldur's Gate common folk fall on the winner's side, tolerance seems to be slowly losing....
Rumor also continues to flourish from Soldier and Woodsman alike that rogue bands of the Black Orc are still present within the northern portion of the Wood of the Sharpteeth, weakened, but still blood-thirsty and dangerous. A few Flaming Fist Emissaries have appeared once or twice within the Friendly Arm Inn, to entice the adventurer class into hunting down and putting a final end to the Black Orc menace. What is often reported back by these brave and stalwart few is that many trails of surviving Black Orc seem to lead north out of the Wood...but after reaching the Chionthar river, they vanish to unknown directions...

The farmers are up in arms. A man was found laying face down in a cornfield near the graveyard this morning. He was pale white, and rumors abound that his body was completely drained of blood.
