Background: Ebennos spent most of his early life in a relatively large temple complex in rural Amn. Born of two travelling adventurers from Lurien he was left in the temple's care when his parents left on one mission or another - and stayed there, as his parents never returned.
The complex itself stood as the centre of a large halfling community. It housed both shrines to all of Yondalla's Children and a tiny chapter of Order of the Hin Fist, but most importantly a large temple, and associative catacombs, of Urogalan. It served not only as a restingplace for the halflings of the region but also for travelling halflings who've died abroad, as well as a place where their history and genealogy was written down.
Ebennos grew up amongst it's sombre clergy, sharing their duties of caring for the graves and catacombs and receiving a good foundational education. Despite his teacher's encouragement he lacked the focus and mind to truly follow the path of the clerics or the monks, but as he grew it became clear he had talent for another line of work - the young Hin seemed incorrigible when it came to sneaking, spying on his fellows, and general mischief. Realising his potential, he was instead mentored in the arts of stealth and espionage. He was taught how to track and survive in the wilderness; how to move unseen and unheard both in nature and in towns; how to gather information from people - and at a time when the landscape was beset by a tribe of goblins, to understand their language; and the importance of manipulating people's impression of him. As such, he came to grow up under contradictory messages, one putting focus on discipline, order and subservience, while at the same time being rewarded for indulging in the sides of himself that undermined those very values.
During Ebennos' adolescence the monastery also had the great honour of fostering another young Hin, Cyrreearva, a girl who shared an intuitive bond with Arvoreen. Brave, adventurous, and a warrior to her core, Cyrreearva never found the temple or it's rural surroundings to be enough for her. The clergy, taking great pride in the presence of someone so close to the gods, encouraged her to stay, but the young Hin would have none of it - being a very charismatic person, she had already convinced a small group of would-be adventurers to follow her, and as soon as she grew of age Cyrreearva and her companions left to find excitement, glory, and fame.
After only a short time, news of her doings, whether from Cyrreearva herself or travelers, stopped reaching the temple. The clergy waited patiently for new rumours or messages, but for a year, none arrived. Worried that they had lost their most blessed member, the priests sent out a handful of members to seek her out and bring her back, or if nothing else her bones, so that she may be rightfully interred in the earth where she belonged.
Ebennos was among those seekers, and the journey him through Esmeltaran and Crimmor, eventually leading him to Athkatla. Though it was the first time he travelled very far from his home region, he found that he enjoyed the life on the road - he could take care of himself, and it gave him ample of opportunities to practice his skills, and to learn much about the world, people, and himself on the way. In Athkatla, however, it seemed like Cyrreearvi's little group had travelled from there to the Sword Coast. Ebennos followed, but upon reaching Baldur's Gate, their trail disappeared.
Ebennos has since become involved in the struggles of this land, and especially Gullykin, though he has not given up the search yet. It is, at most, put on hold until a new lead surfaces.
Goals: Finding Cyrreearvi, or anyone of her party, and bring news of their fate back home.
Travelling, and seeing more of the Coast, and eventually the world.
Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts: Anything to do with Cyrreearvi's fate, as well as his home.
Ebennos also has a particular weak spot for helping other Hin in need, believing in solidarity among Yondalla's people.
