DM Novus' Adventures!

Starring:
Player Characters
(that means you!)
Do you remember this text: "An Adventure for 3–5 Characters Level 4–8?" These words were often the lines just below the title on some of the most entertaining of roleplaying modules, and for good reason: to fail or succeed in these great tales, there were fair relationships to the challenge, and to the player characters that bravely ventured forth.

My goal is to support your player ideas, and guide your adventurers through module-type play using the old school D&D modules as guidelines. That means more specific style adventures and quests that relate to smaller groups, with a more personal touch from the DM side. It's just as valuable to me to get to know your PCs, as it is for you to get to know me as a DM.

Bring your best role-play, stay in character as much as possible, ask questions, be brave, think outside the box, and bring your skills as a player and your skills that you've invested in your toon...and let's embark upon the Search for the Unknown...

The Lost Flaming Fist

An Emissary from the Flaming Fist arrives in the Friendly Arm Inn. While hesitant to speak too loudly, he does place word amongst the courtyard that the Fist are seeking able bodied adventurers for a special mission.

A number of Flaming Fist soldiers were lost behind enemy lines during the Black Orc attack, and their rescue is of utmost importance. The Flaming Fist—occupied with security and repairs along the Tradeway, do hire out to the adventures willing to risk life and limb for a bit of coin...and maybe the recognition by the Fist for kind behavior.

Many do offer assistance, and a large, regional search does commence. More than half of the lost soldiers are rescued alive from the clutches of rogue Black Orc, but some do not make it. The Flaming Fist Emissary keeps his word, and offers his thanks, to those that fulfilled the mission.

Participants:
10–20 PCs

Rewards:
XP
Gold coin

"Bring Me Ten Scalps!"

Rumor also continues to flourish from Soldier and Woodsman alike that rogue bands of the Black Orc are still present within the northern portion of the Wood of the Sharpteeth, weakened, but still blood-thirsty and dangerous. A few Flaming Fist Emissaries have appeared once or twice within the Friendly Arm Inn, to entice the adventurer class into hunting down and putting a final end to the Black Orc menace. What is often reported back by these brave and stalwart few is that many trails of surviving Black Orc seem to lead north out of the Wood...but after reaching the Chionthar river, they vanish to unknown directions...

Participants:
Almost 30 PCs

Rewards:
Information
XP
Coin

Some lessons of strategy were hopefully learned by the fallen...thank fully risen by their adventurer companions. A piece of the unfolding puzzle was presented...

Gorber the Goblin & the Human Contagion Phylactery
The Elder Circle continued their search for Black Orc movement in the Wood of the Sharpteeth. Their search led them to the most northern edge of the forest, where they located a recently abandoned Black Orc camp.

There, they found and "rescued" a strange pair: one goblin calling himself Gorber, and one dazed and non-communicative Flaming Fist guardsman. They were both bound and gagged at the camp, but freed as soon as discovered.

The goblin was put to questions by the Elder Circle, but during the interaction, the guardsman fell beyond simply being ill, and while clues did reach certain Elder Circle members, they did not react in time before the guardsman collapsed and...exploded...releasing a foul contagion upon the assembled.

The Elder Circle did gather many clues, and a bit of information from the goblin named Gorber, however, many things were left unresolved...unless the Elder Circle is able to put the pieces together...

Participants:

Yes...I know these rings are not as the Bard's rings truly were in-game, but what eves....

The Flute of Many (Races)...and the Rings of Eight
The Whistling Wanderess Crew, encountered one and a half year's worth [in Real Life] of adventures acquiring the Flute and the famed Rings of Eight. Each Ring was a challenge of its own, and each Ring acquired brought them closer to their goal, which was to wield the Flute just as Elroer the Great Bard had done so many centuries before.

But each Ring acquired brought more danger, more unknowns, more mystery, sometimes more suffering than success...and in such a long campaign, the Crew gained scars, both physical and mental, scars that would remind them for the rest of their lives, of each hard earned success...and each unresolved moment or failure.

Alas, it would be the future for each Wanderess Crew member, to either remember or forget, that which they had experienced...and some, would say, endured.

In this one and a half year campaign, the Whistling Wanderess Crew found themselves, upon other Planes, amongst dragons and barbarians, under the Sea of Swords and resisting a flesh rust, maneuvering against a Amnian House of particular cunning, succeeding against Cowled Wizards, negotiating with Dukes and building and losing trust time and time again.

Their skills were tested, as was their luck. It cannot be said all made it through the journey. But those that, return home to Baldur's Gate with a certain, undeniable triumph under their belts. And some...return as new beings. Some, may never return...but those that lived, now carry a story that shall last in memory, for a lifetime.
