An eastern Imperial Eagle flies in circles three times above the orphanage, before dropping in front of the Radiant Heart chapterhouse's gates a bag containing 2000 gold coins. Then the eagle can be seen flying towards the troll claws hills. The donation is anonymous.

/// Hopefully this is an ok post. If there are problems or something needs to be changed, please let me know! ///

She was conflicted about it all. It was such a good thing to have her children safe, to see them playing with other children and not to wake at every shift of smell or sound in the woods outside her cave. Kaltyra saw the orphanage as the way her tribe mostly raised children. Less by the birthing parent and far more by a small community of females that tended, fed and scolded. It was just a shame, she felt, that they were human. Almost all were human.

It was probably good that her children be exposed to humans, human ways of doing things, human rules, human expectations. Kaltyra considered it a bad taste in her mouth, but try as she might it was unlikely she would find a good fit in orc society for them. She also wasn’t sure she wanted them to become what orcen tribes would make them.

At the same time, she didn’t want them to be humans in orc-flesh. It would ill prepare them for the harshness of the world. While all this softness of life was nice it could make her children weak. Kho’Gnok was sleeping on a bed for Deepness’ Sake.

Their mother had cabin fever for them, while the children remained blissfully ignorant, unaware of the subtle social structures molding them into the adults they would become.

Kaltyra spent long hours there, trying not to interfere but hurting when she watched the Sisters give out gentle punishments where she would have thrown Kho’Gnok across the room and into a wall to teach him properly. She kept her mouth shut though, this was the price of their safety.

Mostly the orcess did keep to herself, cutting cured rabbit furs into diapers, shirts and shorts. Other times she would go out and bring back large baskets of herbs, beetle shells, tree bark, berries and mushrooms then spend days grinding, drying and mixing them into vials or small pouches.

Being a druid and an orc there were of course times when she should be scarce. Elven visitors, or that unspoken itch to be back in nature would draw her out but in time she would return – always return. Sometimes with a bulky hooded figure who spoke in broken common. He called himself Grubnar and her children absolutely adored wrestling with the gentle giant.

“Grubnar protect. Grubnar good good. Not need paper for heart.” He’d explained to anyone who asked for his pass, his writ of proof the Dukes allowed him around. A few of the other orphans might have enjoyed wrestling with Grubnar as well – he was very good with children.

But often at the orphanage it was just the daily routine. Play, lessons, feedings and sleep, round and round. And there was Kaltyra so very often, becoming a new fixture, a piece of the background. She usually stayed outside, by the small copse of trees nearby.

So it was that after a few weeks she noticed the young boy who was watching her closely whenever he thought she wasn’t looking. He was not a half-bad hider or climber, but Kaltyra knew the smells of the children by now. She wasn’t sure his interest in her, but ever the curious orcess, she meant to find out.

“Adam? He’s terribly good with animals you know. Wants to be a ranger I think but can’t find an apprenticeship.”

Sister Juna added a few spices to her pie mixture as she explained. It had all become very clear to Kaltyra.

Well, she was not at all a ranger, but perhaps she could start openly demonstrating her work with the herbs and with how to track. Perhaps, if the boy would let her. It would be a small way to repay the orphanage.

The morning after Laisren and Saline's wedding, a druid leafjumps right in front of the orhpanage followed by two little moon elven twins and with a sealed letter for Saint Merielle Silene. Luilla and Alierna will be reunited with Doron's inhabitants housed inside the Chapterhouse for the entire duration of the war against the orcs.

Thedran is seen reading a letter, brought by a unmarked runner. Once he is done, the children watch in wonder as he gathers his things. . .and more importantly he goes inside the orphanage and takes down the sword hung over the door.

He smiles at the older boys as they ask the many questions of where he is going, his only response

"Decent men have no choice"

Last seen waving to Sister Juna as he makes his way south down the road. A heavy ruck on his back.

After spending weeks away from Mercy's, Thedran appeared suddenly in light of the suprise orc raid against The Farmlands. Having clearly abandoned the main effort, he ran past many of the raiders, until he arrived blade in hand at Mercy's door step. With only the briefest of commands for "Little Mother" to take the children inside, he went out to meet the first of the raiders. He held the doors, and cleared the lands surrounding his home of the advance raiders.

As the last of the advance raiders fell to his blade, he quickly left orders for the surviving men to prepare for more, and left to help to the north. He returned again with the main raid, battering his way through the ranks of The Black Orcs, using main force and every magic available to him to reach Mercy's once again. He stood, and savagly traded blows with the orcs at the doorstep of Mercy's, again he fought alone, having clearly abandoned the main effort of defense. After several long minutes the adventuring parties arrived and relieved the presure put on Mercy's.

Once the raiders had finally been killed to the last, Thedran did not leave The Farmlands a second time. He remained and helped the surviving soldiers, and farmers put out the fires and salvage what could be saved.

In the days that followed, much of Thedran's free time has been filled with his weapon of choice. His shovel, and main strength adding to the rebuilding of his community, and repairs to his own home. Most notably, he helps Thron, and Jorn with their homes, crops, and supply stores. Knowing the pair will be important in keeping his neghibor's alive through the coming winter. However he turns away no request from help, and continues the practice of feeding the community's children a meal should they require it.

Wearing her old garb to hide her face and features, a short, stocky female that might have passed for a tall dwarf or a fat human is seen visiting. Inside Mercy she uncloaks herself as the orcess Kaltyra. Her amber eyes are apologetic and sombre for the damage suffered but relieved and delighted on seeing her children.

Outside, on hearing of Thedran's work, she pauses to offer assistance both as a simple extra pair of hands and as a druidess.

As promised, Laitae comes by the orphanage with a large satchel of books about history, maths and language written in a way that children might be encouraged to read and understand. She also brings a copy of her own book, "Dragons and their connection to the Weave", in case Gale wishes to read something more advanced and pertaining to magic. Not being very physically strong, she realizes she's not much use helping rebuilding and such, but offers to help making food and other chores in between acting as a teacher for the children while she is there.

Now that the war is finally over, Luthien and Elethineth return to the orphanage to check on the status of their adoptive daughters Lu and Ali. After a happy family reunion (albeit slightly marred by the concern of the children for Luthien's crippled leg) and a lunch eaten in the company of the ilmatari priests and the other children, the two adult elves can be seen giving their kids advanced lessons of Elven Language, before playing with their daughters and the other refugees from Doron for the remainder of the day. After the kids retreat into their bedrooms to reverie, Luthien stops by to help the reconstruction effort at the best of her abilities, offering at the same time her healing skills should anyone require them.

Thedran can be seen removing any and all chocolate found within Mercy's Orphanage, he seems to coldly ignore the protest of the children, or even any argument from Sister Juna.

The candy quickly goes into the river without a word.

Most of the Flaming Fist soldiers were south fighting orcs, and not at the gate.//

James, not usually a visitor of the orphanage, stops by to secure a gold-hilted sword above the lentil. Thedran's "Decency" is thus secured where it always rests when Thedran is called by duty to be away.

"He remains a man of integrity and discipline. I have no doubt he will return." James tells the children, not all comfortable with younglings. He murmurs to the sisters promising information if needed on the fugitive Thedran's current circumstances, asking that they try to keep the children calm and settled about the man's disappearance.

Laitae walks through the farmlands and buys various vegetables, meat and other raw food products from the farmers, paying generously. She then heads to the orphanage where she smiles warmly at the children as they greet her. She spends the day continuing to teach them maths, reading and writing, and some history.

As dinner time approaches, she has the oldest children help her prepare a common elven dinner, as she teaches them the recipes while using the opportunity to teach them a few new elven words and practicing what they already know of the language.

She makes sure to stop by the orphanage to continue her role as a teacher at least once or twice a ten-day, always bringing new books - both in common and elven - with her for the children to read.
