Rumours of Sshamath

A handsome dark elf walks up to the bar at the Gloura's Wings and checks with the barkeep if any notices or replies had been left for him. It seems that he left his calling card in answer to a stranger's inquiries for capable hands for a 'high risk, high reward' job. When told that the stranger who made the original inquiries returned but left no missive or instructions, the dark elf gives the barkeep a look of mild incredulity and then walks off with a chuckle.

We gather here, we faithful of the Queen to comemorate the glorious wisdom and insight shown by the Conclave in passing the same judgement our Queen already made many cycles ago.

Tonight they have taken a stand against a cursed one known for weakness and depraved behaviour towards the weak and the rothe!

This is the transcript of the judgement rendered in the case of the murderers Shur S. and Olath O. Legal scholars and barristers of the City are in possession of these documents and may be willing to share them.

The verdict was delivered in the holding cell of the School of Mages, where the criminals had been imprisoned awaiting their sentence.

*The criminal murderers of the Conclave Emmisary are imrisoned in the holding cells of the School of Mages. Outside the Cells a group of four Charnag Maelthra guards and officers is joined by four Conclave representatives, among them Felyndiira T'orgh and Ilphryssin Arkentlar. (two conclave seat holders)*

Felyndiira T'orgh: *Looks at the guards, inclining her head. She turns to look at Ilphryssin, nodding for him to proceed*

Ilphryssin Arkentlar: *He nods and gestures at the Charnag Officers to proceed*

Shur Silverblade: *Eyes them warily, his head not moving.*
Olath Mri ' Kul: *shifts his eyes from one to the other*
Shur Silverblade: *They stay focused on the blades before looking up at Ilphyrssin*

DM_Absolution: *The guards all move to circle the prisoners in a ceremonious fashion, after they are in place they all turn to look at Ilphryssin and Felyndiira.*

Ilphryssin Arkentlar: Citizens Shur S. and Olath M. the Court has passed judgement in the case of the murder of one the City's revered emmisaries and representatives.. In line with the law of the City and weighing the arguments produced in your defense ...

Shur Silverblade: *His lip is perpetually curled at the corner of his mouth this entire time. He remains stoic.*
Olath Mri ' Kul: *stands quietly listening*

Ilphryssin Arkentlar: The court arrived at the conclusion that Execution through quartering and subsequent burning of the body is the normal sentence for murder, especially of an individual in such a respectable position.

DM_Absolution: *The two emissaries are both looking at Shur and Olath, and is listening intently to Ilphryssin, only turning their gaze every now and then to look at Felyndiira.*

Shur Silverblade: . . . (presumably speechless? )

Ilphryssin Arkentlar: However .... weighing the circumstances of your case and past services to the City this sentence has been transmuted into permanent Exile ...

Olath Mri ' Kul: *pulls a small thing form his pouch and places it in his mouth *

Guard: *Suspiciously look at Olath, and tightens his group on the hilt of the sword, looking at Ilphryssin every now and then.*

Shur Silverblade: *His eyes focus on the guard as he tightens the grip on the hilt of his blade, without turning his head.*

Ilphryssin Arkentlar: Understand that the transmutation of your sentence and by extension your very lives have been a matter of grave concern for this most august college of your superiors. Such occurances are rare and exceptional ....

Shur Silverblade: *Mutters*.They sure kept us in here long enough . . .
Olath Mri ' Kul: *twists his head and pops his neck*

Ilphryssin Arkentlar: It is an exception you will know only once in the remainder of your life. Should you be seen within twenty five leagues of the City this transmutation will be reverted....

Olath Mri ' Kul: *takes a breath and blinks*

Ilphryssin Arkentlar: An additional aspect of the case is your involvement in the organisation known as the Baldeful Maw...

Felyndiira T'orgh: *Her lips curls into a broad grin, her eyes narrowing as she looks at Olath and Shur*

Ilphryssin Arkentlar: This Court understands Shur S. to be in a position of leadership of this organisation and hence his acts carry a degree of represenation on behalf of this group....

Shur Silverblade: *Having been looking intently at the armed guards and Ilphyrssin, he only barely notices the rare female wizard at the back.*
Shur Silverblade: *His lip forms a thin line at the mention of the Maw*.
Olath Mri ' Kul: *face is blank and calm and he listens to the mage ramble on*

Ilphryssin Arkentlar: In view of this fact, the aforementioned murder was weighed far more heavily against Shur S. The dispalyed criminal incompetence, weakness and negligence is unbecoming of any Drow aspiring to lead others and for permitting and or facilitating this rather than removing such a leader the Maw will be penalized accordingly.
In order to avoid forced disbandening the Maw will pay a large stipdend of compensation to the City treasury, part of which will be compensation for the house of the deceased since the perpertrators will now be exiled rather than slain on their behalf.

Shur Silverblade: *His right hand is clenched tightly into a ball, his nails bite into his palm, a tiny trickle of blood may be seen*.
Olath Mri ' Kul: *his jaw moves to the side and then clenches*

Guard: *The guards takes a step closer to shur, tightening his grip on his sword, and glares at Shur*

Ilphryssin Arkentlar: This is our verdict, and as of this moment it will enter into force. Do you have any last words before the sentence is executed? *He looks mildly bored, expecting no reply*

Shur Silverblade: *Glances at the guard*. T-cht, what do you think?
Felyndiira T'orgh: *Turns around and steps out into the hall with the emissaries
Ilphryssin Arkentlar: *He nods at the guards to execute the sentence before leaving*

Kar'myr Sshamath has been many times to the bull pens of the slave market as of late. She also went to the dark spire , engaged in long conversations with the dureguar there about rock structures in the areas of Sshamath.

Rumor goes the petite jalil is looking for good mining slaves and superior engineers good for building.

What and where , nobody knows.

There is a rumour about a minor dispute in the market of S'shamath, where a jalil is supposed to have 'bitten' one of the merchants, unprovoked. Not much is known for certain about this incident, but lately, Ithic the mindflayer have been known to be more guarded than usual in his dealings.

There is a fleeting rumour about some strange masked jalil, around Varalla's Passage, that seeks out travelers to ask questions in strange languages. There is little said about her, other than that she was wearing a mask, and that she seemed unusually happy. One of the guards is said to have understood what she asked, but all the rumour says, is that she asked if he enjoyed himself and what he did. There is no mention of what language was used.

Whispers say that one of merchants changed light color of his illumination on stand. Outrageous rumors of that being sign of new item stock or different kind of sales happening, but no one knows truly what is that supposed to mean. The talks completely brought confusion about who the trader is and what is his, her or it's standing in city. Someone however remembers that color of light is golden yellow.

A drow tunnel runner is overheard at a table in Gloura's as he retells how he witnessed a patrol of cloaked drow males stake a drow female's head upon a upended bastard sword outside Varalla's. On the opposite side of the tunnel they were impaling a drow male's head on a staff, as if eyes of the heads were meant to meet in rotting and decay.

Both heads apparently had the symbol of Lolth cut into them.
Runes were written on the wall beside each head:

Rumor has it (guards like rumors) that Sshamath's seer, Xercia Dantress has gone missing. She was last seen leaving Varalla's passage with a female arcanist Xunae and a masked robed dark elf. More rumors suggest she was engaged in stopping a mad gnome golem crafter from bringing harm to the city. She was not seen after that, except for a few that know of her fate...

The 7th Circle has set up an Arcane Emporium on the Bazaar, selling uniquely valuable scrolls.

The lady Alienor, who led Sshamath's victorious forces at the Battle of Undrek Valanar is rumored to be evaluating the city's adventurers and mercenaries. It is said that she is looking for accomplished hands for an extended operation or potentially a series of operations.

The name of the infamous mercenary company, Bregan D'aerthe has been whispered by more daring rumormongers. If their words hold a measure of truth to them, that powerful and independent guild has now extended its reach to Sshamath with several prominent figures in the City of Dark Weavings having opened a local chapter of Bregan D'aerthe.

Just why an organization famed for its powerful male agents would have the Azure Lady assuming such a prominent and highly public profile has not been explained. It may be simply hearsay but she is said to have useful contacts in the right circles to obtain the services of quality freelance operatives.

Outside of Sshamath a few squashed spider can be seen next to a symbol of Lloth, torn in half.

Sitting quietly in the Gloura's Wings, Adelindra overhears talk between two drow females that dragons were seen walking in the bazaar. She quickly heads over to the school of mages without speaking to anyone of her apparent urgency.

There is talk of some sort of task going very badly in recent cycles. It is unclear just what have happened, and being a rumour, the speculations are endless.

A mother dragon being disturbed, and now bent on revenge on the city. . . diplomatic relations with another city having gone bad, thus and invasion force is on the way. . . Sshamath having been judged unworthy in the temple's eyes, and swift retribution is to be administered. . . Driders having grown in numbers. . . Violence against Drow not being pursued by the conclave with further actions. . .

Whether there is truth to these rumours, the conclave have yet to voice any concern or show any sign of a reaction.

Strange slogans could be heard in the bazaar last cycle. None of them were good, but 'The Friendly Shop' as they were proclaimed to be successfully got more attention than any other merchant.

The slogans were in in Undercommon, and i the line of:

Holding on to your money by your teeth? We will help you open your mouth!

Needless to say, sales did not increase during the cycle.
