DM Galadriel wrote:Rumors spread of a wealthy woman who recently lost a very valuable family heirloom. A large canary diamond that is was last seen near the Friendly Arms Inn. This noble is offering 10,000 coin for its return. The gem will radiate a feint aura of magic and will be easily identifiable by the owner. No reward for similiar gems. No questions asked. The contact will be another woman named Isellishtra who frequents FAI.

Flaming Fist Sr. Commander and personal friend of Duke Eltan known only as Scar is seen drilling troops while sporting a rather prominent shiner. The troops displayed the utmost discipline during the exercise, and not a one would so much as dared to look him in the eye.

Workers have finished repairing the damage to the Bearded Mermaid, after a fire gutted part of the second story earlier this tenday. Because magic is suspected to have been involved, there is an ongoing investigation.

The fire, in tandem with the murder last month, has some people wondering what's going on in the sleepy little town of Ulgoth's Beard.

Last evening, a group of vigilantes turned a captured warlock over to the Flaming Fists. The prisoner was to be held at the Friendly Arm Inn while an escort was arranged to transport him to the city of Baldur's Gate.

According to eyewitness reports, a devil was seen in the early morning hours leaping the wall of the fortress-like inn and flying off into the darkness.

Today, the Flaming Fist has issued a bounty of 10,000 gold for the escaped warlock and necromancer. They describe him as a man of average build, with brown hair and light skin. He was last seen wearing blue clothing with a red cape and red boots.

He is considered extremely dangerous. He is wanted dead or alive.

The Council of Four has approved funds for the reconstruction of the farmlands south and east of the city of Baldur's Gate. Although the hard-hit city is low on resources, and cannot spare very much, the commoners are encouraged by this show of support by their leaders.

Construction has already begun in the eastern farmlands, and is progressing steadily in spite of occasional snows.

In the dead of night a creeping mist could be seen floating around the crossroads of the Lion's Way, beckoning people near a specific site.

In the middle of the day the mist would grow and become bolder, blocking out the sun's rays and warmth.

Some say whispers were heard near the site, and some even tell the tale of shadows appearing. . .

The creeping mist returned to the Lion's Way, and with it many shadows and even a few nightwalkers were seen to be stalking the landscape. Many observers noted that they appeared to be looking for something.

In the middle of the investigation, a man appeared, bloody and broken and poisoned by prolonged exposure to negative energy. This man left with a small group of the adventurers.

Others continued the brave fight for a short while, before the fighting ended and the mist slowly dissipated.

The reconstruction of the Baldur's Gate farmlands has been completed ahead of schedule. A small celebration was held in honor of the construction crews and the Council of Four.

In other news, the fiend worshiper and necromancer who had previously escaped custody at the Friendly Arm Inn has been recaptured. His body was turned in to the Order of the Silver Rose, who then turned him over to the Flaming Fists.

The Silver Rose representative responsible for the turnover requested that the posted reward go to the needy citizens of Baldur's Gate. The Flaming Fist has since made the donation in the name of the Order of the Silver Rose to the Sanctuary of Ilmater, for the feeding and the clothing of the poor and the destitute. Several families will undoubtedly be grateful for the blankets and warm food this money buys them as winter continues to drop temperatures low.

Talk spreads about someone stealing a book from a private collection in The Shelf of Many Books.
This particular book is a fictional story about a Netherees Prince who hoarded wealth all his life and was buried with it. It even contains a childlike map of the tombs location.
The book is written in common but is a valuable antique to its owner and a reward of 10,000 coin has been offered for its safe return to the bookshop.

Candlekeep has been attacked!

Rumors circulate that the library fortress was attacked by shadow-born foes, striking like assassins in the night. The fighting was fierce, and seemed to center around the monastery's laboratory tower.

A Candlekeep scribe, an acolyte, and three or four guards are said to have died in the fighting.

It is also said that the Gatewarden, Captain Hull, is bedridden with serious injuries, and that several other guards were badly hurt as well.

The reasons for the attack are unknown to the public at large at this time, but speculations run rampant.

The bells toll in Beregost, ringing in a meeting of the clergy of the Morninglord.

Lathander's priests, it is said, have gathered to look into ways in which they might aid in ending the shadow attacks that have plagued the Sword Coast.

A road weary merchant has gathered a group of locals with the Blade and Stars to recount tales of the road.

"I'm telling yous what me own eyes seen. " says the unshaven man with new whiskey on his breath.
" The group of 8 or 9 of'em headin inta dem fields 'o dead with a wagon of supplies. And ya know who it was in dat group? Im blind if it werent da street performers ya all be seein right here in da Gate." He stops to take another swig from his mug.

"Why for do thems be headin out?" a drunken patron asks.

The merchant shakes his head. "Dey had some dressed up dandy wit dem. " says the merchant. "I wonder if they aint gonna go build a theatre somewheres up north. Mabye Triel. But dey was goin thru dem dead fields ta get where ever deys a goin. No guards nor mercenaries niether. "

An off duty guard grunts at that. "You're a right fool if you think THAT group needs protection. " He says. "They might look petty doing tricks in the street for a copper, but they are not without skill. Do not underestimate them."
Some laugh and some nod yes or no, but all go about whispering about the new events.

Rumors of a Harvester Devil spread as a warlock under his command helped the gnome known as Mippy cause some chaos near the Friendly Arms Inn. Fear is growing as warlocks seem to become more common place, and sightings of Devils are even spoken of.
