//Just felt i would post some screenies of the awesome work that has been put into this arena, now prepare your eyes for something stunning.

Edit: I feel i should add that it is Luna we should thank for this, he has put quite some time into making the area usable.

Solemnly Ma'en waits in the admittedly short line of eager participants, the priestessess had said he should make the Temple proud so here he was.
After a brief look at the other signers he snorted. "Lolth will feed well when I come around" he thought and smiled.
"Drojal zhah obdoluth dorb'd streeak, Lueth dro zhah zhaunau dorb'd ogglin."
"Existence is empty without chaos, Life is boring without enemies." So sayeth Lady Lolth, Queen of Chaos.

Cal grins wide. "Bwael. The Arena is almost opened. Soon there will be an abundance of fools killing themselves for Usstan's entertainment."

Two wrote:Rok listens the announcement in middle of the crowd. Crowd scatters leaving lone earth genasi standing there alone, he stands there for a good while with dull eyes and blank face staring the spot where announcer stood. Then slowly and clumsily he turns around and heads towards local tavern Gloura's wing. When Rok finally reaches the tavern he removes his gore smeared cloak with stiff clumsy and slow moves placing it over his battered tower shield, as to finish his slow act he then rests his back against wall moving as slowly and stiffly as before.

And there he stands with dull eyes and blank face, if someone who walks by pays any attention to the cloak placed over tower shield he or she can read the following text that is barely visible under all blood and gore stains on the cloak.

M3rcnry fOr hir3 c0in treaSUre spit split or payM3t

Writing it self is shoddy cruel and uneaven
Perhaps someone has noted the genasi that the writing itself is barely visible under all the blood and gore stains. Now the writing itself seems to glitter and almost jump out from the cloak, perhaps Rok has managed to find some fresh paint or he has smashed some glowing mushrooms to pulp and rewrote the letters. Though the sentence itself seems to be shorter as well

"I am Proximo! I shall be closer to you for the next few days, which will be the last of your miserable lives, than that bitch of a mother who first brought you screaming into this world! I did not pay good money for your company. I paid it so that I might profit from your death. And just as your mother was there at your beginning, I shall be there at your end. And when you die - and die you shall - your transition will be to the sound of...
[claps his hands] Gladiators... I salute you."

Image
The charismatic "Master of the Pit" approaches the crowd again, this time the crowd has grown exponentially. His two bodyguards as usual accompanies him to the stage, where he addresses the crowd in his typical manner. With a strong and theatrical voice.

My friends and enemies, after due consideration, -I- have chosen our first TWO combatants. They are both native to this fair city, and will be putting their life on the line for glory and perhaps even honor? Chuckles mockingly If there is such a thing. I can at least guarantee great entertainment, fierce battles and devastating injuries. His curls into a broad, almost predatory grin Do not miss this opportunity to watch your fellow citizens or even friends shed blood in -my- arena.

//The battle will take place tomorrow at 17:00 (GMT/UTC +1 time)
// Bets can be places at the bookkeeper
// Spectators will pay their entrance fee as the enter the arena, the assistant to the "Master Of the Pit" will collect it.

// Can we have the creatures approach from exits rather than being teleported in the middle? That would allow some throwers and shooters to utilise their feats, as well as allow the other people to see some action coming to their corner.

// Thanks ;)

(( Well, first of all there is a light penalty in the area, which seems not fit. But fights was mostly interesting.
Thanks, Abso. ))

// Really liked the presentation and style of this, Master of the Pit had a bit of Jaraxle flair going for him. Allowed for good RP from spectators as well as some thrilling fights. Keeping the equipment toned down helped as a participant and liked being able to choose the basics from the armorer and weaponsmith, though the creatures attacks still pretty much scaled to max item standards so armor didn't help too much! Without the 12 damage resist the battles would've been pretty short lived! Though if it was fighting in pairs it probably would've been a bit more prolonged and exciting I suppose. Still was a good start and had a lot of fun, thanks!

Maybe there can be a brief 15 sec pause at the 50% health mark (with no attacking) to allow some RP of taunting and the like between combatants instead of just swinging away? Might mess up the flow a bit but I would've like the opportunity to "play to the crowd" a bit between melee exchanges in Gladiator style. ;-)

((After just watching the first event it was pretty decent.
Suggestions.
1.Like Servin mentioned maybe have more of a running clash in the middle ,combatants father apart at the start.

2.I was a spectator. And I know the UD is suppose to be dark , but unless you stand completely on the edge of the platform you cant see much going on, my darkvision barely lit the fighters up.So I would make it more lit up with lights , I know it dont make to much sense RP wise but still very hard to view the combat.

3.Also kinda the same thing , but the only place you could stand to watch the action being crammed up around the bookkeeper. Maybe have more spots to watch the action.

4.Another suggestion just to make the rounds go faster for the DM's is have each round have a set bet amount so the bookeeper does not have to ask each person placing a bet on how much.

Really fun overall good work.Looking forward to many more of these.

- It will be done, and i agree.

- As far as i got it, it is actually a outdoor area, and that is why there is a light penalty, i will see if this is possible to change.

- Great suggestion, this i will definitely implement with the next round.

- Yeah i completely agree, i was actually going to do this before the event started, but i ran out of time and just had to hope the players could see the battles. But i will have one of the builders add some light. Either by making the whole area lighter, or more focused. Perhaps in the pit itself.
3.Also kinda the same thing , but the only place you could stand to watch the action being crammed up around the bookkeeper. Maybe have more spots to watch the action.
- Perhaps add more of those balconies?

And i want to add myself that i had some problems on my side as well, for some reason i kept DC'ing all the time, really bothered me.

Another thing is that i will need more time to prepare next time, and i will have one of the builders implement some NPC's i need into the module already. Because i had to create all of them from scratch, which consumed valuable time i would need to perfect other things.

We will sort the betting rules before the next round.

Also i was thinking that i will let the Melee gladiators keep their rings, amulet, bracers, belt. And only have them drop the armor, helm, shield, weapon, boots. Since otherwise it would be quite unfair, since the spellcasters don't rely that heavy on items. And to make it easier for me to scale the mobs difficulty.
