When she heard the ordeal of Triel Iotha loaded up on arrows and healing kits. Then she sharpened her rapiers and daggers. The best option for her is to march with the Order of the Silver Rose as far as their encampment for the Triage Center then go on an orc hunt. While on her hunt the Moon Elven Bard hunts mostly outlying pickets, scouts, and stragglers. All she leaves behind are their arrow festoon corpses, empty orcish quivers, empty pouches, and broken and destroyed fell magic items. She takes what she needs from her enemies.

* The elves of Doron Amar readies their weapons and train hard to be ready. They prepare arrows and traps for the Orcs. A scouting party made of Alsarias, Reza and possibly Mendel (who is in another faction) will scout ahead to try to get intelligence on the army while the clergy prepare medical supplies. Some stay in the village to protect it.*

The three moon blood children of Seheine stood silent before the brazier of the elders. Laisren stood silent staring into the fire as the elders discussed the dire matters brought before them. He watched the flames dance and crackle, to him it was enthralling but none around him did seem to notice. That had always seemed the way to Laisren, as the world around could be on fire, others preferred not to see for themselves until the fire had grown beyond their control.

His glass eye gleamed in the light when he finally heard his name spoken and turned to regard the one whom addressed him. It was the the High Druid, Otiaver Arcanscape and Laisren looked up to see the old elven figure staring intently upon him while the others seemed to have looked surprised at this sudden interruption. "Laisren, you have told of the business of the human village but not of our own concerns", the man who had helped nurse Laisren back to life said stoically. "Why do you come to us now, with the concerns of others, those whom never have been one with our forest?", the man known as The Shepard asked earnestly.

Laisren for a moment did not look up, trying to collect all his composure, understanding and feelings. Beside him were two of the bravest and forthright young Dharashans he could gather, helping to bolster and support his claims while providing their own foresight. The Bardess Iliana, singer of the history of elves and their tragic nature. She wore the sadness of her people about her like armor. Then there was the cold one, Aia. Laisren's very nature gave him pause in his dealings with her, for where he was fire, she was ice. But, her presence provided him the shrewd intellect needed for this meeting.

They had each given their reports, Iliana on the History of these Black Orc Tribes and Aia on their powerful capability toward destruction. Now, the Elders called upon Laisren to offer his more personal view of this matter and had wasted no time in providing their disbelief in the necessity for concern. Laisren's heart was heavy but then he saw the fire begin to rise, felt it's warmth and it was then that he looked up to the elders.

"Elders, we elves from the southern lands are indebted to your kindness and your wisdom. It is with stated, that I wish to impart to you the knowledge that we hold true to our being. These creatures that march now are beyond any evil one could simply imagine. You must be there, feel their war drums beat the ground beneath your feet, hear their warriors shrill screams and see their red eyes glare from the trees as pure malevolence within the night."

"I tell you this as one whom knows all to well", Laisren states and then allows his eyes to drop before the elders, a brief shame betraying his face. Then he finished, "I helped to lead our people south to face them when thousands of these beasts did so threaten to mutilate and destroy the Village of Doron Amar."

Laisren looked up and his face seemed twisted in a mask of pain and anger, only heightened by the scars upon his face. "It was this decision that cost many of our people's lives at the hands of these Beasts. While we celebrated our triumph upon Hell's Hill and buried the dead of Doron, they with the help of their dark human overlords, came to claim those we left within the north!", he said in a angry voice determinedly hushed tone that seemed almost palpable. He then continued, "I did not get the chance to bury my people.....".

"So, we came here, carrying as many bodies as we could hold, seeking refuge from the very creatures whom now move on the human village of Triel. They do not act alone Shepard, these beasts are guided by those called the Zhentarim, human slavers and those whom worship murder itself. The Harpers even now come to us and profess their great concern that the shadow of the Zhentarim will soon fall across all these northern lands. This battle to come is but the first omen, for if the humans of Triel should fall then so shall the Zhentarim inhabit the roads which border your forest without reproach."

"You may be free of such concerns now, yes, but for how long? How long before these beast children of Gruumish begin to breed, how long before the Zhentarim tire of controlling only the roads and turn to the resources of your forest for ill gotten coin. When armies are upon your own door, is that the time you deem to act?"

"You speak the wisdom of hindsight and the proper near sight but what that of your people's future? You need only look upon my face, the faces of my people, to see the pain and suffering we endured to know what could befall your own", he states while staring into the eyes of the great Druid.

"So, now the wounds of my people reopen and their pain bleeds forth. Many aim to strike at the coming of the Orc before they might cast their shadow upon us again. The ones whom would call you ally in this fight against tyranny, evil and injustice cry out for our aid. We have foresworn our loyalty to your judgement but I feel you must know that which you may soon come to know."

For the first time Laisren could hear a sad humming coming from Iliana, though the sound had been throughout, as she touched his shoulder letting him now defer to the Elders. So he does, stepping back, folding his arms and bowing his head to cease the intense glare coming off of his right eye. It seems Destiny's fate has reached it's next cross road and it is a shepard whom will preside as it's judge.......

Dwarven runners are dispatched to the allies of Kraak Helzak in the Order of the Silver Rose, En Dharasha Everae, and Doron Amar. They bring tidings and news of the dwarven response to the shadow of the Black Orcs.

To the esteemed allies of the High King Dovkin Battlehammer,

Word of the foul horde has reached the halls of the dwarves. We shall not stand idly by as our lands and our allies face this ancient foe. The dwarves shall march on the orcs. As you read this missive a company of two and a half score of our finest warriors march to rendevous with your forces to stand against the tide. The King, in his wisdom, has seen fit to set on alert two more companies totaling an aditional ten score warriors if they be needed. They shall only be dispatched in the direst of tidings as we are hard pressed against the threat of Trolls at the very gates of our fortresses. May the hammer of Moradin smite the heads of our foes against his anvil.

*Uriel calls an emergency meeting, requesting the presence of the leaders of En Dharasha, Doron Amar, Kraak Helzak, Elder's Circle, Radiant Heart to meet with the Silver Rose to mutually deal with the threat of the Orcs on Triel. They were joined by the Barbarians from the north. He then writes down the decisions reached at the meeting and sends it out to circulate.*

The plan is two part:
1. Scouting
--food and water reserves
--slaves
--strategic choke points for defending Triel
--supply lines.
--any way to slow down the horde.
--Types of orcs represented
--Other creatures in the army
--A closer examination of the banner they are under (perhaps even capturing one if it can be done discreetly)
--A view of the chief or other leaders
--Quality of weapons and armors, including possible origin of crafting
--Types of war machines
--Do they have any pastries... or rather, how plentiful are their food stocks
--Any other information or clues as to why they are marching and what factions might be involved or inspiring the orcs

2. Defense of Triel
--preparing defenses, barricades and fortifying Triel for attack.
--begin speaking with the townsfolk, encouraging an evacuation, explaining the imminent danger, making resources available for the journey to Elturel.

*Scouts depart and many head north towards Triel*

Tyn leaves the Keep of the Silver Rose grumbling as only a dwarf can....."Poison nature, build siege engines, dig moats, tunnel out of town......bah, they act as if there is all the time in the world. "

Tyn returns to the Grove and sends a quick note to leaders of the other factions

"These Black Orcs are not like the common breed....they are smarter and more cunning. I have seen what dark magic the wield, and if they perfect that ritual they used on the Fist Guard, then any prisoners they have must be detained and isolated until they can be fully checked out by mages and clerics. Mendel was there when we found the guard and can attest to this.....the black orcs did something to the Fist soldier, and his body eventually exploded covering those closes in a toxic mess, making us ill and contagious. We cannot afford to let anyone they have kept prisoner into populated areas without being fully examined."

Once the notes have been dispatched, Tyn sits and meditates for a while. Upon completing his meditation and prayers, he stands, puts his armor on and collects his weapons. He heads to a nearby tree and places his hand upon it, saying a silent prayer, he steps into the tree, and steps out near Triel....

"Lightens the purse, but quickens the trip......" Tyn begins to scout the surrounding areas after casting protections on himself and spells to increase his skills. He speaks with any animals he comes across to see if they have seen or smelt the black orcs, perhaps hoping to find a scouting party or base camp the orcs might be using.

Shifting into bear form, Tyn wanders off into the woods.....sniffing and watching as he does, much like a natural bear would.

Durin Ironfaar quickly returns to the company of dwarves marching from Kraak Helzak with news of his meeting with the alliance leaders. A gruff dwarven officer approaches him.

"What news brother? What be th' plan?"

Durin scratches his head and tugs his beard, then shakes his head.

"Ah cannae rightly be sayin' lad. Some of th' longshankses wanna be blowin themselves up. Others be talkin bout burnin th' place t' th' ground. Others wanna be poisonin' th' whole river!"

The officer is rendered ucharacteristically silent for a long moment. "Whadderbout jus' formin' up th' defense at a choke point an' bashin th' damned piggies until they all be layin face down in their own filthly blood?"

Durin nodded and clapped the burly commander hard on the back. "Aye lad. Dinna ye warry. Sir Uriel be in charge. He's a good lad. He be th' one what killed th' deed draggin wit me an our kin. He'll be talkin sense int' th' heed o' th' longshankses.

"Aye... ahm supposin we'll see." The commander walked off, shaking his head and muttering to himself.

The three moon elves walk out from Caercilcarn and past the village guards. Another hooded wood elf, stands before the bridge to the Temple Cormanthyr carving a piece of wood. "Their answer?", he asks and turns his eyes toward the three elves. "Ready your men Mendel, we go to battle", Laisren tells the leader of Dharasha's forces as he walks by with the two women in tow. Without turning around he continues to address the one known to many as En Villi, "As we discussed, take the stalkers with you to a forward position, make sure they know what they are up against and we will meet you at the front", Laisren exclaimed.

There was an almost imperceptible, "About time" spoken under the breath of Mendel but rather than address this whispered statement, Laisren simply smiled knowing his friend's lust for battle. Before they enter, he turns to one of the women, "Iliana, the Ahrn'Kerym will need the inspiration you might provide them, you should go with Mendel", he tells the young Bardess. The remaining two moon elves, Laisren and Aia moved into the Temple to look for the one Lady Luthien. The men under Mendel's command will need blessings and they will need all that the blessed of Hanali might offer for the coming of their sworn enemy.

As Lady Luthien takes her place in the center of Dala'Haera, residing over the faithful elves whom worship the Seladrine, a flock of villagers come to see what was going on. The two remaining moon elves find the other Pro-consul of Dharasha firing volleys of arrows at a target nearby. "My love", Laisren says respectfully as he walks up to his wife. He then continues, "It is time we plan" he says and for the first time since the preparations had begun, a hint of emotion could be heard within his voice. There always was when it came to Saline. The woman turned her hazel wild elven eyes to regard her husband. "I will get the tea ready then", she said with a smile.

En Dharasha was going back to war..........

//Convenient to know the end before it starts I must say.

Lida waited patiently in the grass pasture outside the hideous building of no spirits as the twilight came and went. Nerys the kinless and aged Vardha had passed her by earlier but it was not those she sought nor trusted. She sighed irritatedly adjusting a crease of her veil as the keep doors opened again to let out her kin.

Olaf staggered out onto the courtyard, she couldnt tell if he had helped himself out or whether those guardsmen had assisted more or less forcefully. The grizzly oldtimer stretched out his arms and loudly belched in contentment before continuing his adventure down the path towards the road.

Slowly and gracefully she rose to intercept the old fart before he got to the crossroad. He grunted as he noticed her arrival at his side: - A fine evening Snowraven, aid my feet if you dont mind lass. Them knights brew decent beer who would have thought. He griped his nose, sneezed and flung away whatever he had found in there to the side as she grasped his other arm to steady his walk. - Should I surprised you still can walk Olaf, I did not know you were this weak or I would have sent a younger man to listen in on the meeting, she chided. The man instantly responded by stepping forward out of her grip to clear his throat and outburst: - I be young enough to do what needed doing and if you be doubting me, He leered and continued: - I could show you lass!. She did not reply but merely snorted before she told him to spill on what had happened in there.

Hours later while walking in silence below the waning moonlight the both froze in their steps as they trampled upon a broken forest path. Something lay unmoving and sprawled up ahead, a dark disturbance on a path otherwise trampled pale. With a grin Olaf drew the massive sword from his back as Lida chanted a quick prayer to that bird bitch she worshipped. The world shifted in his eye as he lunged ahead as the starlight fueled brightness revealed a familiarity or two to the lump on the road. He scrambled to come to a halt as he cried out: -Archers! hunching down to become a smaller target.
From behind Lida calmly responded - we are alone with the dead one Olaf. Her voice held a note of fading surprise. - Sheath that sword of yours and go fetch the coils of what once were Vardha of the Balckfeather then follow, I shall find a suitable spot for the ascent of her spirit.

Dawn came as the aged pile of sagging flesh and bones formerly known as Vardha came to rest upon a flat rock overlooking the north facing of a small forested hill.
Olaf stood silent as Lida performed the last rites for the old witch, the first light of the sun breaking the eastern horison as a chilled breeze from the north touched the faces of the three.

After having made the offering to the North Wind, the Raven and the Fox the lass finally shut up and he grunted before speaking: - I be getting a headache, you got some herbs for it lass?

Thus ended a tale shortened by death itself, perhaps it was just as the witch's Lord of Bones had intended all along.

*Uriel patrols the immediate areas surrounding Triel, examing each choke point. Later. In the day he is joined by Lady Svala and explains his plan.*

There are eight choke points surrounding the plateau and the Palisade. The river divides the battlefield but on the northwestern side. Three of which are wooden so we could remove them with fire. That leaves five, two on the eastern side, two to the southwest and one stone bridge crossing the river. Tis still not a favorable battlefield, our forces divided in four if we are to keep on unit mobile for support and watching for ladders to climb the cliffs.

Let us hope the scouts find a more favorable location to make a stand, this will end with much bloodshed, much original our own.

Though if the scouts are successful, we may be able to take the offensive and buy some time.
