Do you want to buy your shop, or mabey house, eh ?

Unread post by zarcus »

I have one suggestion, about next thing i want to mention. What do you think, about shop in every town, or towns taverns, and not one, i think several, that players can rent, and use for some time, i mean some time while they paying a rent. Shop can looks like a simple chest, that everyone can see what is in it, but one who wants to take something from it, must pay price, and then can take item.( some skrypt can do this i think) And one another think, why players cant have their own house, that can buy, with different prices, depending on location of the house. For example, house in BG Palace district is much much more expenssive from house on some periphery.

It's a good idea. Managing it might be a bit tricky though depending on what kind of scheme you use to charge for rent.

the only problem i see with is, someone buys an area doesn't login after couple months, the area stays empty. if we could figure out a way to do (time-based keys) that disappear after so much time and alert us that area is now vacant.

just some ideas

1. we could just have a standard policy of changing the key tags say every 1 month to invalidate the old keys, (so we don't miss anyone in the sweep)
2.the players have to pay the dm to get a new key
3. all rents our based on monthly basis (so don't try and get a house near the end of a month)
4. character must be 20+ (so we know your dedicated to the character)
5. no custom built houses (favoritism) just use existing free doors
6. one interior area for all the rentals (easy to manage)

it would just be pain finding all the exterior key tags though, figure out way make this automatic

Theres a script for that where if you don't pay your taxs on the land the land gets added back for sale. Its what we had on nwn1 server.

Someone has to do all this work to.
Then when the person running it steps down, and nobody else steps up to fill in, things will fall apart.
I think it's a good idea, but longer term it has the potential to fall into decay.

Must be , a few servers i tried have said scripting in place and we had the same in nwn1. Nothing requires staff from property listing to sale to paying taxs ( rent ). Its a good gold sink too.

i could try and ask the other server what they use. I just know it exists and that it works well.

I dont know anything about scripting, and mabey i asked something, that is hard for scripting, but this i think can improve relationships, roleplay and comunications between characters on the server. And that is why i suggest it. I hope this idea will be accepted, and im glad to see that people like the idea :)

If it means absolute ownership of place, I vote against it.

Nothing can stop you from renting place and give out your money without actually having area given to you. Some players do it and have no problems. So, having stores and shops can be done without utility that takes time to create and possibly can have lots of harmful bugs.

While I see some interesting things coming out from this for me and some players, the idea of players abusing such rights for things not related to RP is too abhorent to me to say 'aye, we need it'.
When someone calls you elitist, he automatically admits that your RP is superior to his.

I absolutely agree with ''zarcus''. This is a great idea and I hope it will come to life ! We need these things. It will increase the gameplay and it will make better communication among people .
