Just wanted to ask, since it has been a while since I last played here.
Is attacking a player in broad daylight, just outside Maltz's shop, and then simply unequiping the bow as the flaming fist soldier calls out, not about as bad as it gets in regards to metagameing the guards in the city?
Not to mention a very odd way of dealing with PVP?

It's "ignoring NPCs," which is a form of metagaming, yes. Take screenshots and PM them to the DMs when things like this happen, so that we can correct the behavior.
Needless to say, attacking someone in broad daylight in a public square is a good way to wind up in the Flaming Fist dungeons -- or the Baldur's Gate graveyard!
