Nobility conflict in this time line

Unread post by Elthan »

Hello

I'd like to ask what are my options for a background that involves mercanary employment under a noble banner in the server's timeline?

1352 - Cormyr had troubles with a usurper king named Gondegal.

Is it happening right now or past-tence? (was rather a brief period)

Do i have any other options that are lore friendly?

The current year is 1349-1350 DR, so it hasn't happened quite yet. That being said, a civil war is currently occurring in Tethyr, just south of Amn (which is, itself, just south of our server's region).

Numerous nobles (and non-nobles) are fighting one another for power, after the massacre of the royal family. The full story of the civil war is detailed in the Lands of Intrigue sourcebook. Here's a brief (but so far as I remember pretty accurate) recounting of it, from a gaming message board:
Theodur wrote:The Tethyrian Civil war started in year 1347DR with [an] even[t] known as the Ten Black Days of Eleint, which saw most of Tethyr's nobility either being killed or fleeing into exile. King Alemander's IV regime was overturned by one of his generals who also died during the event, so the land remained without a ruler. The next twenty years Tethyr went into a decline, due to lack of a leader who could reunite the shattered lands, so pretty much a huge chaos ensued following the Ten Black Days. These twenty years are known as The Interregnum (iirc) and they ended with Queen Zaranda's ascension to the throne, in 1367DR (I think).
