Note Posted: Hilltop Ruins Expedition

Unread post by DistortedShadow »

A notice is posted both just outside of Baldur's Gate and at the Friendly Arm Inn, scrawled in loopy, angular lettering. At the bottom appears the seal of a lily, beneath which the bearer's signature is scratched in ink.
Adventurers and Explorers Needed
Extended trip into the area known as "Hilltop Ruins"

A guide, as well as several adventurers that are combat-capable are requested for assistance in acquiring spell-component related materials and research materials from the area known to the general population as the "Hilltop Ruins," as well as the tunnels beneath. The primary goal of the expedition will be to recover these components, as well as seek out the individual reportedly held within, known as the colleague of the researcher working in the graveyard near the city of Baldur's Gate, in order to recover any findings he may have regarding the origin and purpose of the ruins.

According to popular and well-sourced local information, expected dangers to encounter include kobolds (some of which possess magical potency, alchemical prowess, and spell-like capabilities), bladelings, imps, with the potential of encountering a wyrmling.

Components that have been confirmed to be unique enough to the area that are to be recovered include a local species of moss, jaelian glowshroom, bladeling blood, and Hyleria's Ivy, all of which will be recovered for the purposes of the Employer.

The trip is to take place on the 10th of Kythorn, just before the rising of the new moon. We will meet as early as an hour before departure at the campsite located south of Wyrm's Crossing. Sign your name and profession before the 9th of Kythorn, as these notices will be collected.

Upon returning from the trip to the Employer's satisfaction, payment of no less than 4,000 gold will be split equally among those assisting in the expedition.

*Below, a mercenary's contract was detailed in fairly point form, with such limiters as open worship of proscribed religions being prohibited in accordance with local laws and culture, the desire for the Employer's decisions (in best consultation with the skills of the other party members) being final, the desire for party members to supply their own healing items, any 'loot' being found to be split equally at the end of the trip at a merchant of the Employer's choosing, the right to refuse anyone interested for any reason, the right to cancel the trip at any point, the cost of ressurections being deducted from the total end split, and an assurance that nothing is assured but the payment - come at your own risk and danger!*

OOC Stuff: Hey folks. This is a player-driven event that's going down monday night in one of the more interesting places of the server - the hilltop ruins! This is a great opportunity for lower level characters to get a bit of gold, xp, and introduce themselves - as well as RP out some neat lore and intrigue. Since this is based in a lower level area, I would kindly ask that characters that are over level 10 to carefully consider their active attendance. While I would never ban anyone from coming outright, both OOCly and ICly, I'm certain you can understand the desire not to have any encounters, both natural or DM'd (if one was so inclined to participate, which they certainly don't have to) not to be cheesed by greater missile storms. That said, if you have a higher level character who wants to passively participate, I would love it if you came. You know who you are if you fall into that category!

WHEN: Monday, June 10th, 9PM EST (11 PM GMT)

DURATION: Difficult to say, but if it goes on longer than 3 hours, we'll begin working an excuse to leave.

WHERE: Wyrms Crossing Campground

If there's any questions at all, please leave a message here, and if there's any in-character things I may have missed, I reserve the right to retcon things in the note. It is 5 AM as of the moment I write this, of course, and I might be thinking loopy. XD

*An obsidian-haired man clad in polished silver armor bearing the symbol of Tyr pauses to read the notice on his way into Baldur's Gate and after a few moments of consideration, pens the following:*

Lazarus Khross, Paladin of Tyr and Squire of the Order of the Silver Rose

If I may be of service, I may be contacted at the Helm and Cloak Inn or the Friendly Arm Inn. I request an audience with the potential employer prior to the date of the expedition.

*Gwynn notices the note and leaves a note of his own.*

Names Gwynn Fillmore, I operate a small guide company in Baldur’s Gate. I employ many guides. I Believe I have just the man for the job. His name is Clive. He’s a bit long in the tooth, but as strong as an orc. He is no stranger to battle and should serve you well. (Level 7 fighter) I shall have him meet on the 10th of Kythorn at the wyrm’s crossing as you have instructed. If you need to speak with me in person, I can be found at the Blade and Stars inn.

*As the goldenhaired elf made his way to each of his postings, he seemed rather pleased with the results and began to remove them - anyone who hadn't yet signed on in interest would simply have to meet him in person.*

((Thanks for the interest! See you guys in-game.))

((( Just talked to another participant and we're kinda confused as to when this is happening since 9PM EST apparently doesn't equal 11PM GMT))

(( Since our host is on EST, we can assume 9pm is correct. Which makes it 1am tomorrow GMT instead of 11pm ))

Thanks to those who made the event! Made some new friends all around, and furthered some little plotlines.

breteas wrote:Gmt is one hour earlier than me. I'm 6 hours earlier than EST, 1 earlier to GMT (brittain), which translates to -5 est ( for Gmt )

9PM EST then 5 hours earlier for GMT (british) 6 hours earlier for a large part of Euro mainland.

This "event" runs at 9PM est (monday), 3 PM (brittain, monday), and 2 PM (lots of euro countries, monday)

Ps: Timezones confuse me too. I might have this wrong, but I think I got it right. Hope I helped. ;) \\\\\\

Edit:
I would kindly ask that characters that are over level 10 to carefully consider their active attendance.
I will, if I can make it. If I can, I will add an IC section to this post before joining in. \\\

I believe the event is over so I hope all people made it in time :P Just for info about the time...

Almost right Breteas! just the other way around plus...not PM but AM (it will be morning/night for europe).

9 pm EST (which I believe will be EDT due to daylight savingtime otherwise count 1 hour extra) is 1 AM UTC (GMT) and will be will be 2 AM brittish time (DST) and 3 AM west mainland (DST) (germany, belgium, Netherlands, france etc)

This might be helpful for next time: I put the times in this post for easier calculations ;)

(( Was certainly fun, and I love the RP oriented dungeon crawl. Sorry I couldn't stick around for the very end, by the time the server reset it was already past my time for bed, I get up extremely early. Stupid job. ))
