The Wondrous Map of the sword Coast [IG Item]

Unread post by mungomunk »

This is a magical map created by the Red Wizard Thylara Olessyra.
(only visible to people that gained a map from Thylara Olessyra)

The map seems to be created out of plain paper, yet even to those unfamiliar with the arcane arts the enchantments at work are apparent due to a soft red glow on the edges and fine inscribed symbols on its back. The object itself seems to sense its viewers wishes and enlarges certain areas if wanted, shows names of landmarks, and wondrously extends whenever Thylara has made any alteration.
It is impossible to tear the scroll apart. The effects of the elements seem not to have any effect on it either. Furthermore the map seems to be conveniently linked to its owner, making it impossible to ever loose it or pass it to somebody else other then to Thylara.

OOC: While small in the beginning the map will definitely grow larger:)

Ah, and how might one go about hearing about this or acquiring one, IC? That would be an excellent quest for me...

I would, maps are a big help to me. I get lost very easily.
Mind the gap.

mechanically, some yes, some no.

rp-wise, absolutely! to our characters this is a real world, are you telling me you could never get lost in the real world? i mean yeah, if you never go anywhere, but that's not what adventures do 8-)

I'm happy that navigation is easy for you, but not everyone is so lucky.

OOC: Well if one is only venturing back and forth between Gate and Beregost a map is not really necessary for most people. But what if you're char is new to the region or plans to travel somewhere far away, where he/she hasn't been? I find it naive to believe that all the IG characters just know the sword coast inside out not getting lost etc. A map to me opens up a bunch of rp possibilities, its pretty to look at, might be helpful to some and I for once always missed a world map in the game. plus i love doing such stuff in photoshop:P

Edit: since I'm doing it for myself anyhow, why not share it with the people and actually rp with it? To me this is definitely gonna be more fun than grinding:P

But if you don't get lost, how will you find ancient ruins by accident?

Though, such a map can be a Navigator's dream. *hint, hint* - Said the Navigator of the Wanderess
