Shouting
Less of a question, more of a request. I'm sure you're having fun with OOC shouts, and a few other players are.. but when you're spamming the server with silly 'questions with rewards' and 'tests' it rely is distracting for us trying to stay IC.

Re: Shouting
What's the request? I don't see one, but the topic makes me think it would be cool to implement a shout Mode that doubles your speaking range; quite useful for large IC events.

Re: Shouting
Me and Arkanis to get the players in a good mood were asking AD&D trivia questions which everyone seemed to love but seems some rp got interrupted.

Re: Shouting
You can move DM messages to the other "chat box" (the one that by default has your combat log in) if they're clashing with your IC dialogue.
Right-click in the chat box and you can select and deselect which messages you want to show.

Re: Shouting
I, for one, didn't have any problems with it and thought it was nice to see the DMs interacting with the players on a casual level. It's easy enough to avoid it if you don't want to hear it, just disable the "shout" channel.

Ya, the intent was not to disrupt RP but have some fun. Sorry if it was overboard - the feedback I got was all positive at the time.

You should try being on the DM client when there are 70 people in game, and you get all party tells.TheSeer wrote:Less of a question, more of a request. And your trying to talk to more than one person at once while everyone's private tells are overflowing your chat window.

Re: Shouting
I think it's a fair observation though.
IC actions from the DMs encourage Roleplay.
OOC actions from the DMs encourage OOC banter.
It's not a request to ban all Shouts, just drawing attention to the effects. Sometimes OOC shouts can get a little overboard, but 'telling a DM off' can be quite intimidating - so I imagine that most often they won't get that feedback, possible because of the authority of their position or for fear of 'un'favourtism.
Putting DM messages in a chatbox you can easily miss/overlook doesn't seem like a good option - what if an important announcement is made?

Can we add that to the to do list, or do I have to go bug someone?DM Mouse wrote:What's the request? I don't see one, but the topic makes me think it would be cool to implement a shout Mode that doubles your speaking range; quite useful for large IC events.
