New player - Questions

Unread post by Very_svensk »

Hey. I'm from a server called www.amiaworld.net, A nwn 1 server i've been playing for the past 7-8 years (Since 2006 or 2005)

Since the downfall of gamespy and dwindling player-numbers i'm turning my eyes away from what is safe and attempting something that's somewhat familiar - Neverwinter nights 2.

Here's some questions;
  • - Max level on BGGTSCC?
    - How does Level adjustment work?
    - What happens upon death?
    - Is this a high/medium or low magic setting? (I'm used to epic spells and +5 items)
    - How strong is the drow playerbase?
    - Are there any other Amians here? :)

30, moreover, you need to have three levels of each class you go for by level 20.
Very_svensk wrote:- How does Level adjustment work?
For example, with the Drow, you need to gain something like 6000 experience points to reach level two. (The amount it would take a non-ECL race to reach level three.) To reach level three, you would have to get 4000 experience points, 5000 for level four, and so on.
Very_svensk wrote:- What happens upon death?
It depends. If you die to a monster, you get sent to Fugue plane where you can get out by someone raising your corpse or by paying an experience penalty that is "100 * total HD."
Very_svensk wrote:- Is this a high/medium or low magic setting? (I'm used to epic spells and +5 items)
+3 or +4 items are best you can get in here and we have epic spells. (For items, +4 ability items are practically nonexisting.)
Very_svensk wrote:- How strong is the drow playerbase?
Down Under is not as populous as the surface. You might find out that no one hears when you scream, or you got mates to play with. The important thing to notice is how the Sshamath is not your typical Lolthite city.

People claiming to be from there do pop up once here and there.

Edit: Typo corrected.

More questions about races and classes
  • - Are all races free to play or are some request?
    - Are there some classes that are modified / adjusted? We have a ton of "Edited" classes on amia to balance things out.

Whatever race you see in the character selection, you can play it.

As for custom changes: http://bgtscc.net/viewforum.php?f=7 <- Read there, there are several topics to go over.

Custom Changes contains most, but if you scroll further down, you get our custom spells, classes, feats, and such.

I believe the class "Favoured soul" have caught my interest and i want some help building one.
  • - Where or to whom do i turn to?

Is there an official list of factions to join? Are there any evil cults / good paladin orders? I only vaguely remember the 'Order of the radiant heart' from the baldur's gate chronicles.

On www.amiaworld.net i used to lead a faction called "The eternal order" We were the ravensword battalion, a faction made to resemble the spanish inquisition following the god of Kelemvor.
I have read that kelemvor is not yet a god here in BGTSCC, Or maybe he has become one?

You could make a new topic in the Character Builds subforum. But the thing with Favoured Soul builds is that they are very simple. The real choice with on is that whether you want to multiclass for Epic Divine Might (EDM) or not.

If you want EDM, just take three levels of Cleric or Blackguard or four levels of Paladin to get Turn Undead and that way Divine Might and later EDM. You need base 21 in strength and charisma to get EDM. And you need to pick Divine Might on a level that gives Turn Undead progression. EDM has no such limitation.

If you turn down EDM based build, you could also go for a Strength based Favoured Soul. Raise strength as high as you can, and have some 19~ Charisma for spells.

And as for spells, just pick whatever that improves AB/AC/Damage or heals.

AS for guilds: http://bgtscc.net/viewforum.php?f=16

The server's timelineis set before the Times of Trouble so Kelemvor is a mortal somewhere.

At the moment we're in 1349 DR and the speed of time is 1:1 with real time, so still a few years before the ToT !

And few more before Kelemvor becomes the god of the dead.

Luckily we got Myrkul. :D

@Very_Svensk
There is a few favored soul threads you might want to look at, but in the end it is what you feel comfortable playing that sets the bar.

If you want EDM a favored soul with paladin or blackguard levels is recommended, it can be done with a few cleric levels but that is sort of redundant.

Drow is an excellent race for EDM favored soul (+2 dex int cha and massive sr to top it off).

Choose your poison but blackguard would probably fit better in sshamath than paladin for the obvious reasons.
Some players has previously found it a sport to hunt such abominations as paladins down and it would probably be a very difficult situation to be in. However, im sure it can be done but dont expect to be treated friendly.

As for guilds the underdark presently have at least these around:
Seventh Circle, militant magerun trader guild with Conclave connections (neutral, all welcome).
Bregan D'Aerthe, a secretive band with unknown ties to the city of spiders (neutral?)

Dormant as of now:
Temple of Lolth, pretty selfexplanatory? (evil)

New and not underdark exclusive:
Crimson Spyre, sectarian and evolving (neutral? evil?)

Possibly returning:
Baleful Maw, a very chaotic band whose leader has been exiled from Sshamath (evil)

Apologies if I missed some party or made a faulty interpretation of those mentioned, it was not intended.

There are also a smattering of other groupings and free traders about.

Worship of Eilistraee flares once in a while but dont expect more than basic dm support if you go down that path. There are Eilistraeean both on the surface and in the underdark.

Surface access is not really feasible for a underdark toon until the epics and drow are KoS up there. Sure you can find someone to teleport you but..then what? (no grind, only rp on the wrong side of the server)

Välkommen.

It seems I've made a typo. Indeed, you need to have three levels of all your classes by level 20.

As for Cleric, it is often overlooked with Favoured Soul because it does not grant Charisma to saves. But with the right domains, you can get abilities and feats you would not otherwise get.

Paladins and blackguards get a bonus to saving throws equal to their Charisma modifier.

Both Paladin and Blackguards have class abilities that lets them add their charisma modifiers to their saving throws. And if you go for EDM Favoured Soul, Divine Soul, you are easily looking at something from +6 to +9 to your saves.

This is a somewhat blunt question;
  • - Where would i get the most interaction with players? I find it smart to create a character that co-exists somewhat with other players as my first one, delving deeper into more difficult RP concepts as i learn the server.
    - Which is the biggest faction on the server?
