I've been digging around the internet but found no information on the topic I'm after so maybe someone more fortunate can share their knowledge here.
Sshamath, like any other respecting drow city must have an official organisation to train the non-noble common drow folk as assassins (and I don't mean a player ran guild like my own). Would it be linked with the school of illusion or otherwise... Any info on that would be most appreciated.
Cheers

The Tower of the Masked Mage
A stalactite temple to Vhaeraun suspended over the Darkwoods. Some of the Shadow Adepts not under the dominance of Shar reside here. They support Vyllshan's activities. Most residents of the tower are rogues though.

Would have been my first suggestion, Febriel.
However, we don't have the temple mapped out. Some of the alternatives might be the merchant clans or houses whom may provide private training and employment opportunities.
Warlocks are also common in Drow society, Servin, and the Shadow Weave is at this time gaining an official following in S'shamath.
The easy road to power can be attractive to the little spiders trying to eat their way to the top by what ever means necessary.

Another question about more information on Sshamath.
-The city of Sshamath holds virtually no private places to say, other than the Darkspires Rooms. SO, is it allowed to presume that those rooms can be used as rentable quarters? If not, where can people take housing, and if possible, directions to such places?
As it stands, Sshamath seem very much short on accommodations. Roaringshoar has more places for private role-play and plotting.

Old question, but I think this bit will help, even if late.
It is known that School of Illusion is taking on assassinations tasks and covert operations of city forces, so, most likely, they train assassins.

Hopefully in the futur there will be some private places added. Right now, I guess it isn't 'so bad' to RP it in these rooms.Empoweredfan wrote:Another question about more information on Sshamath.

...But beware. Keep your eyes close to the rules and don't RP anything illegal in these private places! ...You'll notice sometimes they're not as private as you thought.

Zinzerena is the drow goddess of chaos and assassins during our timeline on the server. Her symbol is a shortsword draped in a black cloak, symbolizing her hidden menace.
(■Eric L. Boyd (1998). Demihuman Deities. Wizards of the Coast. ISBN 0-7869-1239-1. )
Just as other gods do not have openly recognizecd shrines/temples/holy orders due to the overwhelming presence of Lloth, so too does this goddess. Lloth eventually kills her and absorbs her powers, but not yet, so in my understanding of Drow culture, this goddess would not be allowed to openly have followers to train as the Lady of Spiders is fairly jealous of other dieties, especially ones in her sphere of influence. I would say you could safely role play that there IS an assassins guild where training does occur, but its location and leadership would be extremely secret.
