Eowiel Le’liana, Elven Ranger.

Fighter/Ranger/Tempest
Dual wielder of kukri
Highly skilled with longsword as well
Animal = Mala, wolf

Eowiel was born in a small hunting village in the High Forest, a few days walk south and east of Silverymoon. Her father, a sorcerer, had seen her ability to shape magic at an early age. She could call cantrips with ease, the magic was in her blood, as it was his. She worked hard to please him in this regard, training at her art daily with him and the other elders who could control some aspect of the Weave. Never did she complain, it was not her style, though she longed to be allowed to run the forests with her brother, who was training with the hunters. Her magic progressed nicely, earning her accolades from the mages and sorcerors, and the promise of great power. She learned to mesh her magic with her sword-play (a nod to her mother) in a way that her father found both irritating and curious. He would have preferred that she spend her training time working on her magical skills, but whenever he turned his back she would practice the art of ensorceling a blade, or producing defensive magics that were best suited to melee combat. Vexed, he decided it was time to send her off to train and to learn among the greatest scholars of the realms, hoping the knowledge she would gain would turn her from this path. A caravan was found in Silverymoon, and she was sent on her way..to learn at Candlekeep. One thing barred her from this goal, gaining entry to the keep, renowned for its strict entry policy. She would need to use her skills to find a tome of sufficient value on her own.

Time passed and Eowiel grew in strength, still focused on fighting more than pure magic. She was welcomed into the Doron Amar community with open arms, and learned a great deal about herself in the process. She joined the Mathora, learning the ways of military fighting. Still, though, she could not gain entry to Candlekeep. She felt great shame at her failing, but saw no easy resolution. At long last, she made a decision that she felt was long in coming. It was time to abandon the Weave. Turning from her quest was not easy, and it would anger her father, but she felt it was the best move for her. Turning to her knowledge of the forests, she chose to walk the path of a ranger henceforth, and to fight with the Blade Guard of the Mathora.

Still more time passed, and Eowiel found herself gaining more and more experience and respect among her kin of Doron Amar. Soon enough, she found herself appointed a Captain of the Blade Guard unit, though not without some drama. She felt a wedge driven between her and her longtime friend Celasorsan, but felt it was her duty to her people to take the role that was offered to her by the Hand, Tyressen. Though times have been mostly peaceful for the elves, her work has been steady as leader of the Blade Guard unit.

Possible Plot Hooks:
Breaking the news to her father and mother
Finding a book of sufficient value to allow her entry to Candlekeep
Elven artifacts (she is searching for these on a plot in the Doron Amar guild)
Anything involving her role as Captain
Searching for a kukri (she is a specialist with these)

((background now player journal..the following is OOC unless you have her journal in hand))

Given that I rarely have time to write, today is a day of note. As the first entry in a journal I hope to keep, this stands as a marker of some measure of stability in my life. For the first time in a long time, I have time to write. So I shall...

Cela appears ready to rejoin the Mathora, something I always sort of expected, and yet somehow am concerned about. I worry that his anger will cause him trouble once again, though he has done better to control it in recent weeks than I've seen in the past. Still, he admits to having beat the one called Pain within an inch of his life in search of a ring (albeit a very important one), which is something a member of the Mathora cannot be doing. I am certain that Laya, who would be his commander, would not be pleased with his actions.

That said, I think I am actually relieved to be in charge of the archers and mages of the Mathora, simply because it simplifies my friendship with Cela, and does not leave me in a position of leadership of him and his actions, which are often rash and sometimes over the top. Time will tell how long he remains re-enlisted, but truth be told, he has been defending the people all along anyways, so I see no real difference, save for the "active" member aspect. Perhaps he would be better off remaining as a free elf in terms of his military actions. I cannot know the answer to that issue.

Poor Mala was nearly killed by a horde of undead near the FAI today. She smelled their approach and was trying to warn me, and I misread her signs, thinking she wished to show me something. In truth, she was warning me that they were coming. She fought bravely, but was overmatched and suffered a badly broken leg. She was near death by the time Cela and I were able to remove all the undead. During the fight, Cela tried to order me to run. I would do no such thing. All I could think of was poor Mala lying there being torn at by undead. Surely he must know that I would not flee with her there in that condition. I owe great thanks to ______ (name I cannot recall right now..sorry!) for her impressive healing prowess to bring Mala back to health. I was concerned that I would have had to put her down.

Following the fight, we had an argument. He is a stubborn ass at best. He thinks he will go after this lich that has been terrorizing the lands for months..alone. I won't stand by and allow this, and he will simply have to accept it.

I sit now, inspecting a cloak and a belt.

As I sit here I find myself thinking about home. My father would know exactly what to do in this situation. He would have an answer. His magic would tell him what to do, where to look. I do not have that power anymore. I wonder if I made the right choice.
