Roleplaying Drow Cruelty

Unread post by mireigi »

I don't have any immediate plans for playing a Drow myself, but I would still like to know how you actually stay IC as a Drow, particularly as a Cleric/Priestess of Lolth, given the PG-13 restriction, which prohibits much of the Drow-centric lore and RP one would expect from the race and its society?

You follow the same rules as everyone else.

You don't ERP (going over the line), and you don't emote anything too graphic, over the border of PG-13.

If you have doubts about something, don't do it. That would be my advice. There's ways to hurt people without being too graphic and gory with your emotes.

That was what I thought. I'm just wondering how you go about the obvious abuse that all drow go through. Is it acceptable to agree upon that it have happened and then RP the after-effects (if any), as long as you do not break PG-13 and keep it graphic-low?

It should be noted that S'shamath is a fairly different city than most people are used to in Forgotten Realms. Be sure to become familiar with the lore of this setting when you begin considering what 'all drow go through' when they're in S'shamath particularly as it's ruled by mostly male Wizards.

Ahh, I didn't look much into it. Thought it was more akin to Menzoberranzan or Ched Nasad.

The RP restrictions make more sense then as most drow will probably originate from a city not ruled by a sadistic matriarchy.

That's perfectly acceptable to my understanding.

Just don't become too artistic in the description, and you won't bend the rules. Your character would already around impaling or eviscerating goblins and other NPCs, through the mechanics. A simple description won't come closer to breaking the PG-13 rules.

As such it's acceptable to emote *whips the drow male/female* - it's not acceptable to go into graphic or gory details like *whips the drow male/female until #¤&#¤ strips of #¤&¤# flies of his/her #¤#&¤ back*

The censoring might blur the message, but I don't think explaining the rules gives me permission to break them - I hope it's clear enough though?
