Attention: Baldurs Gate and Candlekeep

Unread post by Diarden »

Valerius and The Dukes,

We have been guests in your realm, fighting along side some colorful characters and attempting to rid the countryside of your enemies. Not once have we requested assistance for our own troubles, our own wars. Not once have we pleaded to the leadership of these two fine cities to send some troops to the aid of our people, and yet we valiantly fight by some of your sides.

But enough is enough. We no longer will humbly put our heads down when insulted by the likes of your kind. We will no longer swallow our pride when we are taunted about our heritage. We ARE a proud race, and we will no longer succumb to the disgustful representation of your cities inhabitants.

War is on the horizon, the war between us Half-Orcs and the rest of you. We have pleaded for change, for the racism to be dismissed and have some type of harmony between our factions. Unheeded, this has been a spat to our faces, and we will no longer sit idly by.

I leave for the north, to muster some allies from the Spine. In two weeks time, there shall be resolution or there will be blood on your hands. Every man, woman and child will be slain who does not follow by the rules and laws we will put forth, and the territories that we will conquer in turn will be deemed our lands.

You have been warned. The tyranny against our people will end.

Signed,

Vurk Koll

ooc// I assume all or most of the other Half Orcs are in agreement with this? This sounds like a neutral evil char at best who is speaking these words. just sayin. And it's Ulrant who is the representative of Candlekeep and who the letter should be addressed to. But IC valarius will be handling it anyway ;) :D

Valerius sits in his study, his elbows on his desk, his head in his hands. Rereading the letter for a third time, he lets out a heavy sigh, and turns his red eyes towards one of his windows. He can still see plumes of smoke, from the orcish bombardment outside Candlekeep. He is sure the corpses of orcs, ogres, and wyverns still dot the roadside.

"One thing after another," he mutters to himself, with some annoyance, rereading the letter for a fourth and final time.

He cannot help but wonder why Candlekeep would be threatened. The isolated monastic community was of a definite you-leave-us-alone-and-we'll-leave-you-alone bent. Why agitate a well-defended citadel of wizards and monks over some self-righteous little quest to right some overblown insult? Some half-orc has hurt feelings about being spat at? Try being a tiefling for a day.

"These children are going to have to grow up." He shakes his head at the letter, and makes a mental note to notify the Wyndsoul brothers of this little development, figuring that they might be more interested and helpful in this matter than he himself. Then he puts the letter aside, to direct it to Master Ulraunt's attention once he finishes the rest of his work.

Candlekeep would be ready, if this threat was not as empty as Valerius felt, at this moment, it was.
