Druid Help.

Unread post by Tashima »

Can someone show me a solid druid build? i keep hearing companions make sick tanks, im level 4 and right now my companion get trumped pretty quick. what spells should i use? skills? feats?

any help would be greaaat

P.S. I like druids because i love the RP you can get from them, not because i want 70AC. but i wont say no to a wicked companion either.

I have read the guides for druids but it doesnt really explain, short of "you can do it" how to make them so powerful.

Everything in druid is viable. Just get some more levels and your companion. Use summons and buff them. Everything will be fine. You will see.

I quoted this guide and have read it, it speaks of a few spells to use at each level, not really how to play a druid or be powerful. I see other guides of people sitting back drinking tea while they level vicariously through their companion. I cannot do this, they die, always...

but i'll keep at it, i love playing druids, done it before...but i was a monk cross in elemental form, which i cant really do here. Im going 30 druid on this one so this is a little new to me.

There are four things that I primarily do. One, I use everything I can to boost AC Barkskin/Spiderskin, Cats Grace, Halo of Sand (caster only), and later Freedom of Movement before Tortoise Shell. Make sure that you have enchanted armor and shields as you get some AC when shifted. Two, damage reduction Stone Skin (always on companion or summons) Greater Stone Skin, and Premonition. Three, damage is important, Bull's Strength, Magic Fang, Greater Magic Fang, and Flame Weapon. Four, is healing. I always have Lessor Vigor or Vigors. You can use Rejuvenation Cocoon as well or Regeneration when things get tough for your companion. Spare healing spells are helpful.

Remember, the time on the summons are longer, so, don't bother using the lower level ones extended. Later, in the levels you can use things like Awaken on your companion and Mass Bull's Strength with Mass Cat's Grace for everyone. Sometimes added hit points are useful and Mass Bear's Endurance is a good pick. Make sure that all your pals are together when buffing and use the extended spells. Get familiar with using keyboard commands to attack, follow, and guard. Some times the AI bugs out and you have to rinse and repeat with the keyboard commands. Get used to using them.

As far as forms go, I wait until I can get the better form of Big Cat (in the lower levels AC is better by not shifting and using gear), then I take Tree Shape, then Elemental.

I think you answered your own question =P

But as mentioned, using enhance buffs and such on the animal always is good. Just buff it like a party member, cause that is what it is!

Just camp in the graveyard until you are level 7. You should have enough coin to buy some good gear by then. Then go to the swamps and murder lizards for the ballance until level 9. After that you do goblins. Alternatively, you can grind fire beetles, but it is slow and you will need plenty of Endure Elements/Protection from Energy for you and palls. By level ten you should be well off.

Only 30 or so damage, though. That's three fire beetles maximum.
